  1. Maybe it was just hanging out in the shade listening to the radio with the switch on...lol I know it's really hard see how the hours are off that much.
  2. I know right? Even if you say half that at idle time it still doesn't add up. He said it was a local county truck.
  3. Realistically what do you guys think this truck should be priced at? Also does 193,728 miles and 8240 hours sound right? Salesman swore up and down those weren't roll over miles
  4. Are you saying the AI400, AI427 and AI460 have no EGR?
  5. I thought someone mentioned in this conversation that there were some early 07 MP7 engines with no current emissions. I looked back and couldn't find it. I think underdog is right, its pre to the current emissions law (DEF). I know its stepping out and I'm not 100% on the idea. I was up for an engine swap cause I know my truck, but buying and older truck and fixing someone elses problems doesn't sound to fun again. It's hard to find a dump that hasn't been road hard and put up wet..lol Especially when mack is the only truck in your radar. I've got to much work lined up and really need something ready to roll.....

  7. yeah, no kidding. I got schooled quick on that one...lol Looking at a donor truck. CH613 same as my lowboy truck. mechanical E7 427, guy says he thinks it's a 9 speed?? should know for sure on that tomorrow. Question is will it bolt right up to engine mounts or should I expect some mods?

  9. I'm trying to talk myself into a newer truck and keep old faithful for back up and site work. The engines are getting hard to find around here and the trans are very expensive and hard to find too.
  10. It's got the TRXL107, I thinks it's actually called a 6sp, I call it a 5spd. No inter-cooler or plumbing. The truck has a 23yd bed, with the 3rd down I usually leave the quarry at 81k +/-. It really gets a work out when I'm loaded..lol But it's never failed!
  11. The 79 has good specs, 4.64, 44k rears, 18k fronts. All original truck except engine, originally a 300+. The 237 worked fine making short runs from the pit and site work, but it just doesn't make the cut on longer hauls and the hilly back roads. If I just upgraded engine and kept the trans, could I tell a big difference?

  13. hello, hope everyone's doing well! it's been a while. Looking to either upgrade '79 Mack dump engine or buy another truck. If I upgrade I'm looking at engine (at least 350) , trans and eleminating the old cable leavers and going to air. The truck is in great shape just under powered. 237, two stick 5spd currently. Looking for engine recommendations or used truck recommendations. I know there are a couple years in the early 2000's I've been told to avoid but not sure. I welcome and appreciate everyone's input.   14. Thanks for the tips. The tank seems to have a little trash in it, most of it from welding a spot for the return line. I'm having trouble getting it all out. An inline screen of some sort would be nice.
  15. I haven't put a gauge on it, but it's obviously losing pressure at a certain point which makes me think its the relief valve. What should I expect if I pull the relief valve to inspect, anything going to fly out? Also I did find this doc on the muncie website. Since I did cut and weld on the supply tank the relief valve could be contaminated. Thought I got it all out but maybe not. Also, will the pump allow me to add a filter or screen on the supply line to remove any other contaminants?
  16. How hard are these to rebuild? I have the Muncie E2XL-27-BPRL. Looked online but not having any luck finding a rebuild kit.
  17. Well, the bad luck continues. Today was the first day I tried to use the trailer loaded. It works fine unloaded, it will raise and lower as it should. But with a load on it, it will not lift. It's like something is sticking open, engine doesn't load , it just stalls out and will not lift. Any ideas?
  18. Woo Hoo!!! Took the air lines off and sprayed PB blaster in them, let it sit over night and BAM!! Works like a charm. It's amazing the difference over the pony motor. Should have did this a long time ago! You guys are awesome, I really appreciated the help. Thanks!!

  20. It never ends...lol, The PTO has never worked better, didn't realize how bad it was until it was fixed. But, didn't get to dump my last load yesturday, somewhere in between the load before and the pit, I lost my PTO drive shaft. Someone must have forgotten to tighten it or push it back far enough. Twenty mile round trip from job to pit, needle in a hay stack! Rain, snow and sleet today so guess I'll be burning up the phone searching for one.
  21. I can tell the pto is engaging, but I don't really get a under load feel.
  22. Spool valve seems to be working. I'm a little suspicious of the 1inch wing type coulpler. I cleaned up the old one before attaching the male side and new hose I had made. It started raining again so I didn't pull it. Is it possible the old female side of the coupler is stuck?
  23. Yes it is very nice! I changed the oil. Don't think I got a lot of shaving from this, It just started the day I shut it down. Honestly I'm am amazed that it has run this long without incident. The engagement gear was catching only a 1/4 in or less. It was mainly the friction of the two gears touching that made it work. Put a new cable on it too, now you can use one finger and it slides right in place, very nice!
