  1. Like someone else mentioned, I don't really see the need to send marshals out for $1500, but the guy definitely needs to pay his loan back. Can't they just take it from his wages? I feel like that would be a cheaper way to do it, without causing the raucous that sending armed marshals causes. As far as people not paying their loans back, I think the problem is that so many don't have the means to pay them back. I can't say that I feel that bad for the people that got huge loans to take liberal arts degrees, but at the same time, we are told from from day one that college is the only way to succeed in life. It's still their fault for choosing a major that won't make them any money, but I feel that this situation would be different if college wouldn't be pushed as hard as it has been for the last decade or two. There are many better choices for a career path rather than college. I myself, along with my Fiance, will have a combined debt of about $50,000 once I graduate in the spring. The difference between us and many other kids, is that we picked majors that will allow us to make enough money to pay the loans back in a few years. I haven't even graduated yet, and got an offer for a job that I will make probably more than someone my age should be making.
  2. To be fair, most of the awd system is installed on the line at Macungie. They only have to install the front driveshaft after it come off the line. That is the way they did the AWD Granites while I was there in 2014. Macks are still highly customizable. I saw such a wide range of options and trucks just in the few months that I was at the plant.
  3. I agree with you. With the added up charge of the diesel option, the increased price of diesel fuel, and the increased maintenance costs of a diesel engine, I don't think these new diesel engines are as good a choice as people make them out to be.
  4. Many companies' just in time manufacturing styles aren't helping either. I know with my internship with Eaton this past summer, If a truck arrived a few hours early, they would make the driver wait until it was the designated drop off time to unload the truck. If the truck was late, the company was penalized.
  5. Wow that's quite the difference. I'm surprised there is that much difference between zip codes.
  6. You can go on the Ford site and build a basic truck that comes out to a price of $28,920. Regular cab, 8ft bed, 4x4, vinyl floor and seat, roll up windows, basic am/fm radio and steel wheels. These basic trucks can still be had, you just don't see them because everybody buys the fancy ones and since Ford and the dealers make more on the fancy ones, that is what they fill the lots up with.
  7. You can still buy a plain jane truck. You just have to most likely order it since the majority of people dont want that kind of truck.
  8. I was wondering when this thing would finally come out. They did a test run on the assembly line when I was there last summer and they said production was supposed to start around February. Something must have gotten delayed.
  9. I also get the URL too short thing at school, but it blocks the adult friend finder.
  10. If I come from google, I always either get the URL too short thing or redirected to adult friend finder. If I go back and click again it brings me here fine though.
  11. Its a photochop http://www.motorstown.com/imgs/47004-daf-xf105-460-8.html
  12. I'm not saying that they are covered in rust from the factory.
  13. The only thing automated in the plant currently is the cart that takes the dollies that the chassis's ride on from the end of the line to the beginning of the line.
  14. I have seen small patches of rusty water coming from seams of trucks sitting in the lot right off the line at the plant. Its the nature of how they paint the frames.
  15. Only two of those horns are functional anyway if the truck was ordered with four horns.
  16. The majority of the highway trucks that mack builds get the M-drive. If they were really that bad, wouldn't there be all kinds of horror stories?
  17. The sky lights and white paint that they have added really brighten the line up compared to what it is there.
  18. The only thing that was keeping it out of the Granite was an agreement with Allison.
  19. Thats the first thing i thougt of. Looks like a cheap knock off of the 2009-2014 f150.
  20. I interned over the summer at the factory. They were building a few orders of UPS trucks when i left at the end of August, i don't know if they are building any right now though.
  21. This kind of surprises me because they were really touting all of the envirenmental certifications and energy saving equipment when i worked there this past summer..
