  1. Me been me I like different things and for almost as long as I can remember I have wanted 63 - 65 Chev Impala or Belair

Gotta be RHD from and Australian delivered, 4 door with pillars and Canadian built

So been searching pretty seriously for some time and came across one with a rust free body that did meet all my criteria

Went and looked a was what I wanted

Original, RHD, bench seats, 4 door pillars, complete and fairly rust free

I agreed on the asking price and would transfer the money that night

I drove 150 km or around 100 miles to look at this but was happy

So a 300 km round trip

The bloke was hard to organise to come and look at the car

He told me to meet him at the race track (horses) this is  pretty common in  country areas to meet at the pub or some were simple then follow the farmer to his farm

I was stunned to see the car on a tilt tray, I  must also say this town is probably only 150 people at the most and the next closest town is at least 60 km away

I had just driven off not even 100 yards and I think to myself "hang on Pauly boy, you dunno who this joker or anything about him, you dunno were he lives, you dont know if is who says he is

He did ask to be paid in cash for his tax reasons to which I replied "that aint happening as I cant get that much cash over 2 days from the whole in the wall  at the bank"

So asked him for his bank details and I would just transfer the cash

When I asked for the account name he never answered but asked for a pen and paper and he would right it

I also asked to see his drivers license but he claims he doesn't have it with him

This is also quite common in rural areas as I rarely  carry mine

He tells me he will take a photo and send it thru on the phone

So I head home and when I arrive last night he had sent the photo and I have a look at the photo his name is different and he has blanked out his address

And when I say his name is different it is very very different

So I get hold of him and ask what the hell's going on and who hell is he

He carries on a bit and wont give me his address or any other details

So in the end I told him Im gunna have to give it a miss as the amount of money Im expecting to hand over and his cagey nature it all sounds to sus to me

I can see been a big bucket load of coin out of pocket and a empty place were my Chev is meant to be lol

That girls and boys is "when to walk away " lol

Some things we are best not to have some times

Another will be along and these are quite rare in Australia so I will hang in there

I still can’t fathom why we are letting anyone travel from China to here right now helping to spread this crap faster than it already is.

Well if your not a Australian citizen you can't come to Australia from China at the moment

One of the old saying my grandpa picked up in the navy was “red in the morning sailors warning, red at night sailors delight”.

    Similar saying for sheep farmers

Big crappy day with those sunrises

Freaky how those dust storms can produce lightning. Watched a show about the dust bowl of 1935. Sand moving over a steel surfaces, like a plow or tractor, could generate enough static electricity to give you taser shocks.

    It surly can

Some of our electrical cables buried with ends sticking out of the ground will build up many thousands of volts in dust storms

Feels like you have put your finger on a spark plug as it rips your arm out of its socket  always ground the cables before touching them,   pain is a good educator lol

Vlad I do t worry about the dust to much as I should, to many people running around with their faces covered up in Australia with out me joining them

  5. Yes we are building solar farms in this rubbish every day of late

Pretty hard on the lungs, but thats the price we pay for green power lol20191230-111630.jpg

But this weather makes for some cracking sunrises

You get probably 10 - 15 minutes from the time you see the dust storm till your in it

I have farmed thru this type of weather almost everyday for six months in 2001

Feels a bit surreal at times but you do get used to it

  6. A lot off people working in crappy conditions in Australia weld a steel sleeper upside across the landing leg feet to stop trailers sinking

Not as common now days as theres a lot more hard stand areas to park trailers on

  7. 5 inch is what Im doing

As always we all have a opinion based on what we feel is right

A few things you must know is things like how reactive the soil is, the climate, how wet the area is and how dry it gets

Does it freeze, apparently this causes the ground to shift quite a lot

I know of one slab only 3 inches thick for semi trailers gross 42  tons and its still there 40 years later

So there's is lots to consider and what works for one part of the country wont work in another

Do your research and dont listen to old wives tails

I have seen a lot of sheds were tracked type earthmoving gear is repaired that have train line cemented in level with the floor so it the tracks arent walking on the cement as such

I am not following what you are recommending

He is telling you to hit it closer to the center

Get someone else to hold a good size sledge hammer on the opposite side

Also if you can put decent pressure on it say with a jack or gear puller will help as well

And use a heavier hammer than 4 pounds as it wont bruise it as much

  9. Well I'm not 100% sure of what NewZealand did

I do know they had fully imported made in the good old US of A right RHD Macks

They also had fully imported Australian Macks

They also made their own Macks

Some like Australia were of their own design

There is a book getting done for release 2022 to commemorate 50 years of NewZealand made Macks

I put the link up some time ago to order a copy, if you did (like I did) well done, if you didn't, tought titties you've missed out
