  1. The tender I posted the pictures of lives in Southern California was that show at California speedway in Fontana? If it was it was the ATHS convention and it will be in Reno in June of 2022
  2. I just ran across a 1972 RS700L that appears to be a glider and I sent a request to the Mack museum, it will be interesting to see what they come up with
  3. From what I have been able to figure out the mechanical engines work well with a mechanical transmission it was not unheard of for highway departments to spec the maxadine with a Allison such as MT654 the newer transmission need to talk to the computer on the engine the auto shift eatons also need throttle control
  4. The truth is that by putting the engine under the floor, the crowns are mid engine, you can carry more students in a bus with the same length. So in order to increase capacity some school districts opted for longer busses the typical two axle school bus has a GVW that is maxed out fir its size. The capacity is based on a bus loaded with adults when you add more rows of seats the bus will exceed the weight for two axles crown could have used a tag axle but the ones I have seen appear to have both axles powered also the three axle buses typically have storage compartments under the floor that are often not on the two axle busses
  5. I have a T226 auxiliary transmission, transfer case. The cab data plate lists it as a MR-226 I think for Meritor Rockwell. Currently the front axle in and out is air shift. The high, neutral, low range is shifted by a shift lever in the cab and a lot of noise is transferred into the cab. The joints on the rod are very sloppy and I have two rubber bungee cords to deal with the slip. There is still a rattle that is transmitted into the cab during deceleration. is there a way to convert the hi lo shift to air and eliminate the rattle?
  6. Here are a few pictures from yesterday’s fun a car without lug nuts the strangest manhole I have seen in a while
  7. The only rear overhang limit that I am aware of is for the location of the DOT bumper in relation to the back of the bed which I believe is 4 feet. Since this vehicle is not registered commercially only the regulations at the date of manufacturing apply and it does not have to meet current requirements,
  8. I am building a removable flatbed for my F800. there is 10 feet of frame behind the cab i am debating on a 10 foot, 11 foot or 12 foot flatbed I have two 12 foot flatbeds but they look a little long extending past the frame and look like they will interfere with the trailer hitch should I shorten one of the 12 foot beds to 10 or 11 feet?
  9. I have worn brown Reebok walk ultra dmx max shoes for decades and now I can only find them in white, white with blue stripes, and black but no brown. the brown color was great because the shoes would start out as nice shoes, then office shoes, then field shoes, then shop shoes and finally shoes for yard work. I would literally wear them until the seams split. The store managers tell me that it is not a sales issue since the brown ones sold better than the black or white but they have not gotten any shipments in a year
  10. The door dogs seem to be hit and miss my observation is the the steel dash and early larger cab had them and they seemed to disappear when the front cab mounts were changed
  11. Personally I hated Archie bunker so I just changed the channel. I did listen to Howard stern a lot. The world has changed a lot and I do not think this PC stuff is good for anything. the problem with these children is that there are no consequences for there actions anymore. If they fail in school they still move forward. remember the bullies? In my day a few punches would settle it. Both of my kids went to the same high school one was marching band and swim team and the jocks avoided the band because there was strength in numbers. My daughter did not have that and she hated it, and transferred after her brother graduated. when I was in high school I had a reputation that if I got picked on I would drop the leader on the ground and get out of there. Now the frustration of these loners is bottled up and a very few act out in a bad way and we all have to suffer.
  12. When did Mack start using the factory order form FS2?
  13. I just received the chassis build record from the Mack museum this morning the truck was originally sold in Los Angeles and was dulex 93-72218-h green cab and frame with white and black per a sketch and white rear wheels does anyone have a dulex paint chart from that era? any idea on who ran those colors in 1970?
  14. I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery 30 years ago I was involved in a serious accident at work and spent a month in the hospital. I had to learn to walk again and I can still feel where they drilled a hole in my skull. for months after being home I would do something one day and the next day I would spend the day on the couch. Covid caused my PTSD to be evident and no longer controlled and I am having issues related to my TBI my advice is doctors are still practicing medicine and are basing there advice on an average. According to my doctors I should not due some of the stuff that I do. I advise people to listen to there body, my orthopedist told me sore is OK, time to stop, but pain is a red flag and to call him.
  15. We took a little road trip today and here are some old trucks and there is a Mack among them
  16. I tried to upload a video of us pulling the truck out of the spot where it has been sitting since 2007 and starting down the 3/4 mile dirt road to the pavement but the file is too big so here is a short video of the Mack crossing the wash is there a way I can load a larger video? IMG_6913.mov
  17. Worked on cleaning out the cab today I removed the drivers seat and the rest of the carpet. I removed the blower motor from the heater but was unable to remove the front cover because the temperature control lever is stuck, do the knobs come off of the levers?
  18. Not everybody but there is quite a bit. The sad part is when it is left to rot into the ground
  19. Here is another video taken when we stopped for lunch IMG_6893.MOV
  20. It is not my trailer but that is a very common conversion. All that is required to remove the goose neck coupler is two bolts. Then a king pin coupler is slid up into the tube and the two bolts are reinstalled. They also use the small slip disc. i have been told that the gooseneck is better off road
  21. The B actually belongs to Lisa and is being driven by her husband Dennis I am partial to R models but that is a sweet B model
