  1. Jim Tomer a.k.a. Tundra is the Jim that popped in recently that Geoff is referring to. Jim Hancock is the Jim with the pictures.
  2. To say I was stunned to see you on a MACK site is an understatement Jim! Glad to hear from you though! As mentioned in another comment there is a Other Makes page!
  3. I click the link daily but still getting the same thing.
  4. Thanks for the update Jeff. I'm really missing the WAI...
  5. I bought some B Model parts off of Mike Harbinson way back when because I felt like the items that I had were too rough to use. He told me to bring them along when I picked up what I bought from him. He said I always do this because what might be too rough for you might just be perfect for the next guy. When it came to Mack's he would do EVERYTHING possible to not have to "knock 'em in the head." That was always his way of referring to sending them to scrap.
  6. That stack looks to be in good shape (on the parts truck) Hang on to that. I know a few years back there were some guys looking for them.
  7. I believe that number should be 561-309-4008
  8. Thank you. That was taken on their driveway. The golf course is behind it.
  9. Terex/Advance is about 13 miles from my house. Their property butts up to a golf course that I used to play at often therefore I have made many a trip onto the property to retrieve golf balls. I also have hauled chassis' in and out of there when I had my wrecker service and have hauled drums for them when I was flatbedding. The picture is of a concrete pump chassis going to the Mack dealer for driveshaft work. You'd never believe just how heavy it was! The front bumper on that old Ford had 1,000# of steel shot in it and I still had to "brake steer" and let the clutch out VERY slowly if I wanted to keep the steer on the ground...
  10. Thank you! I'll just keep checking back daily.
  11. Does anyone here know what happened to the JOT site? Each time I try to click on the site I get "Service Unavailable". I know there are a few of us here that are also over there. Not a lot of those guys are Facebookers so it's hard to reach anyone off the site & it's been so long since I called/text any of the guys I'm not sure I even have good #'s for them.
  12. Around my parts a lot of recovery business still have a 750 or 850 in their stable. Most are mounted on FWD, Paystar or DM 6X6's for doing ag recoveries. The (somewhat) new thing that might finally make them obsolete are winch boxes/winch skids. I have seen many a seasoned recovery operator do with a Holmes 750 (25 ton) what the youngsters need a 50 (or more) ton rotator for.
  13. Superdog, Mike Harbison Sr, was in Morning Sun, IA. He had about 200 Mack's in various stages from just a frame or title to complete running, operating trucks. His boy, Mikey, is carrying on the tradition though. Mike is also the one who located and purchased what is believe to be the only surviving, of either 12 or 13, UPS 4X4 Mack MH. I believe that it will eventually be in the Mack Museum. I know there was a deal made and it went east.
  14. Thank you for sharing, Julie, and so very sorry for your loss.
  15. Glenn's daughter, Julie, has joined our forum. Julie, all of us here had the utmost respect for your father & his knowledge of trucks & equipment. Our thoughts & prayers are with you in your time of loss.
  16. Very sorry to read this. Thoughts & prayers to his friends & family.
  17. I've never been a fan of the rat rod craze but I have to say that "repurposing" an old truck is better than scraping an old truck. The fact is not all of them can be saved so at least what was left of this one is continuing to live on even if not everyone approves of the lifestyle.
  18. This was in our local news recently. Ray is LONG time friend, his business was originally on the same stretch of avenue as CW Transport, which my dad & late FIL worked for when I was a kid as well as 2 other businesses that I worked for as a teenager (Parrish Leasing & Brothers Express). He's been around awhile. https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/why-gas-stations-still-have-questions-about-converting-to-ev-chargers/
  19. I get the "making time" part but, personally, I would really be concerned about traveling at anything over 75mph on the tires of the day & especially in the summer. Hell most truck tires now are not rated for anything over 75mph. A very close friend who works at the local KW dealer told me several years ago that they were required to set the speed limiter (governor) no higher than the lowest speed rating on the the tires on new deliveries.
  20. We had 5 of these U Models. I loved driving them, pulling a single pup you could damned near do a U-turn on a wide residential street. They were also the 1st city tractors that we bought (used) that had A/C.
  21. Larry, You didn't meet Mike at Auburn? I was thinking that Michelle was there too but maybe she wasn't.
  22. Welcome aboard. You're right in the heart of Mack country & there are plenty of good folks with resources here at BMT.
  23. This old 1960 B61 abandoned in a alley in Chicago. Mike Pagel had a buddy in the towing business that was always finding him stuff, van trailers, amd a cool old truck now and then. He called me when he got this B in,just had to wait so mamy days.tjem it was mine. As you cam see in the 1st pics, getting it stuffed into Mikes empty trailer he ws getting was kinda interesting. At the time there was a loadimg dock at H&L Mack. I made sure it was,ok to use it so all was good on my emd. Mike was goimg to line things up with his boss to use one of their flatbeds and loading dock to tranfer it from the van. Evidently he forgot, amd had to be with Nancy that day for somethimg. I showed up at Morgans early that Sat.a.m.and while i was, hooking up,got less than a friemdly greeting from the bosses son. I explaimed the whole deal, all the time he was mumblimg under his breath about this not being Mike Pagel Trucking amd a few otjer thimgs. But i was able to leave witjout amy further trouble, after assuring him i was all legal, amd wouldmt need hiz trailer, which hadnt been moved in over a year or more, for very long. I buzzed dowm to Mediapolis, back up to the dock, unhooked my truck amd drug the B61 off Morgans flatbed amd headed back to Muscatine. I called Wayne Johnston up amd he went up amd hauled the B to my place. All was now good. It was pretty rough, but still had a engine amd 10 speed Duplex transmisson. Most valuable was a set of factory flared fromt fenders for wider front tires.these are found mostly on B53s. It took me about 25+ years to fimd a home for them.but i finally did. A youmg man from PA came alomg wanting them,he was collecting odder B parts amd parts trucks,so he bought the whole truck, amd some more stuff i had. He was passimg thru afted picking up his newly aquired Packard, amd a set of wings for one of his old airpalnes, too. He collected alot of stuff. So,thats how a old B model Mack, was abamdoned amd saved in the alleys of Chicago, sent to a yard in IA,and then returned to PA,whEre it all began. By the way, this trucks serial number is 33300. It is 70 numbers off my old blue truck. Richard Janesky I love the U-Model tow truck! Mike Harbison Sr. Richard Janesky its actually a DM,U models were lighter weight, for tractor duty. Its hard to judge sometimes by pics. And thede were some that were converted, but this is a DM. Richard Janesky Mike Harbison Sr. I see that now from the bigger front tires.... my Dad had 3 U-model tow trucks and I spent some of the best days of my life driving them..... Mike Harbison Sr. Richard Janesky yep, they were fun to drive. My son has a little U with a small crane on back, and i have 3 U model tractors. One is a U492T with a 3208 Catand a automatic. Gotta get it to run, they only made 2 of them. Mark Lowry Mike Harbison Sr. , I remember stopping by Morgan's yard one time and hearing that exact thing, " This is not Mike Pagel Trucking"
  24. As I re-read this before I posted it I thought about that too. She was an outgoing woman to say the least.
