    I want to say '77 was like the "overlap" year when the 3406 was coming in,and the 1693 was going out. Yes mackey ,the 1693 and 3406 had a one piece head. The 1693 was an overhead cam design. Al

    I never loaded anything heavier than my '97 Jeep Wrangler on it. I would definitely want to block it up if I loaded my D4 7U on it. I think I would just use my tilt-top for that. It presently has a 63" flattop sleeper on it,which works out good for a few shows that are overnighters. I would imagine that's what the Army Corps of Engineers used it for. It's got some incriminating track marks on the fenders! Al

    And you think your "Little Red Wagon" is short? Check out my '41 Fruehauf CPT-8! Started out as a pull trailer for a deuce and a half. Steel is very solid on it. Made some modifications to it,to make it able to load/unload something?????. Below is a trailer in it's original configuration. Al

    Ordered mine (SLC bullets) a few weeks ago and got them within 5 days. Look to be decent. Will check them out and put a little dielectric grease around the socket/bulb area before mounting. The ones I bought for the BCR,came from PAI. Look just as good. Can't beat their prices,for sure! Al

    It sure looks like beauty! An older gentleman in our chapter had a decent LJ he had run in the '60's. He passed,and the family asked me what they should ask for it. I suggested 10 grand. I think they let it go for half of that. I wish I would have bought that one too .Al

    Two spin on oil filters meant it was an ESI. Three spin ons meant it was an ESI +. Very interesting thread on deciphering these early Mack "Big Block" V-8's! Al

    The accessory relay should be checked out. It's the loud click you hear when you turn the key to "on". They go out after a while. Common. Not really expensive or a tough job. I would start there. Al

    The B in your ETB1005,should indicate your engine is equipped with the Mack Dynatard engine brake. Al

    Paul,I believe your thinking of the 9155 Cat semi-auto,right? The M-915 & 916 used those behind an NTC-400. Those trucks would really run. I went to Ft.Bliss,Tx. with my unit from Ft. Lewis,Wa. and I road with the guy that shuttled our conexes from the railhead to our area. I was impressed,to say the least. Guess they never really pushed it in commercial trucks,with Uncle Sam buying so many. Don't know of any quirks with them. Anybody else? Al

    Found this pic on the interweb the other day. This was Celli's parts and service arm,Northwest Mack located at their former shop on Belle Plaine Ave. in Schiller Park. A friend of mine bought both the bulldog and the signs. I hauled both back to his shop where they are proudly displayed. Al

    Those caps really only bother you when you're trying to sleep in the truck next to it! I had a Nelson thermally controlled rain cap on my truck. Opened when exhaust started warming the bi-mettalic spring-closed when it cooled off. First tree limb I hit with it rendered it useless. Good idea,just not on a dump truck working on a golf course! Al

    James, Celli had been a Mid-Liner dealer along with having authorized parts and service. He wanted to be a full-line dealer,but the territory was already taken by another dealership.And yes they sold a boatload of them around the Chicagoland area. Al

    On my '90 RD, the shocks were painted black along with the chassis,when brand new. That was the way it came from Oakville,anyway. Don't know if the same method was used in '80 or not,Paul? Al

    I think all the shocks for my MACK'S over the years , have been Monroes. Starting with my '79 R612St . When I would stop at my local dealer for a set,they would always give me some fresh Monroes. Al

    I have the same lighter in the BCR. Don't know about it being correct or incorrect, but It looks period anyway. You would be surprised what same items were used by different manufacturers. Found a N.O.S. one at a swap meet sitting in a box marked "Take your pick $1.00". I replaced the aged one in the truck! Al
