  1. when I go to work tomorrow I will get the number of these autocar buffs out in central PA. They bought a couple old autocars that we had and couldnt get rid of
  2. Well he'res one for ya......someone told me the only thing that will really work in an extreem case is to heat up the rim pretty hot and then blast nitrogen around the rim real fast. Aparently the quick temp change pops the two parts apart. Anyone every heard of this?
  3. Well I tried the bottle jack and chain approach.....I welded a stub of pipe on to a piece of angle so i could slip that over the piston of the jack and the angle could hold the chain....i got it so tight that the angle (4"x4" 1/4"th.) bent back and the chain stretched before the jack started oozing oil out. These things are on pretty damn tight, I dont know what is going to get them off>>>heat is my next step I guess...
  4. Thanks for the suggestions guys, hopefully something will work... Check out my gallery I just uploaded photos of the truck. -wes
  5. Here are a few pics of my project truck, 1959 Chevrolet Viking 2.5ton, 283 Taskmaster V8
  6. Well I am deep into restoring a '59 Chevy Viking 2.5 ton truck. I am at the point of prepping the frame for paint and ran into some trouble... The leaf spring u-bolts are rotted out right at the saddle and I am going to replace them before blasting and paint. The truck currently has two wheels on the rear (it's a dually) but the inside wheels are all that have been on in recent years for ease of pushing around.....but they are TOTALLY rusted to the hubs. I have spent two days banging and prying, grinding, heating, nothing will work. Any ideas? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. -wes

Ditto to that....I only have a B and regret it. Also, since you don't know anyone who drives i think you should go to driving school even though it's expensive...at least they can teach you how to drive manual. its a little different than a manual car to put it mildly. a lot of people will tell you the only way to learn is to have your old man teach you.....cause no one knows how to scream at you like a father. I think this is sorta true, but considering....school isnt too bad. As for the book, you will have to get it because the written test is based on it and whether or not something is true...if it says it in the book, its the law on the test. You can also go to youtube and search things like "big truck shifting" etc. ...alot of people post videos on how to do stuff....some is good advice, tricks from people who have been driving a truck since they could reach the pedals. My last piece of advice.....you are in an enormous, heavy, and powerful vehicle....dont drive like your in a honda civic.....it really burns my ass to see truckers speeding too fast, tailgating, etc.
  8. Hey guys.....I have figured out a way to record sounds from the internet like youtube videos, etc. i.e. now when i sign into my computer i have an e-7 starting noise and when i shut down a long drawn out jake brake.... if anyone is interested, let me know I can give you instructions on how to do it. wes
  9. This reo looks to me like one of those canadian-built trucks like pacific that if just a fusion of a bunch of other parts......the cab is definately an early nineties western star cab and the hood looks like a modified T-800 hood. I have see pictures of thes late model duamond reo's before...not sure who was making them, but they certainly aren't around a lot, and definately not their own manufacturing entity like any of the big truck brands..... wes
