  1. My solution would be to get a cabover. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  2. Don't know if it still applies to modern E7's, but several Mack techs told me #2 rod bearing is always first to fail, because it is the last to receive oil as it is pumped through the engine. This after I spun #2 rod bearing in my 673P.
  3. Just say you're doing a test drive after repairs! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  4. WOW Imagine that... UPS asking for an exemption. Because the new rules don't make sense? This is why a large blanket policy rulemaking won't even work for large carriers. Just the same as small fleets and owner operators have been screaming, ELDs will cost time and money. UPS's solution seems to make sense, maybe rather than an exemption for one carrier, FMCSA should take the advice of motor carriers and apply some of their thinking across the board for all carriers. The government could learn a thing or two from UPS about efficiency and productivity.
  5. No more boxed kit from Mack?!? I know I bought 2 kits for my E6 not more than 6 months ago. Still the most economical way to get filters.
  6. There is no driver shortage. There is a pay shortage. If drivers are expected to stay out out away from home, they should be compensated appropriately.
  7. My first MH had 210" wb on camelback, and it rode nice with an air ride trailer. I am looking forward to putting my current truck on the road, 185" wb on Neway air should ride like a dream!
  8. At least with a cabover, you'll be the first one to the scene of the accident!
  9. How fast do you want to go with a Michigan train? With an overdrive 13 you should be good for 70 mph. And the Mack 4.42s are bulletproof. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  10. Some of us still enjoy cabovers! For reasons you describe, Roger and more. My first MH went to Africa, and I really don't want another V8, so I'll try my luck with Ol'Blue here. Fresh paint over the weekend. Almost ready for the road. E6 350, Roadranger 10, Neway air ride. Should get the job done.
  11. Don't know about swinging the fenders, but the clariben fiberglass tilt hood would solve your problem. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  12. I learned in grade school science that water is an odd compound, in that it is in its most dense as a liquid. Ice has a lot of airspace that disappears when it melts. Water takes up less space than ice.
  13. Most of an iceberg is under the surface already.
  14. That doesn't make any sense?!? Should be within driver's reach.
  15. I agree with you, Mike. That's why I choose not to participate any longer in what the industry is serving up. For some odd reason the FMCSA has granted an exemption to those of us who still have the ambition to rise above the mindless robots of the trucking industry and control our own destiny by making our own decisions. I will run my 1985 cabover as long as I am able to do so. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  16. Don't think I've ever seen an olive green plastic dashboard R or F !!! Very interesting! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  17. Dash cams we have at work have a "panic" button the driver can manually save an event. The footage 30 seconds previous is saved, until you manually stop it.
  18. I've worked myself into some extra time off work, so I will be at Macungie Thursday afternoon or early Friday. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  19. I agree with your assessment, Kevin, that the travel ban as written is a silly attempt at politically correct lip service. The order should include all those nations that you list, or none at all. But that does not mean it is unconstitutional. The President is well within the law to limit immigration in the name of safety and security. Funny how British authorities made several arrests within 24 hours of the London bridge attack. It seems we know who these assailants are, but fail to act before it is too late. What about an ounce of prevention? That is all our president is trying to do. Leave PC to the curb, the Muslim extemists already discriminate against all of us, they wish us dead.
  20. I'll never forget I saw a seven axle rig like that years ago in Virginia, asked the driver how much can you haul with all those axles, he said "18 ton"?!? That seems crazy to me too much trouble for 18 ton... When you can legally gross 80,000 lb. on 4 axles in NJ. States need to get together on their configurations. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  21. I drive my F model 673P so I can save wear and tear on my turbo MH.
  22. My 1970 F parts truck had a steel dash painted olive green.
  23. Yes I want all those things. Remove all the warning labels and let natural selection run its course.
  24. I would respect your knowledge, Ron, but I thought they went along with the R+3 in mid-'73? Was that also the introduction of the 86" cab?
  25. 1985 E6, thank you very much. I suppose 4 valve heads and a puff limiter are emission components I can live with.
