I'm a Mobile Mechanics helper , And A guy came up to me yesterday to look at his 02 Freedom Cab over Renault Powered Box truck , Story I was told Goes like this ! ,. Diesel was stolen from tank , They tried to start it after fueling up , drained the batterys , Replaced the Batterys , Now It will not start .. I tried the normal Troubleshooting methods , Checked fuses , Relays , Check all grounds and Battery terminals and cleaned , I used a push button switch on the starter and Got it to fire over , I Get Nothing from the ignition switch ?? , I checked the wires coming from switch for power with the switch on , and in the crank Posistion , Very Stumped over this issue , Normally I can figure it out and have it back going , But , something I did notice after cleaning the Terminals was the Anti-Theft light on the dash would go off after replacing the terminals ,, Is there an Interia switch somewhere for the anti theft , or Is it something that will have to be done by a Mack Service Dept ?, I'm just trying to figure out the issue and get paid for what I have done so far , but I'm not the type to give up on something and not get paid for working on it all day ,, I also checked to see If I was getting fuel at the injectors and I am getting good pressure ,, But I hear nothing turning on or even clicking from using the ignition switch .. If someone has some Info ,,, PLEASE feel free to throw it my way regarding this issue , I will be going back tomorrow to try and get it fixed , but would like some help tonight if possible ! , Thanks All M-M ! .
Hey guys, I am hoping someone can help me out here. I'm a slate hauler at a coal tipple and I've been having some problems out of the RD800 I drive. My boss/mechanic hasn't been able to figure it out yet and I'm hoping someone here could maybe lead us in the right direction. Basically, the truck just loses power sometimes in 2nd gear when loaded going up the haul road/hill. Some of the grades are too steep to pull the load in 3rd gear, so I pull it in 2nd and when I come to the steeper parts of the hill it begins to lose power and falls on it's face if I don't drop to 1st and even then it still acts like it don't wanna pull it. However, if I drive up the hill in 2nd gear and when I come to a place on the haul road where it's not so steep, if I upshift to 3rd and then run it up until the next steep part and then drop to 2nd it will run fine the rest of the way and does not lose power. This is crazy to me and doesn't make any sense at all. Also, it is real hard to start in the mornings after it has sat for a while. I have to crank the heck out of it for minutes before it finally sputters and idles normally. We've changed air filters, fuel filters, turbo hoses/intake and it's still acting up. I'm not a mechanic at all, I only know how to grease it and throw on fan belts but I'll try to answer any questions you might have for me. Would this be a computer issue, a mechanical issue or maybe some kind of fuel issue? EDIT: Oh, and it does not show a computer error code when it does this. The light doesn't even come on.
Bought this in the fall of 2010 ( last year ) and then sold truck this Spring. Like new condition. Bracket that unit is mounted on bolts to bracket on frame by radiator support bar. Keeps unit away from heat and vibration. Unit attaches to plugs indicated with arrow, other arrow is where I attached bracket. $ 250 plus shipping and insurance. PM me if interested. Thanks Rob
