Can't recommend Grand Rock. Sent print and they could not make the part from the print. Dropped off the part in person and they LOST the original. Glad to hear others had good luck but not me.

Yea buddy! Gotta deliver those potato rolls while they are still fresh! 71 was the worst road from Cincy to Columbus (OH road tax dollars at work - NOT). I had "air ride" - my a$$ was about 6" off the seat! Got home and mowed the yard...finished in the dark...forecast for rain on Sunday. Leaving for PA on Monday morning. Great time at Lexington. Besides Freightrain...talked with David, maint1, Brocky, MHfred, and several others. Enjoy seeing the trucks but enjoy meeting and talking with the people. Saw mackdaddy in passing. Also met Hippy 70mackMB and his son. Larry - great timing leaving Lexington. I was about a half mile south of you when you entered I75. Saw what looked like a white/black B with black trailer. I put the hammer down and eventually caught up with you.

Stormy stopped by my truck on Wednesday morning. Time will tell if we make the print. Perhaps if there are not enough KWs, PBs, IHs, or Fliners stories we may make it. Lots of nice trucks. Between the rain down pours I try to take some pics of unique and different units. I heard last night over 800 on the grounds. Still have Friday and Saturday to go. Saturday's forecast is the best so far.

I never attended any ATHS shows until York. I heard Baltimore was a "disappointment". I thought York was an excellent venue, better than Des Moines (my 2nd ATHS show). DM was spread out and seemed disorganized. Also the hotel shuttle service left a lot to be desired. Lexington KHP is huge but the layout of the show appears better than DM. You need to take a shuttle from the show area to the hotel shuttle pickup/dropoff spot. Otherwise a looonnngg walk.

Practicing for old age? The mind is the first thing to go but I can't remember what is next.

I am here! Uneventful trip (best kind). KHP is HUGE but overall organized better than Des Moines. Over 200 vehicles on the grounds this afternoon.

On my way within the next half hour. Hippy - Watt's will not have a vendor spot so not sure where we could meet. Rain still in the forecast. Have a safe trip!

Who is going that is going? Freightrain Larry and I been discussing going and the weather. Latest forecast is chance of rain most of the week but at least no ice or snow. I thought about driving my personal vehicle but as Larry said "like going to a race without a car". So I am going to do my best to drive the Roll Hauler Express to Lexington on Tuesday morning. As before, I will be leaving the PA farm and traveling I99 to I68 to I79 and I64. If anyone is traveling that route perhaps we will see each other along the way. I will be staying at the Fairfield Inn. Safe travels everyone!

I don't have a good answer other than many retired in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Many of the E7 engineers were in their mid 40s and older with E6 experience. I believe there was an early retirement program (not sure if by Mack or Volvo). Of the ones that remained some worked on the development of the Volvo engine under Volvo's direction. As I mentioned, the engine was designed by Volvo and Hagerstown "Mackized" it for Mack applications. When the MP series was introduced, Mack said it was a Mack engine. Actually other then the valve/rocker cover and paint, it was really a Volvo engine. Other engineering staff were/are responsible for the "heritage iron" (E7 and ETech). But many of the "true" Mack people are gone/retired. I was a "flash in the pan" for my time at Hagerstown. I left for what I thought were "greener pastures". An old time Mack guy I worked with felt the "Mack" days were numbered (and this was around 1985). At that time Mack was owned by Renault. A joke that circulated back then was the bulldog was going to be replaced by a french poodle. Likely others may have a better answer. My info is based on some conversations with people I stayed in contact with during my "after Mack" career.

I too was and still amazed at how much HP the Mack E6 and E7 could generate considering the size of the engine. To my knowledge very few if any original Mack engineering personnel were involved with the MP design and most are no longer there. The MP engine is a Volvo design with little Mack input.

Oops, perhaps I let the "cat" out of the bag. I also hear some Dutchmen will be there too. Truly an international event. Maddog and Brocky - you all go to the Fogelsville Hotel for dinner Friday night. That leaves more food, desserts, ice cream for us!

I plan to arrive on Thursday afternoon. First I will stop at the Pizza Slut in Fogelsville for the stuffit buffit lunch then drive to the Wingate and check in. The mad Russian, er I mean Vlad, and I are sharing a room. If Vlad is there we will drive to the park in the Roll Hauler Express. If he is not there I will still drive to the park in the afternoon. We plan to be at the Nunnery on Thursday night to help tutor the NITs. Carl fxfymn will be our ground transportation during the show. I do not know if Carl is planning to be at the Nunnery. If not, Vlad and I may have to spend the night there. Friday night is the family foodfest. If you never attended, you need to be there. At this time I plan to depart the show on Saturday afternoon. Fred, Thanks for the list of future ATHS show locations. If I survive Lexington and I am still in good health (and the MH too)...Springfield may be in my plans. I wonder if the Springfield fairgrounds will be the site. If so I was there several years ago for the Hot Rod Power Tour. Nice venue, similar to York. The wifey will likely be retired and may be her first "road trip". Keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather next week and hope to see you in Lexington.

I agree, nothing says you can't go for a Sunday or occasional drive. I never been stopped but I am usually going to a show. Last summer I drove from PA to IA to attend the ATHS show in Des Moines. I never got stopped and went thru several weight stations. Perhaps you can tell the cop you are going for coffee and donuts. Invite him along and tell him you are buying.

I have HISTORICAL plates on my 1992 MH. OH states the vehicle must be at least 25 years old. I live in Stark County and the DMV did not blink an eye when I asked for historical plates. BTW, I have a commercial plate on my trailer (2005). If they ask, tell them you do not use the vehicle commercially nor for hire. As long as you are hauling your own property, there should be no issue. You will need a CDL if the GVW is over 26K. The DMV gets picky if you want RV license. It must be a "motor home" or pull a travel trailer. The RV license will not allow you legally to pull a trailer hauling another vehicle (unless your tow vehicle is a RV). Best bet is to go for Historical plates as long as it is at least 25 years old. You do not need a medical card if you are not for hire. There is an exemption form you must sign. You might letter the side of the truck with "NOT FOR HIRE". HeavyGunner - if you have a big a$$ motor home, you don't need a CDL either. Just think of all the "grandpas and grandmas" out there driving a 45' motor home.

Larry, You should be okay to leave your trailer attached unless you need access to unload your car each day. I need about 20 feet rear access to unload/load the cart and also space to drive the cart from the parking spot. I prefer not to leave it sit outside if it is raining. I know picky picky. I already paid the registration fee for the trailer. Here is the map from the ATHS site
