  1. The canister pictured is on a ntc 290 cummins truck. It has a site glass and hoses that t off into the heater hoses, then proceeding to a canister that I was told was a coolant heater. There is a hose currently disconnected. Do I actually need this canister and the coolant heater or can I eliminate them. Truck is only used for show.
  2. Can anyone tell me if the aftermarket chromed plastic grill shells are garbage? I see them for sale and have been cautious because of cracking and flaking issues.
  3. It worked fine for 10 miles then went back to building right to 150.
  4. There was a valve on the air dryer, almost like a turkey timer that would pop up and release some air but nothing from the went tank.
  5. When this was happening it was above 40f.
  6. It builds right to 150 psi and the relief valve opens but the compressor continues to build pressure. The pressure doesn't drop it stays high.
  7. I will check those lines. I suspect they are plugged or failing. Thank you very much.
  8. While driving a r model home the air pressure gauge started to climb right to 150 psi. For some time the truck was spitting at 120. Then it stopped and it would climb right to 150 psi. I changed the governor and it was fine for 10 miles or so. It now climbs right to 150psi. I was bob tailing and ran with the trailer valve open. There's a finned canister behind the cab. It has air in and air out along with some wires all cobbled together. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I found a fiberglass sunvisor on an r model in a junk yard. It's perfect and it's on a steel dash truck. Will the visor fit the later fat cabs with a plastic dash?

  11. 12 hours punch in to punch out for the day or log on log off needs a log. My dad has been worried about this for some time. He lucked out for now his truck is a 99. Hopefully he will be retired before things change any ore for the worse.

  13. I'm looking to buy an r700. I've looked at quite a few trucks. Most have pretty bad cabs. Hence the roof skin wanted post. Any help would be well appreciated. Truck will not be exported. I don't have a preference on engine and trans specs. Just looking for a clean truck to restore.
  14. I called Watts. They do have them available as well as the rear panels. The panels are kinda pricey, but there's a price for everything.

  16. Might be a stupid question but did Mack use any left handed threads on the wheel studs or caps in this case? I know some car manufacturers did back in the day.
  17. I drive by that Goods Mack a few times a week and always wondered how it would handle.
  18. I was wondering if anyone on here has altered the rear springs to improve the ride of the truck. It's a single axle. I have considered cutting an inch or 2 off the ends of each spring and Possibly removing the 3rd and 5th leaf. I still run bias ply tires. An air ride swap is also doable, however I would like to keep the rear in the truck. Any thoughts?

  20. No the one I have is different. It puts the stack out more towards cab corner so the stack will clear sleeper bump out. Thank you though
  21. I'm looking for a pass side exhaust bracket for a 74 f model mack. I'm also looking for an air ride mack cutoff.
  22. Yes sir that is the b and it is a good looking truck. The magnum does need frame work in the rear. It never crossed my mind that it would be a double frame truck. I still am amazed.

  24. I didn't know where to post this and I feel like I need to share it. I drive a city route for FedEx freight. I mainly run back roads, country roads and anything off the beaten path. Throughout the years I have stumbled accross some great finds. Cars trucks antiques you know all the good stuff. Well today I stumbled accross the best find yet. I wish I had a camera. I won't say where it is located, but my second delivery was to a repair garage off the beaten path. Pulling in front of the two open bay doors inside I see a b61 twin screw dual stack tractor. Next to it is a super liner in primer under going a resto. The freight comes off trailer and he offers me a tour. I gladly take it. Mack parts all over garage trucks in the garage. Thought the rear man door is a peterbilt 359 with a kw style sleeper, and a 359 with a flat top sleeper. He says to me lets go out the side door and if your a mack guy you will know what this is. Through the door I see a yellow single axle r model. We walk through the door and turn to our right. The truck has been there a while, it's weathered and in need of a resto, but its all there. Looking at the back of the truck he asked me what is it. I was so surprised that right in front of me was a mack magnum. I was never expecting to see a single truck but this was awesome. I walked around it a few times just grinning. He says is open go on sit in it. The day could not have got any better. I'm still smiling thinking about that view through its windshield. I need to find a truck with a hood.
