When I was almost home from Ocala my left fuel tank started leaking. mMade the last 55 miles home. The top seam was split in a few sections and the Farmer I bought the truck from had a truck shop in Riverhead repair it. The never welded it they used J B Weld on it! My question is the tanks I have are are 58 gallon each, I located a pair of 110 gallon R model tanks for $450.00 for the pair. Both the 58 gal tanks and the 110 gal tanks are 25" dia.. I would think all I need to do is relocate the rear tank brackets. Right?? The senders , line and caps are all in the same areas. Paul

One of the problems with steering wheel repair is cleaning it. The wheel absorbs years of body oil and general grime which will prevent a good bond between the wheel and the repair material. One of the best ways to clean it is to soak it in castrol Purple Power fo 24 hours, wash off with dish washing soap and let air dry. The purple Power probably will remove a lot of the paint so be fore warned about that. Also radius the sharp edges of the crack to blend in the repair and to prevent the cracks from returning. The sharp edge will cause the reappear, a radiused edge, the crack will normally not. The main thing is to get it clean.....oils and dirt are the enemy of epoxy, bondo and paint. Paul

I went with his mom to see the "counselor", I sat there fighting of the urge to choke him. He explained to us how America works. Took him down to Ocala with me, had a good talk with my grandson (well, I mostly listened) and set up a game plan. He's out of school in July and was already accepted in Wyo-Tech. Got him an after school and saturday job at H.O. Penn the local Cat dealer fueling up and cleaning their equipment and general shop helper. He's got a real passion for trucks and equipment.. Paul

Thats how I was raised, but it's not old school , it's just plain old family values uncorrupted by the schools or T.V. I was raised by strict parents, L.I. potato farmers on my moms side and baymen on my fathers side. Learned at an early age to work for what you want and that do any job with pride. The two main things they taught was that if you can't afford it you probably don't really need it, and families take care of their own. My sons have the same values and my grand son does too. Although the school "career counselor is trying hard to change that. He wants to go the Wyo-Tech to be a diesel Mechanic. His counselor keeps telling his that manual labor is for emigrants. I won't get political but maybe POGO POSSUM said it be" we met the enemy and he is us". Paul

It was Mr.Norms Charger,Barry Setzer's Vega,Jungle Jims Nova and a blank on the 4th car. Insurance company would never allow that now! National was a 300 M.P.H. track,Hamptons Drag A Way was 200/250 depending what lane you were in. The right lane had a dip about half way down.

It was modeled after on at a sand mine here....close to a swamp. LOL Paul

4" thick is considered minimum here. My slab outside of my shop is 25x25 x 6" thick 4000 psi fiberglass reinforced concrete with an expansion joint at 12' 6" and steel screen to prevent cracking. We did a 6" layer of compacted 3/4 to 1" gravel before the slab to prevent frost heave. Took about 9 yards as I recall and the Fiberglass reinforcement was only $100. more. One thing I wished I did was a slight crown for drainage. The Cat that holds my mail box in my avatar I tugged it all over the slab and no problems. Paul

Told my wife I'd like to go this year and she already was looking for a place for us to stay. Thunder Valley was the farthest we ever went. Our carrier was a 1967 D 500 roll back with a 225 slant 6. Learned a lot of new words that trip. I have "Super 8" films of when we were there,no idea how to get them on VHS or CD though. Paul

I never really thought about it on the B's but your right. My mixer has vinyl on the doors with the Mack logo, but your right its after market. I suggested a non fiber board panel because I've found the quality of what is out there now is poor. The color flakes off and they aren't moisture resistant as the OEM. Paul

Always wanted to go there and to the Marston Mile .....well the Hot Rod Reunion is stiil on and Cackle Fest at E town in May or June I think. Hey Mike, isn't the old Thunder Valley strip near you?? Ran there in 1972 with the Icemaker, beautiful track and surrounding area as I recall. Paul
