  1. you sure you need whole hinge and they dont make a repair kit for it many cars they do have a kit to replace ive never had to buy a whole hinge and you might try ebay or type VW parts into search box and get more places to buy from other than dealer
  2. Call the dealer and tell them what happened , insist they replace the headline . Personally I've seen this happen several times before on different vehicles , I would recommend you locate the line coming out of your washer fluid reservoir and cap it off , simply don't use the washer for the back . When you are getting gas at the station use their window cleaner , shoot for 4 dollars a gallon you should make the person at the station come out and do it for you . If the dealer wont touch it or gives you the run-around , I would recommend some cleaner in a spray can called Tuff Stuff , it's in a yellow and red can and it's sold everywhere ( Wal-Mart , Auto Zone , Oreilly's , K-Mart ) I've had really good luck with it and it smells great too
  3. I have a 1997 Ford F-350. I got it about a year ago and have 20% tint on the two front windows and stock (20%) tint on the back windows. So 20% all the way around. I wanted to get some tint on my windshield and wanted to hear what everyone had to say. I want it to be dark enough during the day but I definitely want to be able to see at night with no problems. I was thinking either 30% or 35%. Which one of those do you all think would be best? And also I've been looking for a black tool box for my bed. Preferably a low profile box but anything will do. Anyone know where I should look? Thanks so much
  4. There must be a problem with the serpentine belt.Just get your car to a good garage.
  5. Pulling power could be a number od things: engine might be past it's best or could need spark plugs or service for example. If there is a screeching noise when you turn the wheel this would indicate the power steering belt needs adjusting or is worn out. If you depress the clutch and it makes a noise this will most likely be the clutch release bearing. Not such a big deal but it will knacker up eventually. I'd get into a garage and see what they think, all garages should provide a free estimate for repairs but ask before you go just in case. Being honest if the car isn't in very good condition besides these faults it's probably not worth repairing one of that age sorry but certainly see what your local garage say first and good luck with it.
  6. well usually when its a sensor you'll throw a check engine light. and thats good because then its something you can have checked. but if i had to guess at it, id say either MAF (mass airflow) sensor or TPS (throttle position sensor). MAF detects air load entering the engine and therefore how much fuel to send, at wide open throttle youve got HUGE amounts of air entering and with a bad MAF your pump may not be getting the signal to keep up. TPS detects how far your throttle plate is open also to assist in measuring engine load. sometimes a certain spot burns out on the sensor put only a specific spot (its a potentiometer so it isnt necessarily "good" or "bad" it can have bad spots) burns out so when your throttle hits that section, your fuel may hiccup for a second while you race past it or just change throttle position. hard to tell without getting my hands on it. hope this helps.
  7. If the bolts are tight and it's only leaching a little oil and not dripping onto the ground, then I'd simply check the oil level and add oil if it's low. Actually, that's so much easier to do when the car is on a lift and using the proper wrench breaker bar, that I'd take it in to any shop and have it done. It's worth the $50 charge. You could have the oil changed and replaced with Mobil Synthetic gear oil and help your gas mileage somewhat. Then they remove the rear cover and replace the gasket and oil. You'd really need Rhino Ramps and safety jack stands and wheel chocks to get under the car, and it's dangerous getting under any vehicle if you don't know what your doing.
  8. Sounds like a pot hole ate your front end. I bet a loose or broken strut and maybe a bad output shaft. Could be as easy as a linkage in the steering. I would get an estimate and advice from the shop on this one.
  9. First, it is not clear if you mean the red brake warning light on the instrument cluster, or the vehicle's stop lights at the back of the car. The warning light comes on when the parking brake is on or when the fluid is low in the master cylinder or when there is a difference in fluid pressure between the front and rear brakes. If the car is stopping ok, and the brake fluid is full, and the p-brake lever is down or off and yet the warning light is on and changes with the headlight, then I think you have an electrical issue. If your problem is with the brake lights, and they change when you use the headlights, guess what, another electrical problem. Your instinct to take it to a dealer is probably right. Please add some more information. good luck.
