  1. Sorry 'bout that; I just couldn't help myself. I feel bad too....

Work on your pretrip and impress the officer. Smoothness counts too, but you will be smoother after experience.PRETRIP PRETRIP

  2. I am looking for an apartment in the area. I might go there to do medical clinic at a warehouse. It would need to be low cost so I can send money home to the wife so we can keep up on the mortgage. Not looking forward to it but options are getting slim. :(

It is a small town just south of Cincinnati. You really wouldnt think your in KY. Northern Ky is a conglomeration of small towns. You cant tell when you leave one and get into the next. It is very close to the Cincy intl airport( The cincy airport is in Ky in case you didnt know. A larger city which borders Hebron is Florence Ky Best of luck Bobby Covert

  3. The sales agent is not the claims department; There is an unbelieveable difference between the two.

I do not have State Farm insurance, never have, never will. Running an autobody shop for many years teaches one a thing or two about the workings of insurance companys.

Let's just say this one does not have its' policy holders best interest at heart.

  4. I have plenty of MH parts if you need anything. 919-932-3344

I drove many MH cabovers at UPS. The drivers pretty much loved them. You had a built in sleeper with that big doghouse. Tons more room than the F-models (referred to as hardbodies) The oldest ones were equipped with a hydraulic clutch. , no power steering, no cruise. The last of them were equipped with side fairings, cruise and power steering. and a dry type clutch. The power steering felt so loose after not having it that it was a little scary. We still have one in Lexington Ky. It is just used on ocassion to move trailers into the shop. Iwatched them go out on trailers a few years ago. It was the first time I ever saw them sell any of the equipment and not strip it and crush it.

  5. Jim,

It sure is GREAT! to see the 55 Chevy. I remember them from the good ole day's and how it feels to to be coming up off the ground in each gear. Welcome and good luck on all of your projects.

I always knew Phantom 309 was a B-model. Now I have seen the sketches to prove it!

  6. I have to agree with Superdog, I can’t believe that we cannot duplicate the originals. Maybe I am too particular but in the antique tractor world this would never fly. Personally, this would have to be a last resort. I just like certian things to look original.

If you had to tell someone that they werent original how bad could it be? I saw the originals at the Mack Museum in Macungie Pa. If Iam not mistaken they were made of Walnut.

  7. What you have is an R-700 model, the 63 designates the driveline. The following numbers are the sequential serial number. I suggest you contact the Mack Museum with this info and request the build information for your truck. It may tiake a little time but what you receive will certainly be beneficial.

I suggest you forward a donation to the museum.

    Doug

The mack museum can tell you anything you want to know about your truck when it was built. Including who it was built for. They will most likely send you a build or line sheet if you ask them Good Luck. An R-700 was one of the largest R-models built

  8. A guy calls the other day offering to sell me a steel nose R686 for salvage price. The engine is blown, (EM6-300), air shift six speed that was rebuilt less than six months ago. The sheet metal is worth working with. I was surprised the cab was as useable as it was. It did look like I could split the hood, and fenders and add a few inches to them without much effort to install onto my R795. The truck has always been a roll off and was replaced with a new Freightliner using the existing hoist apparatus.

I think a long, steel hood truck would be unique. I really don't need another truck, but never had one like this, so it is in the thought process.

I have seen one of those steel front R-models. It looked just like the DM-600 steel front only longer and it wasnt offset. It pulled a coal bucket.

  9. Its a DM600 with a fiberglass front hood. As you you look at it from the front the cab should be offset to the right a couple of feet. It was a selling point of improved visibility for the driver. (similar to driving a cabover) They also made this model with a steel front. It had squared off fenders and a butterfly hood. It was considered for more severe service,The cab will still be offset on this model too. It is a nice looking unit.

  10. Iam Bobby, and I live in Lexington Ky.Iam a driver for UPs here and have driven my share of Macks. My Dad had a B-61 when I was very small and was unfortunatly killed in an accident . He was leased to Direct Transport of Ky and hauled gasoline. The truck was fixed after the wreck and sold to my uncle who ran it a couple of years. It was then sold to hillcrest trucking in Frankfort Ky. (no longer in business) After that I dont know where to look. The serial no was B61t18131. If any of you guys out there that know of any B models that are parts trucks or junk check that serial no for me PLEASE .I last saw it when I was 4 in my uncles garage. Would love to have it or a piece of it. I have driven MH CH and CX Macks. I have a good collection of photos that I have taken over the years, books and literature. I also have a good sized collection of diecast trucks :SMOKIE-RT:

  11. Congratulations to you, Wish I could say that I have one too, but not at this time. If you contact the Mack museum with that serial no they can probably tell you the year and who ordered the truck, or who it was built for. The paperwork that goes with it will be a lot of numbers preceded by a part or assembly name. Also look for the book of LJ LF and Lt model Macks published by ICONOGRAFIX . It will be about 25.00 us and it is full of pictures from the archives of Mack. See You Bumblebee090458@gmail.com
