  1. I knew the man who owned this 55 COE he bought it in 56. He ran Wash-Or-Calif and Id. with it in the early years. His name was Bob Shore/name on the door was Shore Line. He was a tough old bird-bib overalls and a chain drive hat.
  2. Lampson Crane Manufacturing in Pasco, Wa. has a F-210D . They still use it in their yard hustling crane parts around. Truck Shop
  3. And I will agree with that also. But the only way prices come down is by buyers closing their wallets. Trucks are not street rods or muscle cars at least if you want to haul in the winter. People see what someone is asking for vehicles on craigslist or truckpaper and think they can get that also. Plus every vehicle over 30 years old is rare or a barn find. I have several old trucks that are on a list and every one wants way more than there worth. So I will just look at them and record some pictures. Old trucks are neat you can like'm but not love'm one old trucker told me years ago. Truck Shop
  4. I will agree with you on that, Freightliner Corp was going to buy it but the deal fell through. You wouldn't believe what owner wants for it $$$$$$. Truck Shop
  5. She was spawned in a corn field and a queen in her day.
  6. I have over eighty old trucks listed in my little black book. This just one of them. This is a 1958 Model RD 405 Corn Queen. 220 Cummins 5x4. Owner bought it in 1960. And he is still in love with it. [Note the pyrometer mounted on top of the grill}. That is a true antique in it's self. When was the last time you saw an original stack mirror? Truck Shop
  7. Now that's a real pickup! Hat's off to the guy that built it.
  8. How old is the clutch? Normally when you feel the clutch peddle pulsate the clutch fork is rubbing or hitting the pressure plate when it's depressed. Several things can cause this. Worn cross shaft bushings and cross shafts and sometimes the clutch is worn out and at the end of it's adjustment. Drop the inspection cover and take a look see. Truck Shop
  9. The biggest problem with either solo or manual is most trucks are under spec for torque rating of engine. The clutch should be rated at 200 ft lbs more than the engine puts out at peak torque. We had solos in our OTR's 35 of them crap-ola. We run 550 hp 1850 torque series 60's. The only clutch I will install is the 208925-25 Eaton rated at 2050 ft lbs. We have a lot of trucks with 600,000 on those clutches. The other thing is I don't depend on the driver to tell us in the shop the clutch needs adjusting. We check all trucks at every short and long service which is every 7,500 miles. I automatically check and adjust as needed. Truck Shop
  10. You should either use straight 50wt motor oil or 50wt synthetic transmission lube. But in your case 50wt motor oil will be just fine. Truck Shop
  11. The X in the RTX stands for overdrive and that is a good gearbox. I've rebuilt a lot of Eaton/Fuller transmissions and I only use Eaton parts. Mack gets Mack parts, Cat gets Cat parts. Lol Truck Shop
  12. Check the air pressure on the delivery port of the regulator. Should be 65 psi, if not then you have a regulator problem and those are not adjustable. It's an air shift problem, I doubt there is anything wrong with the back section. You want to put oil in it after the regulator not before or in the supply hose. Truck Shop

  14. What series of 15 speed is it, RT or RTO? The fifteens really are no more expensive to repair than a 13. The rear sections are pretty straight forward when it comes to rebuilding that area. The front is no different than any other Eaton front section when comes to repair. When you say sluggish from Lo to Hi does it grind or just slow to change range? If it is just slow remove the supply hose from the regulator to slave valve on the left side of trans and squirt some air tool oil down that hose and reconnect. Then operate the range selector usually it will speed up the shift. The slave and range cylinders can get dry and cause that condition. Next I would remove the shift tower and manually shift to fourth to check for stiffness, But check the shift tower and shift lever too. Truck Shop
  15. Might have to swap the bells on the transmissions depending on the rear motor mounts. Drive line length's and that depends on the wheel bases. Truck Shop
  16. Each make of truck has it's own set of problems. PacCar and Freightliner trucks brake just as many crossmembers as any other brand. I have replaced alot of Pete crossmembers and end brackets. I just look at a frame like it's a ladder, it can only take so many cycles. The best set-up I have seen is the use of huck rivets over using bolts from the factory. Truck Shop
  17. A book I have shows that as being late 50's early 60's. It doesn't give a model number but it was rated at 164 tons gross. Truck Shop
  18. One place I worked for had a 1966 RL. With a short ser# I know the only four numbers in it were 1792. Aluminum rails, 335 Cummins, Spicer 5X4 and SQHD's. I didn't know there was a controversy over the doors. Kenworth came out with that door design in late 1963. Truck Shop
  19. I'm a long ways off----------Walla Walla, Wa. Some years back I almost landed the ad for Kenworth's 60th anniversary. My brother was dating a woman that was over European finance, her office was three doors down from KW Paccar CEO Mark Piggot in Seattle. I gave her an original of a 49 KW on Thanksgiving . She told me they had searched high and low for someone like me. She showed it to Piggot on that next Monday and got the OK. It was too late The deal had been signed for a photo shoot the Wednesday before. Truck Shop
  20. No where I live truck shows are few and far between. Plus I work 6 days plus a week, so not much time left. Arthritis is creeping into my hands so I haven't done very many of these the last eight years. Truck Shop
  21. I use to render a lot old diesel trucks of any brand. Here are a few of the Macks I've done
  22. Hello folks I'm a diesel and gas truck mechanic of 44 years, 4 years of it auto machine. My hobby is pen and ink drawings of trucks and cars. Truck Shop
