  1. A big "10-4" to all of the previous posts. Merry Christmas and say a prayer for America's future.
  2. Amazing huh? A lot of experienced people here and we are all (so it seems to me) now scratching our heads about what we have taken for granted as we bend over with an air chuck on a tire at 90 pds! Have to admit- only "fear" I've ever had is an uncaged lock ring taking off
  3. This is the travesty of this so called new environmental agreement. I do believe China and India are exempt from certain regulations/restrictions. Why? Just think, the American foundry industry was put out of business by the Clean Air Act. This partially explains why so much crap is made in China today-or India-go find some "weld-on" hooks that DON"T have a "made in India" package. Once again our two leading apologists -Barry and the husband of the Heinz Ketchup fortune think they have done a great job with this- totally clueless! We continue to find American industry/workers hamstrung by our so called leadership-who never broke a bead of sweat in their pampered lives.
  4. Freightrain's link has the same wire service story. As an aside I called one of the biggest multi location commercial tire outfits this AM to check on what it would cost me for them to blast these Daytons I picked up -(35 bucks-just the rim itself). I asked the guy what he had heard and he said..."probably an f-450/550 with 19.5's -Sears won't work on anything bigger and even those must go in a cage even though they are a one piece rim".
  5. Not sure if this is the right forum, but an unfortunate reminder. A young worker at a Sears tire store was killed this week when a "truck tire" he was working on exploded. He was killed and the customer who was close by was badly injured. No word on exactly what was involved in this incident but a newspaper account indicated he was working on an.."industrial tire changer". I don't usually think of Sears when it comes to large truck tires but the fact that the paper referred to an "industrial tire changer" leads me to believe perhaps this was a 3 piece rim that was not caged. Again a guess. Further point, I picked up two junk tire wheel assemblies last week- 8 x 24 rims-tough to find. One tire not holding air, the other charged. I took them over to a heavy truck shop (where I'm known and they love seeing the old to have them broken down, blasted and painted, and the owner said.."forget it-I'm done working with those". So say a prayer for those involved in this incident which is another painful reminder of what can happen. If anyone has anymore details please post. Thx
  6. And in the early 80's they bought a good number of Ford C-8000's (E-0nes)
  7. My bet is Ford is just doing its homework and this thing will be ready to go if the market clearly says.."yes, we are losing too many sales to Ram with their V-6 ". In the meantime, I 'm sure the Ford position continues to be.."who needs a diesel when the two Ecoboost options give equal performance for less money". The fact that diesel fuel is back to an equal basis with 87 octane, is also a factor that makes the diesel economics a bit better IMO.
  8. No but I was talking to myself as usual
  9. Guys- this was the "perfect storm". Door sensors are mounted like 8" off floor-Dog and cat protectors?? rear tires have cleared beam. Door starts coming down and misses cab roof-and fortunately front windshield which is a big piece of curved glass$$$$- it is now between windshield and then hits the vertical exhaust as I'm backing up. Probably the only thing that would be sort of bullet proof would be another eye that goes diagonally from high side of stall to low side on other side. And 41- I have had that Iphone and IHeart radio going all the time in the barn while working and never an issue. But just think of all the wireless shit we have going on around us all the time now.
  10. EJ--for sure!! But Apple support is pretty good-that is if spending about 6 hours on the phone and still having a problem is "good". Everything worked fine until I had to upgrade to their "newest and greatest" system.
  11. Well anyone have this happen? Couple of years ago I got tired of shoveling snow away from swing out barn doors so I installed an OH door with auto operator. Today I'm backing the Deere out while listening to tunes on the iPhone- I Heart radio. I'm paying attention to rear wheels clearing door jams and I hear a crash. I look forward and OH door has started closing-just missed cab but snags exhaust pipe. Bends the shit out of the OH door panel, exhaust is cocked. No clue as to what happened but can only think one way or another operator picked up a signal from someplace and activated door. Just online with Deere parts- elbow if I can't straighten is 197 bucks and at least one fiberglass OH door panel. Moral of the story I guess-don't listen to your I-phone while traversing your OH doors. I have had OH doors at house open because of "mystery signal-never had one close though and for sure never had barn door activate without deliberate signal before.
  12. Bear with me guys-still have issues with Apple operating system upgrade. It has reversed photo images test 1
  13. I would have to believe there weren't many made with those specs!
  14. Vlad- I'm done! About 6 hrs total time on phone with Apple Support and they still can't figure it out. Like I'm first person in the world who upgraded their OS X system. give them A for effort though. Back online with them in AM! Sorry to clutter the thread but they wanted to see just what was happening.
  15. Thx Jim-and if I can master this new OS I will post some shots of Dan doing the restoration
  16. And for some reason end up with Pix in vertical ???? Back to REAL Mack B-81 single axles- Dan Melone's beauty of a '64-has owned since new when it pulled a Marion tandem dump trailer
