  1. Well, what triggered the idea was a pair of '07 Granite gliders with spokes for sale in Florida a while back.
  2. A friend of mine had his excavator sitting at his dirt pit over the weekend a few years ago. He had the key hidden but some trespassing kids found it and managed to get it cranked. Apparently the stuck the boom and stick as far out as it would go, and would swing it full speed into the face of the pit, until the boom broke completely in two. Then, one of the little jerks fell and twisted his ankle, and the parents sued my buddy! Talk about wanting to murder somebody...
  3. I've been doing some thinking lately... Does Mack offer the Granite as a glider? If so, I was just thinking how cool it would be to have a new truck with a mechanical E7. I'd spec it out just like my RD. 15.5 Ox Body bed, 24.5 spokes, 4.64 rears, and an 8LL. Has anyone ever done such a thing? I've swore I'd never buy a new truck due to all the crazy emissions crap, but a reman 350 in a Granite would be the ticket. Would it be possible to get the cab wiring and instrument panel to work without an ECM?
  4. Correct. The Evans style factory a/c unit was pretty butchered up so I bought a NOS Kysor unit like they put in glider kits in the 80's. It's sitting in the sleeper. Haven't had time to install it yet. It goes with the truck.
  5. I think you just need to junk that CH and buy an R model!
  6. I think they've been around for at least a year or two. There's been a couple for sale at Tri State Mack in Memphis for a good while now. I'd like to give them a try. My triaxle has an Ox bed and I love the way it's put together. They're very reasonable on parts, as well.
  7. I've decided to go a different route and sell my Valueliner. 4 valve 350, T2090 Mack 9 speed, 4.17 Mack rears on Neway air ride. Factory 36" Able Body sleeper. Lots of new parts. I did a lot of work on the interior. Currently has a wet kit. Asking $12,000 with the wet kit, $11,000 without. I'll post some recent pics as soon as I get home in the daylight in the next few days. Thanks for looking! 870 995 3498
  8. That belongs to Rod Maddox, who owns Tri State Mack in Memphis. I tried to but that truck before they painted it up. I'm gonna say he's more than doubling his money if he gets what he's asking. If I remember right, that was a NOS grille, but it wasn't chromed so they painted it black.
  9. $4500 as is. Price may go up if I keep working on it.
  10. Not yet, I really need to move the green one first. It's still here.
  11. Yeah, it's a whole other ball game when you go crossing state lines. I had a DOT number for about 2 months until I decided the headache and paperwork wasn't worth it. I stay in Arkansas now. I never made much money with a dump truck until I got hooked up with a place to get dirt, then started advertising and pushing fill dirt and topsoil around town.
  12. A guy by the name of Chris Beaver out of Little Rock distributes oil, grease, soap, hand towels, etc to farm shops and industries here in the mid south region. My cousin farms over in the next county and gave me a can of this and some soybean based grease the other day after Chris dropped some supplies off. I used it to lube the door hinges on my RD. Pretty good stuff. I don't know if it will work for, er, other purposes or not.
  13. Nice! I think that's an R series International, though.
  14. I've got a deal worked out to buy a pretty sweet old slide bar D8. My question is, does anybody have a rough idea what one would weigh? It has the blade and winch on it. I'm guessing somewhere around 40,000 lbs. I'll get some pics soon.
  15. I would expect a tri drive would be hard to turn. A 90 degree intersection is almost impossible in my triaxle unless I pick the pusher up first.
  16. Yes sir, I used to work there with your buddy Tommy a few years ago.
  17. That's a nice hole! Does the state give you much trouble about that? We've done that for years, but a couple of years ago the city owned landfill hired an illegal dump inspector to go around and make sure everybody in the city limits abides and brings debris to the landfill for $30/ton. If they catch us outside the city limits they call ADEQ (Arkansas Dept. of Environmental Quality) on us. It's a big racket, if you ask me. All they've accomplished is now there's a whole lot of burned out houses that the owners can't afford to demolish.
  18. Man, I feel your pain! I've got two dirt jobs started and can't seem to finish either one for the rain. I get to work 2 days then I get rained out for 5. I don't ever remember it staying this wet for this long.
  19. I found this old R model the other day. Turns out it used to belong to a farmer that neighbored my uncle's farm until he sold out about 10 years ago. He had a reputation for taking very good care of his equipment. I need to dig a little deeper, but I'm thinking it may have originally been a Matlack truck. It was obviously green all over, and it's got pale yellow paint peeking through on the rims. It's got a pto switch in the dash but no pump control, so it could have been set up for a tanker, maybe?
  20. That's a nice little setup. You can't beat a tag trailer for convenience. I've got a '74 Miller Tilt Top that I use everyday toting my 312, 943, and d3 around on.
  21. I bought/traded this old truck from Superdog a little over a year ago. I had big plans for it, but I've decided a short day cab R model would suit my needs a little better. It's an '83 MH613, 2 valve 350, T2100, with Mack rears on Neway air ride. I have a few things to do to it. I'm about to put a water pump on it and get the starter rebuilt. I plan on putting some better rubber on it and a new exhaust pipe (I blew a tire on the way home from Superdog's place and the cap came off and tore up the muffler and heat shield. I've got a number in mind but I'm also open to offers. It's available as is but if I keep it around I'm going to keep working on it and loosely keep up with what I've got in it. I'd much rather see it go to a member on here than anywhere else. I think she'll make someone a good old truck. Located in Wynne, Arkansas.
  22. Well, I would start with looking at the clutch cable. I've never had a pressure plate swarm but I've been around several broken clutch cables and blown up throw out bearings. As for the electrical problems, I'm not sure what to tell you.
