  1. This is 39 Baby Macks post , copied......... On a further note, All the older dogs are supposed to be duplicates of the soap carving made by Alfred Fellows Masury in 1932. If you look closely at these dogs you will notice that they are not symmetrical. This leads one to believe that the soap carving story is true which I believe it is. If you look straight into his face you will notice that his R.H. eye is higher than his left, turn him around, look at his back hips his right one is cut down lower than his left. Look at him from both sides, notice the flat spots in the middle of the legs on both sides, wide on the right, narrow on the left. His mid section narrow in front wide in the back on the left, just the opposite on the right. Needless to say he's crooked as a copy of the carving would be. As Don stated above they changed the ears and tail in 1979. I like the way he put it, to make it more friendly. The rest of the dog stayed the same, crooked as it should be. Sometime later I was surprised and disgusted to find out that they changed it altogether and that he was no longer crooked but was indeed symmetrical. I don't know exactly when they did this but I first noticed it in the early 90's. Go look at a new one, he is indeed symmetrical. I have no idea why in the world they would do this, but the thought of some young buck noticing it was crooked and thought that it was terrible that their corporate symbol was like that comes to mind! I think before changing it they should've found out why he was the way he was and left well enough alone. It's funny, but at about the same time I found this out the Mack Co. was running an ad in the truck magazines about the "Bulldog" Wish I had one to show, but I don't, maybe someone else on here can find one. The ad had a Bulldog hood ornament superimposed over the Declaration of Independence and the tag line went something like this Yeah it's just a hood ornament like the Declaration of Independence is just a piece of paper! After seeing that I thought to myself well you guys have made it just a hood ornament! They had taken all the history out of the "Bulldog" I'm sure Mr. Masury would not be pleased! 2. I think a lot of regulars on here know already that the Mack Bulldog was made from a carving. 39 Baby Mack ( unfortunately he doesn't stop by any more) Made a really good post in a thread explaining this. I will post a link to another thread , and in that thread is a link to the original post . Sorry, I hope that isn't confusing , lol The bulldogs used to be different from one side to the other . and Mack mirrors used to match the left and right side of the bulldog . Not sure if this helps anything . But someone may find it interesting . https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/43937-mack-mirrors…something-interesting/?tab=comments#comment-323522
  3. It sure was ready to be changed , lol . Thanks for the update .
  4. North of the border is $ 2.399 / Litre. There is close to 3.8 litres per US gallon . That translates to $ 9.11 gallon ...... and its supposed to go up more here.
  5. Looks amazing . I really like your choice of colours
  6. PAI used to list a stainless one in their catalog , EEM-1916 ......... I doubt its available though
  7. It was probably a good decision. Now you can count the days to your retirement.
  8. I liked it to Bob , I was on a job and it came in and backed up to the house like it was a dry summer day , lol
  9. I thought I had done it easily ?? But apparently I didn't . Because I just went through to try to delete some photos and the only way I could was to go to my attachments , then to the actual thread , then edit my post by deleting the photo. I would have thought ? there was an easier way. Hopefully Bob can help some more . I did find this cool pic I posted A long time ago , lol . Its actually cool going through old pics 😄
  10. looks amazing so far. Thanks so much for sharing your progress .
  11. Believe me...... I couldn't outdo anyone , lol
  12. My 2 cents is 67Rmodel hit the nail on the head. You actually have a good opportunity to finish off your international or some other truck and go to truck shows, tractor pulls, or any spot with Diesel engines and promote yourself. Hand out your post cards and have a nice chat . That way you can judge the customer . lol . We all know the customer we wish we had stayed away from . 😀
  13. Thanks Vlad for the pics and information. I find these little details interesting
  14. I won't ever have to worry . That kind of green and me will never happen , lol . I don't even play the lottery .
  15. lol, I didn't know about it . If I could afford to spend 3.7 million , I would have the covoy truck, Evel Knievel cabover and all the B model dump trucks from the Diehard movie . And still have a couple bucks left ??? maybe 😀
  16. Thanks for the pic Vlad, I found that interesting as well. Do you think the tow pin incorporated in the spring bracket could be an American built thing ? The tow pin set up in my stuff is all added between the frame and bumper . Even the 1977 R700 . They are all Oakville builds though. The model builders will find this little detail interesting .
  17. I think that was perfect how you did it . And like Vlad said , you don't need the top filler plate the way you did it . Thanks for keeping us up to date on your project. I like following this.
  18. I have an 88 R688 an a 86 RD688. they both have a 5 inch spacer behind the bumper used for a tow hook . For sure they are both original equipment . They both have air .
  19. There was a thread on here a loooong time ago about a fella that had clunking noises coming through the drive train, It turned out he had put new tires on one axle only and the mis matched tires were causing a problem with the power divider . I don't think this is the case , just throwing it out there .
  20. I was trying to figure out what was on the lower corner of the dash. After zooming in , it looks like a way to check the oil . Ive never seen that before. Very nice Truck. Just right.
  21. Yes they still have them. I don't think they will stop them or all those trucks will end up back in Ottawa again , lol
