Popular Post PeterMack Posted October 17, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted October 17, 2014 I drove an RB for welch for two years it was always the cleanest best taken care of R model in the gravel fleet until they put me in a loader this year its a shame to see it now I think it may have been washed once this year.I have a picture of your former truck. I posted it awhile ago but I will re-post. I have seen it a few times this week and in the last monthand it looks trashed. A shame. I'll give you credit for keeping it clean in Welch's yard because that place is either dust or mud. Nohappy medium in there and if its dusty all the yahoo's fly in and out of there all day stirring it up. Popular Post ranchhopper Posted October 17, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted October 17, 2014 That was my truck had her all chromed up center caps, moons and stainless lugnut covers every morning after I got to the pit the kozak cloth came out and all the dust from the night before came off. Stan bought all the chrome for me because I took good care of the truck fixed all the minor stuff myself those guys wont even change out a burnt out marker light they write them up so the mechanics have to do it. That truck was originally one of our straight trucks It was great has a mack thirteen speed in it hooked to a 350 and locking rear ends has a twenty thousand pound front axle and forty four thousand pound rears so it rode hard that pic must be from just before I put the chrome on it looks like I just got done polishing the front wheels they were chalk white from years of acid washings and concrete dust. 5 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

PeterMack Posted October 20, 2014 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Today I had to run an errand up north of my place and I made a little detour to see if this Mack firetruck was still parkedin the same place, and to my surprise it wasn't. It used to be stuffed in the woods but today it was sitting out front. It mustbe able to run, It has been sitting here for awhile. I think it says, Rockton/Roscoe or Rockford/Roscoe on the boom.I'm not sure what year this would be. I'm guessing 60's? I don't know that much about Mack firetrucks. It had a "diesel"badge on the front that looked the same as my b-model. What would be in this truck 673,711? I have it on my Western Star I like it not a bad ride nothing like the old Hendrickson rubber block. I've heard it's really good, but I guess since all the other plow trucks they have, mostly Internationals, have the same style they wanted to stick with it. A mechanic there told me they would plug all the trucks into a series of piping at islands, and a huge tank of warm coolant inside the shop, would circulate through the trucks all night. The trucks could leave after air was built up. Harry did not want the guys starting the trucks, then coming back in for coffee, while the trucks warmed up. Last week there was a Meyer/Ozinga RD inside the building I was delivering to.27 acres under the roof. Week took 52,000 tons of CA-6 for the pad to this building over the summer. Also saw an always cleanDon Ragona Granite, and Orange Crush RD, a Chicagoland Paving RD, and the new cell for the Dekalb county landfill. KRG didthe excavation. ranchhopper Posted October 28, 2014 Share Posted October 28, 2014 They are hard at work putting the RB I used to drive and the trailer back together sorry no pics but the driver missed the stop sign at a T intersection in the fog Saturday with a load on and dropped into a narrow four foot deep ditch on the other side dropped in and bounced into and over the other side and went through to fences before coming to a stop in a field. Any other truck in our fleet would have lost the front axle this has a 20000 front and 44000 rears hitting the other side of the ditch destroyed the bumper and when the bumper came up messed up the hood they had to heat the bumper brackets to bend them down again. the trailer had one of the saddles ripped off that keep the frameless trailer aligned going down the road also had to replace the steering wheel as it was cracked by the driver slamming into it I hear I might be the lucky guy who has to haul gravel with it tomorrow. Spent a good month going back and forth to this building.Took some pictures along the way.
