  1. I've always been curious how did they lock the doors at night on the r model macks when they crawled into the sleeper at night.
  2. I have a 1987 Mack and the shutter cylinder is leaking Mack dosn't make them anymore is there other options like to keep original if possible it sits at the bottom of shutters cant see it cause of the fan shroud didn't want to take it apart just yet till i new what a person could do.

  4. my 1987 Mack speedometer is acting up gets stuck right over then it work its self back and is jumpy i no cable is new was wondering if its the head or would it be down by transmission.
  5. I was wondering has anyone swapped a newer Mack engine into an R Model .Was thinking of swapping my E6 350 for a 454 Mack engine.Got 1.2 millions KS. on truck now a little more power be nice.Thanks

  8. Yes i have block heater some times when you moved a piece of equipment out to job site and bring truck home after work.It is -30C sometimes.

  10. Met the fellow that owns that truck couple years ago at an auction sale he total redid that truck he said, hauls lumber from my area once in awhile.Nice rig.

    30 years old still runs nice everything works tight truck painted once just to cover company colors looked a lot of years for one been in my home town for bout 20 years i think.
  14. My 87 has a tick when its driven and warmed up. Not a constant tick, more of a hit and miss tick. Doesn't do it when it's cold. Thought it was my air conditioner but it's not. that oil is good steped on the clutch still there. Oil pressure is good. Could it be an injector going bad? Thinking if it was a valve, it would be a constant tick. Any ideas? Thanks
  15. Lol i'm to old school and to old to spend 150k and i like the smoke.New is nice but my hands are dirty most of the time.
  16. Don't think its turned up puff limiter was unhooked when i bought it hooked it up but not sure if its working yes it dos smoke when you step on it it is 30 years old with 1.3 kms. truck is all origanal pretty mitty truck
  17. on my 87 mack 350 4v it blows black soot when i first start it and if i rev it up it blows out more just wondering what causes this.
  18. On my 86 Mack, the throttle shaft moves in and out about 1/16 of an inch [governor lever]. Is there supposed to be spacer in there? Think this is part of engine flutter but also the hole is worn were the throttle lever attaches to the pump lever. Ordered a new one. Thanks

It's not that the smoke bothered me but read up on oil could get deluted.The guy i bought the truck from owed it for the last 15 years and was just used to pull his equipment around not very many miles and regular oil changes was my neighbour.I was possibly looking at doing some highway hauling as of now i just haul my equipment locally , i average 7thou. miles a year.
  20. It is 350 E6 4 valve has 6100 hrs.
  21. Should of stated it has thirteen speed road ranger i was shifting at 1700 rpm. is that to low.
