  1. Cool pics and stories. I would love to see all those vintage planes. Got to walk through a C5 Galaxy years ago when I was kid and thought that was the neatest thing ever walking through that plane. Might have to try and take a trip to see some of the big air shows and check out all the cool planes.
  2. Yeah I am not too far from Sweetgrass, 45min to 1 hour from there depending on the route taken. HeavyGunner
  3. I dont know if flotation tires will help, here are some pics of equipment stuck around my trade area. I am in normally very arid country about a half hour from Canada. Good Luck, HeavyGunner
  4. Definitely a great idea, probably something that is often overlooked. I hadnt thought of that and probably wouldnt have until there were flames.
  5. Thank you for the tips, you guys covered some things I had not thought of which will be very helpful.
  6. I am planning a trip over the Fourth of July weekend and plan on taking advantage of the long weekend to get a little work done on my Mack. The plan is to get everything running properly so I can drive it home (3 hrs away) and work on it there. A quick history is truck was purchased about 18 years ago and was drove home. It may have been started a few times to move it in and out of the shop or lean to, the last time I know for sure it was started was 2000 or 2001. Luckily it was either garaged or under lean to so mostly kept out of the elements. I plan on draining, flushing, changing all fluids before attempting to start it. Anything that I need to watch out for while doing this? Once engine is running I plan on going over the air system and light system etc. to make sure it is road worthy. I was told that the engine was a 205hp Thermodyne but again I cant confirm this until I go visit my Dad and get the VIN info off the truck, frame and engine like I should have thought of the last visit. Any ideas to make this process any smoother would be much appreciated.

  8. Thanks again Rhasler and Mike for the great info. I appreciate your sharing your info and putting up with my beginners questions that you guys have probably answered many times for many other beginners.
  9. From one newbe to another welcome, in the past couple of days i have had more fun talking with people on this forum and gathering info.
  10. So at a quick glance at the above pic of the L model cab and comparing it to my pic it appears the L model cab is slightly bigger with more "squared off" door windows. Is this the difference? If not what is the difference? Any info is appreciated as I am just learning about these trucks.
  11. Here are some poor pics that I took last week with my phone, next time I go to my Dad's I will get some better pics. I included a pic of the odometer which my grandpa claimed is original miles. I have no clue whether its right or not but its an interesting piece of this trucks history.
  12. I am only an hour and a half north of great falls on the hiline. I am going to try and get some pics up very soon.
  13. I would think it would be a B cab because the truck is a B-75, does that sound right? I admit I am not real knowlegdable on all the different Mack stuff....yet.
  14. Hey guys, I am from Montana and I own a 1957 Mack B 75 that is a complete running original truck. Dont let that fool you it does need some work but most of it is minor. I cant see and have not found any rust on the the truck and all body panels seem to be pretty straght. What makes this truck so special to me is that my grandpa originally bought the truck to do a restoration on it and show it. Unfortunately he didnt get it done while he was well, now he has alzheimer's and is not able to work on it any longer. It was given to my father who has stored it in his shop and under his lean to but has no use for it. I remember the day I went to get that truck with my grandfather and have always thought that it was the coolest truck to fix up. Now this year I inherited the truck and am just starting to plan my restoration. I am not going to fancy because I plan using the truck for some light duty chores. I am thinking of putting a nice flatbed with a headache rack and a turnover ball on the back so I can show my truck off while pulling my 5th wheel trailer to the lake. In short I am looking forward to fixing this ole truck up nice and enjoy using it.
  15. Thanks Mike and Bob for the info, this should be a good starting place for me to start looking for a hood.
  16. I have been looking around online trying to find a replacement hood for my '57 B 75 to see what it would cost. Also can body shop straighten out the hood which appears to be aluminum? Any help on where to find parts would be very much appreciated.
