  1. I hope you had a great time at Macungie I am sorry I couldn't make it. Thanks for sharing the details of the accident with the group,I think it was a good reminder to all that Golf Carts can be dangerous. There were an over abundance of Golf cars in Des Moines and many where driving without regard for the own safety or that of of others. I am still in shock of his passing. This past week I have been heart broken for his family and also thinking about some of the fun he and I had in the past. RIP my Friend
  2. For safety sake, I replaced the latches with mini bear claw latches. The work great you can lean against the door while turning a corner and the door will not open. I consider my truck a survivor and maybe not a concours restoration.
  3. Am I the only one that dislikes how EBay lets people post a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with Vintage Car and Truck Parts in that listing section? Most of the listings have nothing to do with Vintage anything are from vendors from China. I hate having to sort through page upon page of non-antique items. Wish there were more auction sites that let you narrow done your searches.
  4. Enjoyed every minute we were at the Des Moines Show.
  5. Jim, Thanks for posting the price. I had been at the show in Des Moines with a friend and wasn't tracking it. I feel pretty good about what I paid for my DE last year. Over 1000 trucks at the show, the only ED I saw was the one with the tow body that was in Mass last fall.
  6. The garbage truck topic brings up old memories of hanging on the side of a tractor drawn ladder truck going down the road at 60+ and sometimes you would hear it peg on the governor @75 and not think a thing about it. It really scares me now, WHAT WAS I THINKING in my younger days.
  7. i just knew we had visited truck museum in CT on our way to a convention in Waterbury and had forgotten the name. Oh well, the pics I posted are fine examples of old MACKS
  8. Thanks for the update on The Hall of Fame Museum. I too had visited in 2003 but had forgotten the name. All I could remember was it located on the north side of I84 shortly off the exit on the right side of the road. I have spent much time with google earth looking at the exits to try and find it so we could visit it again with no avail. Here are a couple of pics from my visit. We enjoyed our visit there, sorry it is gone
  9. I agree with fxfymn most of the ones from my beginnings are gone. Being partial to Mack’s, even if they came back it wouldn’t be the same. Having operated pieces from some of the manufacturers (MACK, Pirsch, Hahn, and Young) fxfymn mentioned it is good to remanence. I liked the large gauges the on Imperials FAFX had. At first I wasn’t a fan of the Pirsch 100’ twist-o-flex ladder as it would blow in the wind. Gone but not forgotten, they give old guys something to talk about. In earlier days each manufacturer had a distinct look/style. Not the cracker box look of today---however NFPA 1901 has made it much safer for all FF’s. Innovation is a good thing!
  10. It only rained while we were driving to the show just outside of Richmond at the VFW in Mechanicsville. Sure glad I fabricated a new insert for the wiper blade the other day! Hope the rain didn’t ruin your day.
  11. Great Day for the Mack. Brought home the tallest trophy of the day. Everybody loves a Mack!
  12. Getting ready for a Spring day out tomorrow. Happy with new windshield/frame and attachment to display all the original documentation for the truck.
  13. It won't upload. I am disappointed, some members can post photos week after week of photos that border on being creepy but it won't allow one pic of my sign to be uploaded
  14. Nice progress! Looks great. Does your windshield flip out on the bottom and is hinged from the top? If so what was your experience with the crank out mechanism.
  15. Just returned from a successful trip to the Carlisle Spring collector classic car swap meet, neon MACK sign and new windshield frame. I have to thank Kevin Brown from N/C Industries Antique Auto Parts for a perfect windshield frame for my “DE” very nicely built. Every time I have been to Carlisle it has been rainy or cloudy but it has never rained on my spirit!
  16. Really a good Day! At lunch I decided to cut down a 40ft tree that had died this winter. Started cutting at 2. With the help of my dear wife, a neighbor, our 42-"DE" and Farm Boss saw we had it down, cut up and carted off to recycle area and were showered for dinner and several glasses of wine at 6.
  17. Nice plate. Good Luck with your project, please post some pics of progress. I own a cousin of your "ED" a 1942 "DE"
  18. I agree with Jim, I have had several people want to argue about my truck being an ED rather than a DE of which both Jim and I own. I was talking with a guy a couple of months ago at the Keystone Tractor Museum about small Mack trucks and showed in a photo of mine and he told me it was a ED and was determined he was right. If you argue with ignorance you are whipped from the beginning
  19. Sorry to see your losses. Good luck with Sears, the last time I took a broken Craftsmen tool in I was told they didn't offer replacements anymore.
  20. bulldogboy, Here are two pics of Peebles Tandem axle Mack I ran across quite some time ago on the internet. We lived directly across the street from Peebles firehouse when I was a young boy. My Father volunteered there and was their President for awhile.
