    Thanks maddog. The thing hasn't been delivered to my shop yet and itching to get familiar with it. Right now the way it is I wouldn't drive it across the street, but I will around the lot to get familiar with the workings.

    I actually called a Heil tank company in Texas and spoke with a very nice gentleman who used to work for the company making and installing them in the early sixties. From his information about it, it is original to the truck. It still has the wooden blocks on the frame sections under the tank. And the wood is still solid.

    Which stick is the main transmission, left or right? Again, I'm new to these old beasts.

    I plan on keeping the tanker on and giving it a new set of "work clothes ". It's pretty rough as it is. I'm going to dress it in a vintage Gulf oil scheme.

    Thanks for the information. When this thing is done the only weight it will carry is it's own. I think it will have an easier life than before.

    I'm new to Mack trucks and was wondering about the shift pattern on a b 42. It's a six cylinder gas engine. It has two sticks. The shift tag above the windshield shows five speeds. Do you run through all five gears then shift the second lever and run through all five again? I'm a newbie so please forgive my ignorance.

    Thanks. I'm looking forward to getting started on it. I'm still contemplating taking the tank off the frame. It will bea challenge to wrestle it off.

    Hi everyone. I'm new to this site. I just recently acquired a b 42 tanker truck. It's destined for a frame up restoration. Looking forward to posting pictures and swapping stories.
