  1. Thanks! If they are gummed up, what else is gummed up that needs worked on while I'm down there?
  2. When I engage the parking brake on my Mack, sometimes all the air releases through the valve in the cab. Other times it does it normally, coming out at the brakes. What's stuck that's not working properly? On a few occasions the brakes have not released properly and if I try again they do release fine. Seems to me something is kinda stuck. Any help would be appreciated, I don't know too much about air brakes, yet....
  3. Dyed diesel is ULSD, just like all the crappy highway fuel.... The don't check here much, but I do hear about it once in a while. I don't bother, I run highway diesel in my powerstroke. I could get bulk dyed diesel delivered for 2.19 over the weekend. Theres 45-50 cents tax added to get to highway fuel. Why is it still 3.15 at the pumps!!?!?!?!
  4. I've posted some pics in my gallery of our yard silage truck, just use it to haul silage from the piles to the commodity barn on our dairy.
  5. Yeah, there are always allot of variables, and I'm not well versed in most of the other Volvo lines. We've had three 924G's, and the new ones are H's already. I looked long and hard at the Deeres, 544J, and the new K series, but decided against them, but it was a tough decision.
  6. I dunno any more. I have had 3 Cat loaders in the past 6 years, with a combined 26,000 hours on them. The first one was the best, we ran nearly 13,000 hours on it with little problems. and the quality and serviceability has gone down significantly since then, and I just signed off to trade out the 7,000 hour machine, and I had to go with a Volvo. The Cat "system" has deteriorated significantly. They are just not as serviceable anymore, and they require more servicing. The dealer support is not getting any better either. I'm not sure that the Volvo will be much better, but I have quite a few friends that have gotten great lives out of the Volvo loader, and they burn less fuel to boot. I will know more in a few months I suppose, as I have yet to take delivery, but I'm optimistic for now.
  7. Mines plumbed to the intake side of the turbo. What would be better, running it to the boost side, or running it of a separate air intake filter? Does anybody have a link of the service bulletin where it was plumbed to the intake manifold?
  8. Thanks for the input. I get about 1/4 cup of oilly stuff out of the first tank daily now. I guess I did get some of the accumulation cleared out. I can't find a number on the pump, I will try calling Mack and seeing if they can give me an ID based on the remaned engine's serial number. The pump and the block seemed to be painted at the same time.
  9. Hi guys, I found this forum the other day, seems like a great place. I am working on the truck in my profile. I bought it this summer and am working on it when time allows. It's in decent shape, and it will not be in highway service anymore, just a yard truck. The air compressor seems to be putting out allot of oil. The first tank has oil coming out, a thick liquidy grease, gray in color. I'm guessing the pump needs rebuilding? How do I determine what model it is? I have a 350 mack motor. The pump is on the passenger side. Also, where is the governor? It seems to be working fine, it never really pumps over 120 psi. Should I be running a dryer/separator of some sorts? Do I need to flush the system with anything? How is that done? Thanks!
