  1. The only steel I see in those photos are the front bumper and foot plate right in front of the rear jump seat. Everything else on that truck is like my CF, alumininum. Try fire chiefs friend, just keep it off the paint.
  2. I just went and looked at our tillers. They are not king pins. You will have to remove all the bolts. Counted like twenty or more around it, and atleast 3/4 or more in size. Guys inthe shop said you will atleast need a 1 inch impact with big compressor to break them free.
  3. Right now driving up from Raleigh sunday morning to be there late afternoon. I plan on looking over the truckthat night and working on the big stuff monday morning. If all goes well hope to be on the road late monday afternoon.
  4. Albert, thanks for the offer. I will be at the SPAAMFAA summer national, but without an fireengine as I live in Raleigh. The truck has to be picked up in June due to space, so it will be long gone from there, unless you have a space around there that I may be able to get some temporary storage at. Maddog93, thanks for the offer. I am trying to get to Macungie since I will be close Sunday, but getting off shift work these days is like pulling teeth for that Saturday. Best its looking now is that I get off Sunday morning and drive straight to Delaware. I will keep you all posted though. That show is always on my radar, just only so many days off. Thanks for the filter sizes, I am going to look around for some filters before hand to have in the truck. Also, I was reading my old Mack firetruck library and they have multi weight motor oil listed as an option for a mix of driving in the 707C. The apparatus engine book I have says to only run straight weight 40 when operating in constant 90degree and above days.
  5. Yeap, its in Wilmington, DE as we speak. Thinking about heading up on the June 12 or 13th to dig into it. Trying to get up to the show Saturday myself, but cant get to the engine before Sunday. If anyone is close, I would enjoy the company and expertise. So far I have just been able to rope my dad in. The engine had been floating around the internet for awhile for sale. I just couldnt stand it anymore and had to throw an offer out. He sleep on it, they asked me what I was going to do with it. He was worried I would part it. Told him I grew up near it Butler and family was close. Then he accepted, everyone else wanted to part it and he couldnt let that happen. Thanks for the advice on the filters, any idea on their part #s. Trying to get some supplies before I go. Also, 40Wt on motor oil (any kind you all like), 90wt on the tranny, pump transfer and rear end? Not sure on the brakes. He couldnt tell me what they were.
  6. In service photo from Lyndora. Photographer unkown.
  7. Thanks for all the advice. This is my first B Model. I confirmed it still has a 707 in it and the paperwork says its a C. Not sure though. Will these trucks stock really go 60mph? That is faster than my CF.
  8. Ok, well I got a picture of it today to share. After the picture, I am really excited! I think its going to be a project, but not as bad as some of the ones I have tackled in the past. For those of you talking about gas, you must know that the truck I just sold had a V-12 Lymcoming in it and it only got 1 to 2mpg going down hill, so this will be like I'm buying a hybird. Does anyone know about the fuel filters on these? I am just looking at the screens in the fuel bowls or are there other places to check. I think the fuel tank is going to be my biggest problem.
  9. Never seen it done, but its going to take some cribbing. If its temporary to repair, how about airbags?
  10. I unloaded a firetruck last year to free up the shop and well my trucks have been lonely. I recently purchased site unseen a Mack B85. It runs and drive so I am told. Heavily used as a pumping/parade piece till 2005, after that occasional trips for fuel every once and awhile along with being inspected and tagged. I will get you all pictures as soon as I can. Here are my questions for you all: 1) Does any one have a used B model manual for sale or a scanned verision? 2) If the truck has a 707 how many fuel filters came stock on it, where are they located and does any one have the filter specs? 3) Anything else you think I should check, before attempting to drive outside of grease, brakes, oil and antifreeze from experienced 707 owners. For those of you that dont know, I love driving them home after purchase. I pick a two lane road and make a multi-day trip out of it going real easy. Oh and by the way, its a convertible so I hope it doesn't rain. Thanks, for the help.
