Chicago R models

Recommended Posts

Today I had to run an errand up north of my place and I made a little detour to see if this Mack firetruck was still parked

in the same place, and to my surprise it wasn't. It used to be stuffed in the woods but today it was sitting out front. It must

be able to run, It has been sitting here for awhile. I think it says, Rockton/Roscoe or Rockford/Roscoe on the boom.

I'm not sure what year this would be. I'm guessing 60's? I don't know that much about Mack firetrucks. It had a "diesel"

badge on the front that looked the same as my b-model. What would be in this truck 673,711? This is the only one that

I have ever seen in person.

James J. It is a Hendrickson Haulmax walking beam new style rubber block. I have it on my Western Star I like it not a bad ride nothing like the old Hendrickson rubber block. Not much maintaince and articulates well.Just about every Waste Management Trucks that I see has it. Joe D.

Brad, I always liked the quick-coupler coolant lines on their trucks. A mechanic there told me they would plug all the trucks into a series of piping at islands, and a huge tank of warm coolant inside the shop, would circulate through the trucks all night. The trucks could leave after air was built up. Harry did not want the guys starting the trucks, then coming back in for coffee, while the trucks warmed up. Understood.

They are hard at work putting the RB I used to drive and the trailer back together sorry no pics but the driver missed the stop sign at a T intersection in the fog Saturday with a load on and dropped into a narrow four foot deep ditch on the other side dropped in and bounced into and over the other side and went through to fences before coming to a stop in a field. Any other truck in our fleet would have lost the front axle this has a 20000 front and 44000 rears hitting the other side of the ditch destroyed the bumper and when the bumper came up messed up the hood they had to heat the bumper brackets to bend them down again. the trailer had one of the saddles ripped off that keep the frameless trailer aligned going down the road also had to replace the steering wheel as it was cracked by the driver slamming into it I hear I might be the lucky guy who has to haul gravel with it tomorrow.

Where is that building you took all the ca6 to

Mackey, it is Weber Grill's new HQ and warehouse in Huntley. Spent a good month going back and forth to this building.

Took some pictures along the way. RYAN did the dirt work, Pirtano did the sewer and I caught their Mack on sight.

The whole pad had to be limed also to firm up the ground, and the building was put up by ATMI pre-cast.
