  1. For anyone that's interested....we do make 'em at Macungie as a GU's ........have to go through the N.V.O.C. though and talk to Vic. He can get ya set up in pretty much what ya want. I've worked on 'em rolling down the line though....they are a little bit higher too. To make room for the front axle.......
  2. Hey Terry, I heard quite a few orders were dropped because of the price. I don't know how many, but especially in this market, not many people can afford an impulse buy like that. I'll try to keep ya'll up to date on different changes as I see them come along.
  3. The phases are just different engineering releases. Just different changes that are being put through. Phase two is as far as they are in building the trucks in the plant. Has the granite style bumper, but the addition of the LED work lights, etc. The sleeper isn't released yet as a factory option, but it should be some time after the sleeper line goes into Macungie, when and if that happens. Just have to wait I guess.....
  4. Titan's won't have an available sleeper quite yet, I'm still waiting on the Steel Hood that is rumored to be relased sometime after the phase 4 build! It'll be something along the lines of an RD 8 from what I hear. And the $150,000 price tag sounds about right too.
  5. If you are going to get a new truck soon, you probably want to buy one with the 2007 emission regulations, rather than the 2010 emissions, because when the 2010 are made you are going to need to get "add blue" (urea) in addition to your diesel. The ratio of usage isn't anything close to what you use in diesel, but you will have to start getting the urea stuff with the new 2010 trucks, and that sounds like it will pretty much be industry wide. But I have read positive reviews about the SCR system though, so it shouldn't be too bad. I think that a few of the CV gliders at the plant in Macungie are set up for the vmac II setup, and have mechanical knobs and other older type configureations.
  6. I don't like that version of CTI. I installed some that didn't have the boom inbetween the tandems. They had the air going through the rear. It seemed to be a lot more reliable and less prone to damage. The exposed airline were a lot less exposed, just a little pigtail from the axle to the tire.
  7. I know that there are some Glider kits at the plant in Macungie, it isn't set up for the MP engines, I know we don't have any of the "new" granite gliders at the plant, though. You may be able to get one, but I'm not sure what kind of compliance issues you'd have trying to put an old engine in it.
  8. nope WHQ is still there.......not sure exactly when it's leaving though......lots of rumors and speculation there
  9. Jerry We were using the Volvo derivative engines before the U designation. The CTP, CXN, and CHN all used the Volvo based engine. We had a few delivered to Macungie that had the Volvo color scheme from when they were shipped here from Europe. The U is for Ultra Low Sulfur, which is the EPA 2007 emmisions engine. The Volvo powertrain Assembly plant is the Mack Hagerstown assembly plant. Volvo took it over and rocked thier world. Now they are putting in $50 million to machine the blocks there.
  10. 3P is a Hell of a guy, I'm going to miss guys with talent like that! I know ambient air brackets aren't all that important 3P. But you are a stand up guy! I hope that us people in Macungie are able to hang on. I'm trying to fight the fight for our customers, and for anyone that has to work on our trucks. 3P you know I'm not afraid to say something to the guys from Greensboro. I just hate the thought of losing guys who know what Mack Trucks are about. Now that our cab is actually a Volvo cab. Our chassis is a Volvo chassis. The only thing that hasn't changed as dramatically are our cab overs. We still have that chassis and what's left of the cab. Just wonder how much more we'll be gutted. But for everyone else out there Macungie will build the Macks like we have been building them there for the past 34 odd years. Since the F models were run in the plant. I will do my best kicking and screaming to get customer's wishes into the trucks, but it's looking to be one huge uphill battle! Good luck 3P most of you guys in Allentown deserve Kudos for everything that you have done for US!!!!!! Thank you!
  11. The U is actually for Ultra Low Sulfer. I'm waiting to see what the 2010 version will be with the SCR and Urea Tank GUSCR fulla Pee MRUSCR gotta Pee LEUSCR Pee on U Who knows how many more iterations there will be. The CT was with the old grey mack engine. The CTP was with the red pre emmisons engine. GU was code named the "fusion" to regard the similarites between the Mack and Volvo products. CT was the first Volvo frame used on a Mack, to my knowledge.
  12. Actually in the plant the RD was the last of the two models run. First the RB dropped off the the DM stopped, then the RD and the CL was the final one run from the older model conventionals, if memory serves me correctly on what was run down the line
  13. You can get a Granite with a tractor set up too. Get bare bones etc. I know you can get an MP7 with a GU. A GU7 is an axle forward version, where a GU8 is an axle back version. Both can get the MP7
  14. I'll look at the one that I'm building tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'll see the cab tomorrow or Friday though. I'll let you know. I'm pretty sure that the rear of the canisters are where you open to pull out the filter.......I wish I had a camera, I'd take pics of the cab before it was mated to the chassis.
  15. Tools for tightening fuel lines????????? What do you mean? Maybe we should use something like that in the plant! NOT!
  16. The TD designation is in fact correct, it actually stands for something too, believe it or not it stands for....... Top Dog
  17. Starting this week both GU 7 & GU 8s have started rolling off the assembly lines, with some regularity. They may be coming to a dealer near you. The rear air pipeing is significantly different from the CTP Tri-Drive. Hopefully they'll be able to "pull their weight". Anyhow take care guys!
  18. I believe you can get a space saver DPF which is located under the passenger side of the cab. It has a heat shield etc. I know it's available on GU 7 Axle Forward, GU 8 Axle Back, and TD 713 Titan. As far as CXU, CHU I'm not positve of their offerings. That would alleviate any potential problems with a MP engine with the 2007 emmisions. You do want to order it before the next prebuy though, which will be for the new 2010 emmisions, which we're going to see another outrigger, etc for the SCR. But whatever you do decide, I find it easier to push a clutch in with the larger square pedal, that the one that has the rubber on it. You can get whatever option you want put on by the options center. If you are leary about it, get a hold of the New Vehicle Options center up at the Mack plant, in Macungie Pennsylvania, ask for Vic Sherbick (sp?) They do a good job at adding their options, if you want factory installed. Possibilities are almost limitless!
  19. As of the new Vovlo style frames is when the drillings changed with the O-Line designation. Prior to the Vovlo style chassis they used A-Line geometry and measurements were in inches. Vovlo style chassis are in metric.
  20. I hear there is a very strong possibility that a metal hood will be released for the Titan. I also have first hand knowledge that I can just about sit on the rear of the engine with the cab on an the hood closed and still have room under the dog house.
