  1. In the '70's we had a few Autocar's like that running around (tractors pulling gravel-trains, and truck and pup trailer), with most having Cummins turbo 855, or Cat 3406. Saw a few COE Freightliner's pulling trains around Saginaw. But there were MANY K-100 Kenworths, and many GMC Astro 95's pulling gravel trains everywhere in the state. The kenworth's usually had Cat 1693TA or 3406 A/B, or V-12 detroits, and at least an SSHD or 44DS tandems. The Astro's had either 12v71n, 8v92n, or 8v92ta detroits, or 350+ h.p. Cummins, and at least SSHD or 44DS tandems. What few Brockway's I did see were either U360LL dump truck with pup trailer, or U459TL COE tractors with V-12 detroits pulling gravel trains, all with at least SSHD or 44DS.
  2. I love these.... Fuel cost and consumtion aside.....you gotta admit they were just plain awesome....
  3. Yes, it could be lost in the USPS system.....I'm no stranger to mail getting lost. I guess "patience is a virtue" is a saying that never applied to me either. So, I Wait.
  4. anyone else out there having trouble getting the movies/dvd's they ordered from truckerflicks.com? either they are the slowest packagers and shippers of dvd's on the planet, or it must be "normal" to wait a month or so for a dvd.....and the shipping for one dvd is $5.95! COMMUNICATION is not one of their stong points either. Don't expect a quick reply to an email......
  5. I'm in the Big Rapids area....near Morley (unofficial "truck capitol of Michigan")
  6. I was flippin' through the June 1971 issue of OVERDRIVE, when I ran across this article (Tractor Disection Report) on the FWD CO-64 COE. I have seen both the CA (conventional), and CO (COE) models on the opposing lanes on the freeway when I was cruising southern Michigan, and in Ohio back about '88-'91. Nuthin' flashy about 'em.....They were pulling chipper-vans. However, this OVERDRIVE article stated that the unflashy COE they were scrutinizing was powered with a 12V-71N(!!??!!). A buzzin' dozen??!! (a possible typo?) Anyway, I was flabbergasted enough by this revelation(?) to buy a '71 FWD CO/CA-64 sales brochure to help verify this option....it's on its way. Maybe I will get the info to verify this, or not. Either way, I'll have a nice color brochure to add to my collection. And I am a 12V-71N fan....since a few gravel-trains that had them ran the roads in my old home territory of northern MI.
  7. ...thought I'd join up and see about learning more about trucks...both old and new. I real dig the trucks made in the 1968-1976 time period. I'm researching literature and periodicals of the time in my spare time. Really dig the RL/RS-700, FL/FS-700 Macks.
