  1. Now pull the third member and check it and clean out the pieces. Check the housing for magnets it is amazing what collects on them, even on a good axle
  2. Bleached hair and flat chested, almost as bad as a fake red head
  3. I really like real red heads but there avoidance of the sun does not fit my lifestyle. Not into this fake red head stuff I also do not get the tattoos
  4. I think it is funny that the two guys commenting about California's emissions restrictions are not from California. The truth is there are exemptions for low milage and special use trucks. There are also other exemptions. I did not have a chance to really check these trucks out to see if they were rust free. These trucks were from Nevada and were originally Nevada State Highway plow trucks. At some point in there life they were converted to tankers. If anyone is looking for parts pm me and I can give you the contact information. They are located in central California about 7 or 8 hours north of me.
  5. This week I was able to walk the yard and discovered what had happened to the trucks It looks like they were both scrapped.
  6. Back in April of 2014 I found a pair of running R models in a truck wrecking yard. The information that they provided me did not make sense so I contacted the mack museum and received the build sheet.
  7. Neat video There corporate headquarters is a few miles from me. I have a trailer in my yard that we have had a hard time identifying, the data plate was missing, and one of the mechanics I know thinks it could be a utility from the 50's. I took pictures of it to there office and they had no interest in even looking at the trailer. You would think that they would at least want to look at the pictures.
  8. We just got a contract to haul out of the state capital. We will probably need to use double 53' trailers to haul all the hot air
  9. I would build up the air. Shut the truck down. Chock it and do the COLA air brake test. If I remember correctly the governor actually controls two valves in the air compressor that unload it. These valves can stick.
  10. What belts are you using? I had a similar issue on my ford with the gates alligator belts. Changed the belt to a factory one and the squeal went away.
  11. You are correct 34 K on the tandems is 4250 per tire. If the suspension, rims, hubs and tires are rated correctly you can get 34K on the tandems. Per the first post the tires are 8.25 R15 The attached chart show the load rating can be as high as 5675 for duel s at 125 psi, max 55 mph http://www.goodyeartrucktires.com/pdf/resources/service-manual/Retread_S14_V.pdf You do need to check the tires to see what they are actually rated for.
  12. What is the current weight on each axle? You are allowed 12 k on steering axle 34 k on each pair of tandems Max is 80 k (without a permit)
  13. Build it as big as you can afford I built a 24 x 34.5 with a 16 wide 12 foot high door on one end and it is to small. I planning a 30 x 40 with a 15 foot lean to on one side.
  14. When we rebuilt the green truck AC, radio, air ride seats, a second fuel tank and the list goes on were added. Soon it will get a tilt nose. We are working on its baby brother right now. This truck is getting AC, stereo, air ride seats, 3.90 gears (instead of the 4.88's) with an air locker, reyco air ride suspension, the mt643 was converted to a mt653 (this added a super low first). No we did not fix that cab. It was replaced with a rust free CA cab. To dress things up we are adding aluminum rims and stainless mirrors.
  15. I would also look at the S cam to make sure it is not binding on the bushings. Also make sure the slack adjuster is not moving on the S cam
  16. It is set up as a camper. I need to lower it a couple of inches so it fits inside the shop Here is a picture of it when it was in service.
  17. Not red but it is a big ford
  18. Looks like it could be a Bucyruss Erie 22b
  19. Brings new meaning to the term MEAT MARKET There is nothing like that around here, actually I am happy when the people shopping actually put on clothes and are not wearing there pajamas We have a drought out here and people are desperate to take a shower
  20. What is the difference if it is trying to come through the back of the cab or the roof?
  21. What is the difference if it is trying to come through the back of the cab or the roof?
  22. This explains where all the Mack's in California are hiding
  23. It does take a lot of work to do it right. My system, not on a mack, is a mixture of parts to minimize the known problems. My advice is to use a new condenser and evaporator and keep them clean. Use a new compressor. The air dryer should me replaced any time the system is open to the atmosphere. One often overlooked part is the expansion valve, or office tube, make sure it is new and or clean. The hoses are also very important. Over the years I have had a lot of problems with crimps leaking. I also hate those snap lock connections, I think that is the correct name. It is so much less fatiguing to drive around in a cool can than sweat in a hot one.
