  1. I'm looking at newer trucks on line, I wanted a 505 HP truck, but I see another truck that has 485 HP. Its only a 20 HP difference, but I was wondering if the difference is only in the computer and could be flashed to a 505 HP?
  2. Update: I put the cap on and seems to be working now. I figured I needed to keep the cap off to add more coolant but looks like that`s what I did wrong. All the normal functions seem to be back. Thanks for the quick response.
  3. I did the repair myself, no rags where stuck in the radiator. I did run the truck without the cap (cap on bottle mounted to the firewall, No radiator cap on Rad itself.) Is that maybe where I went wrong? I'm waiting for the truck to cool off to try with the cap on to see if it needed 10+ psi to build up or something. I also have a radiator testing kit where I could pressurize the system with a hand pump?
  4. Hey everyone. I had a tiny leak up high where the upper hose connects to the radiator. So I drained all the coolant and made my repair with JB Weld. But now I refilled the coolant and while idling to check for leaks and to make sure the're are no more problems, my truck is running hot. Temp gets about halfway to red. Coolant remains full, truck temp is hot, the heater core is cool, the radiator and lower hose connecting to the oil cooler is cool. Upper hose is hot, oil cooler is hot. I disconnected the heater core hose to check for an air pocket, but only got hot coolant. Any Ideas? I'm working on my 1999 Mack CH613 with the 355/380HP E7.
  5. My 1999 CH613 with the E7-380HP isn't the strongest pulling truck out there, but very dependable. Other leased trucks at my company like 2012 Peterbilts break down every three months. I've heard to avoid 04-06 engines. When ever they started using VGT Turbos.
  6. Do you have a outside door latch release for the passenger side door? Mack cant seem to figure it out.... It has threads on one end and a 90 degree hook on the other end.
  7. 10-4 on that. I put it on facebook and they said the same thing. Thanks
  8. 2015? Is it under warranty? The truck is rather new for my knowledge...
  9. If this is a morning thing though, I venture to say its a bad coolant sensor and the first owners programmed the truck to shut down as a precaution.
  10. I lost my VSS once due to a loose yoke. I don't recall losing power. Does the speedo still work? Check for any codes next time it happens, as turckster said. It will flash a number of flashes, pause for a two seconds, then flash another number of flashes. (Electronic Malfunction Lamp) example, if it flashes once, then pauses two seconds, the flashes seven times, your code is a 1-7, which is related to a coolant sensor issue. Tell us what code you get, we can tell you what it means, or at least where to look.
  11. I would think it is a bad dash switch if you get voltage regardless of the switch position (Off). My switch broke once, in the off position, the jakes were actually on. unless I tried to switch to high, then it may work or not. The switch was obviously busted though just by feeling how it moved. I would try a new switch first if you get power at the heads even though the switch is turned off.
  12. How much are a set of stage 3 injectors for our trucks? (99 355/380hp)
  13. It would be hell at the parts desk too. They look up everything by the VIN. If you use something else, they won't be able to find it.
  14. I think the parts desk at the dealer can pull up the diagram of the air lines.
  15. I went to mack and got a new valve but the new valve has a black ring around where it mounts against the firewall. Do I remove that or leave it on the valve? Pictyres are on my Facebook to see what I'm talking about.https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10205809649304493&id=1354961738
  16. To check codes while driving, have the cruise control switch in the off position, then press the "set" button and the malfunction light blinks a code. Example, 4-2 will blink four times, pause a second, then blink two times. Returning to solid. Check the next code the same way until codes repeat.
  17. Nice looking truck! Can you email the parts list to me? ankeffer17@aol.com Thanks. I think I want to do this, but I may get another truck first so I can keep running. How many hours do you think you had in swapping all the parts?
  18. So I would need to buy another oil pump (or pickup tube?) and turn the pan around? How much money did you put into the axle swap? My truck likely isn't worth more than $15,000.
  19. I'm getting to the point of needing new springs, repainting my truck, replacing the fuel tanks (or repairing their dents). But with all the work in my future, I was thinking while I'm at it, how hard would it be to convert my SBA (Set Back Axle) to a SFA (Set Forward Axle)? I know I need the 1.Hood, 2. Bumper, and 3. Shorter drag link (from the steering box to the steering knucle) And then move the battery and fuel tanks forward and add a second battery box on the pass side. And I'm assuming I can re-use my current steering axle? Am I missing anything?
  20. Why you gotta be mean like that? haha. Probably near November or December if its still there. There will be other trucks if its gone by then.
  21. Well, Hopefully it will be there in January, Need to save up a bigger down payment. There's a blue one in NC only a couple hours from me, but its not as nice as far as specs.
