  5. The C in C had three requests to allow A) a recovery, an attempt to relink control and fly it out and C) destroy it and refused. According to the White House press release, it was because he did not want to commit an "act of war" Better a gift to our undocumented enemies I guess? AS for the Japs, thank Douglas MacArthur for the post war treatment of them. Minimal War crime trials, kept the Emperor, kept their Flag and we rebuilt their factories. Paul
  6. BWD is the engine control division of Standard Motor Products, been around since the dawn of autos.Made right near the original Mack Plant in Long Island City.Paul

  8. I'm pretty sure it was added to that spot along the way. I wouldn't bet, but I think the 335 h.p. Cummins is a later installation. Paul
  9. Sweet. It'll end up the first stringer. Nothing like a Superliner, wish I could find one. Paul
  10. Did you look at the spider for cracks or flex marks where it bolts to drum? Had a cracked spider on a trailer and it sort of acted the same. Paul

  17. Tommorow is the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Here is some Pearl Harbor vets talking of memories. At about 3 1/2 minutes you'll see the capsized Oklahoma. My uncle died there. He was China Navy and was on the Pennay in 1937 when the Japanese attacked it. Transfered to the Okie because it would be safer. Wish I could be there at the new Oklahoma Memorial for it. I seem to be missing a few, But I was raised that friends are friends because of how you are and how you treat them ,not because of views or opinions. I value all I have. What is interesting is I, recieved 2 negative reps from "members" with no posts. One for asking what color a R model was and one for some other equally piddly thing. Paul

  20. I've seen that before! PACCAR makes a truck cover that looks like a Mack, so people don't see the Paccar being towed. Kind of like Ferrari transporting their dead cars in an enclosed trailer. Stealth my friends, stealth. Paul
  21. Happy anniversary to you and yours!~ You are catching up to me and Gail, only a year to go. Paul
  22. HO Penn Caterpillar, where my gran son works part time has one to haul their low boy for pick up and delieveries. Looks o.k. sounds o.k. but watching the driver go up the road with an automatic just ain't natural, probably a good tranny but I don't like automatic anything. Paul
