I've had it 3 years. It is a 65 Mack C85 fire truck. I have not changed the oil in it since I've had it, but will be soon.i have the service manual it says either straight 30 weight or 10W 40 or 10W 30

I have a 65 Mack with an ENDTF673 Diesel in it. At 170 degrees operating temp the oil pressure is at 80 psi at the gauge. I think that is to high. Either my gauge is bad or I have an issue somewhere else. The motor only has 44 thousand miles on it as it is a fire truck. I was going to stick a gauge on it at the turbo to verify my fi dings before I do anything else. Can anyone give me a idea of what else could cause it. I'm guessing it has some type of relief valve and I was going to change my oil soon too.

So I figured out what was going on. The truck had sat in different places over the past 10 years and had several people working on it. We were able to isolate it to number 1 cylinder and bought a rebuilt injector thinking it may of been bad. Turns out that someone had it out already and had left the copper washer in it. I pulled the old one out and a washer was on it, however I did not know another was down in so I installed the new injector and sure enough...tap,tap,tap.. I took it apart and looked down with a flash light and was surprised to see it. It was removed, carbon cleaned up and new injector installed and bingo... noise went away. Yes the valves are adjusted to spec. I never thought of the piston skirt but the noise comes and goes. We changed the no. 1 injector but it still makes the sound. I'm going to investigate further. Thanks for the input

Does anyone have an exploded view of a Mack ENDTF 673 Engine or pictures of the front cam and crank gears. Trying to isolate an issue I am having with my 65. I am having a tapping noise that comes and goes and using a stethoscope it sounds like in front of number 1 Cylinder. It is more profound at idle. At times after it heats up, it goes away but re appears. Thanks

I have a 65 Mack C85 fire truck with a ENDFT673 diesel in it. Recently I changed the water pump, added a new thermostat and had the radiator re-cored. While it was apart I noticed the water pump had a vent on it, which was leaking. I was unable to find a replacement for it. So I left it off. How important is it to have? My truck doesn't want to build heat. The gauge shows 120 max and even checked with a heat gun, it still only shows 120 at the water manifold. I'm guessing I'm air locked? I don't know. Any help appreciated.

Ok thanks. Any idea where I could get a gasket set for the manifolds. It appears I'll need to take 1 end or the other off. Thanks

Anyone have a part number or any info on this?. The housing is leaking between the pipes and I am certain it has O rings however the pipe itself looks bad and it requires removal off the entire cooling system intake part or whatever it is called. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I have a 1965 Mack C85FD with a 673 Turbo diesel and was wondering if anyone has a part number or somewhere I can find a replacement fuel supply pump at the tank. I think mine is bad

I posted the other day about an oil leak on my truck and I have definitely found it. I have a lot of experience working on cars but at times am lost with this truck. Anyhow my truck is a 65 Mack fire engine equipped with a ENDTF673 Diesel. The injection pump is an American Bosch APE 6BB 90Q pump and it appears like on the very back oil is coming out of it. I am having a really hard time finding info on how to remove it and repair it. I'm not exactley sure what part of the governor is leaking but the oil is coming out of it and running down my frame even when the truck is off and hasn't been running for days. So I think I finally found the source. It appears like the rear of the injection pump is leaking oil. It looks like there is a panel on the side with bolts thru it and it is leaking there
