  1. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/4847983777.html Much to my chagrin i have decided to part with the old girl. There is a thread in the classic Mack forum from when i aquired this truck about 18 months ago but i don't how how to link it. I have been using this truck doing some rental work and some of my own work but it's just too much truck for my needs.
  2. Thanks Joe, I saw that Mack still listed them in the catalog but was hoping to maybe source one aftermarket and save a few bucks. Looks like i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and head over to Mack this week. If you don't mind me asking what did they whack you for the mat? You mentioned that Al Lembo may be able to provide me with a cowl panel for the truck. How would i go about getting in touch with him? I think for the time being the body is going to be a bit darker shade of gray and the wheels will remain white. I've got a bit of time to think about the final paint scheme but am leaning towards Black and Burgandy on the cab with a grey body, black frame and undercarrige, and white wheels. Unlikely, i've been looking for a restorable DM800 for quite some time and to find one spec'd as well as this one is would be tough (the truck even has functioning AC). But thank you anyway. I'm not sure who Barry is but if he's got a floor mat i would sure like to talk to him.
  3. Batteries are back in but the interior is still out until i can find a new floor mat - any suggestions.
  4. Thanks Joe, not quite up to snuff with that gorgeous truck of yours but i'm working on it. Def plan on pushing and hauling snow with it this winter (come on mother nature). The truck really is quite solid and little by little i'll get her straightened out. I could use a little help locating some parts such as a new floormat, possibly a hood, and a drivers side cowl replacement panel if it's available (i've found them for R models but not for the DM) if anyone knows where i can locate them.
  5. Thanks Vinny, i would say you are correct about it coming from the factory with a 237 considering the vintage and model #. Thank you, the guy i bought it from seems to think it has 65k rears but i suspect it actually has 58k rears. I'm gonna climb under her tomorrow and see if i can locate the stamp on the housing to know for sure(a quick gander revealed a stamp that read 96 on the front of the housing but i don't think i was looking in the right spot). The frame is not very good with typical rust jacking and a few cracks along the flange (some repaired some not). My plan is to clean out the rails as best i can, repair the cracks and run the truck for the winter. I'm in to this truck for very short money so if everything works out i may consider re-railing it in the spring and restoring the truck to its former glory.
  6. Hey guys, i have been a member here for a while but have pretty much kept to myself and just enjoyed reading about and looking at other peoples trucks. Well i guess now it's my turn and would like to show you my recently aquired '68 DM885SX. I bought the truck from a friend of my dad who had bought it from a former business partner and that's where the trail runs cold for me. The truck does say "custom built for D'Libro Excavating" on the horn button and through Google i was able to learn that there is such a company out of Rhode Island. At some point there was alot of time and money spent on a rehab of the truck as indicated by the newer cab and pedigeed engine (possibly a 285 or 300?) but she is overdue for some tlc. Anyhoo i guess i'll just post up some pics and let you fellas share some insight with me. Sorry for the crappy pics - once i get the batteries and interior back in it i will pull it out and get some better shots.
