  1. i actually disconnected the wires from the buss bar before I cut it, but sillier things have happened. New problem thismorning though, when I turn on the head lights without the turn signal switch plugged in, all works well. Turn the key on, and the outside two cab clearance lights go out. Arrrgh!
  2. Working on a 2005 cv713 that came in the shop for no running lights. This is where the fun begins! After a couple of hours of the normal troubleshooting, I found that the 7-way for the trailer was interfering and causing a short. This truck is no longer required to pull a trailer, so I removed that 7-way wire all the way back. All running lights now work... Yay! Well, enter the demon. Now the trun signals don't work (they did before). The flasher is in good shape, but put a new one in just to be sure. No change. I inspected the turn signal switch and found melted wires in it. Those wires are for the clearance flash on the end of the stick. New switch and everything works untill I plug that switch in... then it blows the fuse for the running lights! I'm lost and my forehead hurts from trying to put a window in my shop wall!! Thanks in advance for any help. Jason
  3. I just got finished chasing this same problem. I first thought that it was a tensioner, because at idle, the squeal was small and got louder as RPM got higher. Changed both and only one was close to bad... yeah, it had a little wear but I put the old one in my parts box for road calls (just to get a truck back to the shop and save a tow). Anyway, like trukster said, after a good bit of close listening and pinpointing I found soot under the #1 exhaust port. The bottom of the gasket had blown out. Time to pull the turbo off and install new manifold gaskets. You will also need to put a new trubo gasket on when you reinstall it, DON'T try to re-use ANY gaskets. The torque for the NEW manifold bolts is done in a specific sequence, and done in two steps. If you need the specs, I will post them here tomorrow.
