    A huge loss for the truck restoration community. Few had the eye for detail and ability that Dave had to bring a truck to an incredible level of detail and beauty. And he had the wherewithal to do it like few could ever do. And the fact that he then took the time and spent the bucks to take the trucks out for all of us to enjoy!

    I have several B7O's series with that frame. In fact it seems to me out west here I have seen very few without it? perhaps logging specified the heavier frame. What I have noticed is that the 5 hand hole wheels sure look different? or is it just the distortion of a picture but the holes look awful small.

    I cannot remember ever seeing a Superliner with an external air cleaner only on the right like Gary Mahans'?? There was a green Superdog at Yakima that was owned by the former Mack dealer in British Columbia, Canada and it was a beauty! I have not seen any pictures of it from the threads that covered Yakima.

    Mark both the trailer and the bunk............or shed as our Aussie buddies call it........ are Aeroliners. Joe is still doing well in Honolulu and is 98! He keeps in touch on the progress of the truck.

    This is stuff we would never get to see or know about if it wasn't for this site and dedicated Mack enthusiasts! Going to have dinner with a friend in San Francisco tonight. He was a friend of Zenon Hansen and when Nixon was elected President the first time he flew Bill down to the inaugaration with him in the bulldog airlines. He and his wife knew Zenon and his wife from the country club in Allentown. A lot of great stories to hear!! Last year his wife gave me a handful of bulldog items that Zenon had given them during that time period.

    Perhaps Don at the museum can shed some light on where this truck went? I have seen pics of the N model in Europe.

    That is nice truck and fair price too! I note that it has the Superliner II frame and it is an 85. Is it a magnum? or just an early release of the II?

    You need to consider putting together a talk at one of the ATHS National conventions about the history of Mack outside the US. Good stuff!

    I had Heartthrob do the exhaust for me and they did an excellent job. I will get some pics of the piping and post. I have gone with twin 4 inch stacks on it. Ready to fire it up tomorrow.

    I ended up with several crates of LT parts too. and the truck in the picture comes with the fenders and a decent hood. They gave it a push and it started right up to drive on to the trailer. The days of guys like Frank saving the good parts from classics is about over. Frank's son has moved on to the 90's and beyond in trucks and parts. Even at that there are less and less guys out there working on their own stuff so it is turning into more a scrap yard.

    Don at the Mack museum told me that in the early years of UPS getting into semi trucks that they hired away a top Mack engineer and that was the strong connection between Mack and UPS. The former Mack engineer had a seperate design shop for UPS and Mack would agree to make the changes for them on the line. Most were connected to safety concerns. Also Dennis Meehan has stories about building up the first H models that UPS bought from Mack.

    While we are on the Superliner subject does anyone know if the hoods are interchangeable between the Superliner I and II? I know they mount differenty and the way that the hinge is embedded into the fiberglass is different. Superdog told me that there is corrosion problems with the Superliner II hinge and sure enough the 88 I bought has corroded hinges at the fiberglass.

    Mike I have a louvered hood that Frank saved from a 48. A 48 and 49 were on what I would guess as an LF frame. Anyways I have always wanted the louvered hood on my LTL so if I can ever get the energy to fix it up I will have it on my LTL> I knew Roy and he was a helluva good man.

    I don't have much info on it yet. I bought it from Frank Miller in Portland, OR. Frank and I have been friends for years. Frank has owned and operated a truck salvage yard for as long as I can remember. He always has had a secret love for Mack and especially the LT's. He saved most every one that came in as well as collected parts from them. He is now retiring to spend his years helping an Indian mission. His son has taken over and wants all of the old stuff gone. So I made a deal with Frank and bought all of his LT parts along with this truck. Frank kept his restored LT logger. I ended up with pallets of treasures.

    I ended up buying another damn old Mack truck. 51 LTL with a two six bits Cummins. If I keep this up I am going to be outa the house and the best I will be doing is ending up with ol Big Bertha......the truck driving queen!!

    I bought an UPS F Model in the late 90's. It had been given a cheap white paint job. Maxidyne, 5 spd, with a hydraulic clutch. There were several unique UPS only items such as the driver steps and hand grabs.

    question............ on the western R models shown some have the dip in the bumper for the radiator and then a few had the rectangle holes in the bumper instead. which came first? and did the lower part of the grill not tilt with the hood on the ones with the bumper cut out?