  11. Yes, the have been consolidating. Their main factory is now in Summerville, SC.
  12. Bulldogboy, Well that information is great and it helps me narrow down my search. I am only going on hearsay, so I may be searching for something that doesnt really exist. Since you confirmed that the 1973 calendar doesnt have it, that will let me focus on a finding a complete 1972 calendar then. Thanks for sharing, Tim
  13. Here is the Mack CF rescue that they ran. It must have been awesome to see my pumper, the ladder and rescue heading down the street for a fire. The first picture is after the refurbishment in the late 80's, and the second picture is how the Mack was originally delivered. As you can see the all the Macks got refubished. During that time they were all painted the same, received new graphics and matching light packages. The chief wanted them to be a unified fleet. It also shows that every Mack they owned served many years. I was told this rescue was donated to the county and used many more years as a hazmat response vehicle for the entire county government.
  14. Mack CF LTI in Blue Ash, OH paint before moving to Millers Ferry, NC.
  15. After the squirt retired they added this Mack CF LTI platform to the fleet around the late 80's. My engine and this ladder ran many calls together until it was replaced by a new Pierce. After searching, I found this Mack running calls in Millers Ferry, NC. One nice day, I took a trip and got some photos of them together. They hadnt seen each other, since the last day they ran calls in the earlier 2000's.
  16. This is the C Model Squirt that Blue Ash, OH run during this same period. This is a 1964 model, I was told it was ordered as a pumper and the squirt was added later by the department.
  17. This was their 1958 C model mack fireturck that was the second pumper in the station in which mine ran in Blue Ash, OH. The first two pictures are it in it's orginal form, the third picture is it with a new rear body. It to was refirbished in 1986 and stayed in service many years. It is now in the hands of a private collector in MI. Photo credit to Steve Hagy.
  18. Carl, I have, but I just havent found the right person within the organization. The listen to the story, but I never seem to get a call back with information. Umodelnut, The fire department in ohio was very proactive and the chief wanted no firefighters riding outside, so my truck had four doors added in 1989 so it could stay in service. At the same time, they weighed the truck and realized the original mack axle in the front was to small, so they place a new grover 14,400lbs axle under the front. This let them bump up the gvw and they put even more equipment on it. It was at that time also, that the truck was painted red with white to match the rest of the fleet.

  20. My Mack Firetruck 40 years ago this week was featured in the "Bulldog Magazine". It was the one and only stainless steel Mack pumper ever made in Allentown. In November of 1972 they wrote a half a page on it and its new unique features. They tell me this issue was also the one and only Bulldog magazine with a Mack CF on the cover, while not mine, the CF was for Garland TX with dual beacon rotors and budd wheels. Sharp truck. My firetruck spent a few months being driven around as a demonstrator. It was unveiled at the Fire Chiefs Convention in Cleveland, OH that fall. After seeing it, Blue Ash, OH purchased it and added it to their all Mack fleet. While my truck is no longer yellow, it has survived and after 5 years in my care it is completely functional again. To commorate the 40 years of life Brutus and I stopped off at Mack's New World Headquarters for a photo shoot. I know, I know its not Allentown; but just like the truck the company has had to change too to the times. The good news is that they are both still in the good ole USA. Well here's to all the CF owners in the world! http://s266.beta.photobucket.com/user/firetoolman/library/#/user/firetoolman/library/ATHS%20Colfax%20NC%20Truck%20Show%20110312/My%20Mack%20at%20the%20New%20World%20Headquarters?&_suid=135199058291407125321796709551 Thanks for looking! I do need alittle help to complete my historical book on this truck. If you can help me locate the things below that would make my firetruck book complete. 1) The 1972 or 1973 Mack Truck Calendar, some older mack guys said my truck was in the calendar. 2) Photos of the Mack truck booth at the Fire Chiefs Convention in Cleveland, OH in 1972. 3) Information on or parts to restore a Moog Electrical Pumping System. Thanks, Tim H

  22. The Colfax, NC ATHS show today had a great turn out. It started out cold for NC at around 30, but the trucks came anyhow. Must have been at least 100 or more there. The Old Mack cranked right up and I had a nice two hour ride at my top speed of 55. I didnt take pictures of all the trucks, but I did take pictures of the ones I thought you would like to see or rare ones that some folks far away may never get to see. Enjoy, Tim
  23. I will be on the lookout for you, I am going to clean up the ole' CF and head that way. Hoping that the weather stays nice. I havent been to the show with a truck, so I am hoping that the turnout is good and there are some other bulldogs to hand out with.
  24. Any buddy heading to the ATHS show in Colfax, NC this weekend? Thinking about taking the Mack and was looking to convoy with someone West bound. Tim
