  1. KSC- Where have you been lately-extenjded vacation? Waiting for you world view on my post reference Ford rumor. Big jump in Navistar stock-something happening in terms of a merger???
  2. Well Barry one good thing-Glad to see the Old school bulldog pop up when you log on as opposed to the new short legged mutt that appears in the header. What was Mack thinking?-like would Ford ever abandon the Script and Blue Oval or Chevy dumping the bow tie???
  3. Guys - I picked up a couple of 24" rims that had some junk rubber on them. 8.00. Long story short the lock rings look like junk. What is the proper id for a lock ring for an 8" rim. I have found one that is listed as a 5 degree. Also anyone have a good source for these things. My closest salvage yard who always seemed to have NYC mixer chassis around has nothing.

  6. Also been back to site twice today and both times had to log on-this just me having this issue?
  7. Boy, I really blew this- I said two years-plus they didn't even use the press release I made for them-oh well Posted 19 February 2016 - 09:41 AM POPULAR Again-my very unsophisticated prediction-in about two years we will see a Cat press release that says....." in an effort to focus on its core business and maximize returns to shareholders, Caterpillar will no longer be producing Cat brand on highway vehicles so it can focus on the product lines that have made Caterpillar a leader throughtout the world as the premier builder of construction and mining equipment."
  8. Had someone telling me Ford was soon to announce new truck that will replace the current steel cab 750. Something about using cab components engineered for latest Cargo. would not be the first time cab over components would be used in a conventional. How about it KSC-you seem to be the guy with usual facts on what is going on in the rest of the world. Anything you can post- Fact or BS??
  9. No doubt, anyone but loon Bernie or snake Hillary. As I see it, this is the last chance we have to reset our course and correct the damage the community organizer has done. Having said that, when I step back and look at the big picture, I say NO WAY trump can win. Not saying he is good or bad, just saying do the math-he has alienated too many factions in this country. Does he turn off a lot of Conservatives, Republicans? Yes Does he turn off a lot of women? Yes Does he turn off a lot of Hispanics? Yes Does he need to convince a lot of people who have only voted the Democratic party line in their lives? Yes Do all of the above have to vote in the majority to determine a winner? IMO for sure! At this point he has appealed to the frustrations of a lot of us. But as many others have pointed out, when it comes to specifics, he has none- as I see it. He is a great tough talking, ass kicking cheerleader but if we think this country has been torn apart by the asshole we have now, what makes you think this guys style will make things any different. As for a good candidate, I am one of those who says for sure I would like to see a gov. vs a senator get the nod- Christie in spite of his warts was right about one thing. Senators go to work and decide how they are going to vote- how they are going to align themselves on the issues of the day. A governor on the other hand is frequently forced to make decisions- hard ones that often have serious consequences. We fortunately still have some time to sort this out. And who knows, maybe some dark horse will surface. Oh last point- I believe Trump said how successful he has been. He started off with "only a million" that his father staked him. If I heard correctly, using that number let's say that a lot of us didn't start off with much. Lets say you started your first job with probably about 500 bucks equity in a car/pick up whatever. Dad probably did NOT give you a big check. Maybe you still lived in the family house for a while but for sure you were not given anything. Having said that, trump is now worth 3.1 billion. If you do a proportion and compare Trump at 1million/3.1 billion and your 500 bucks/"X", if you are worth 1.5million or more today, you have done better than Trump. My bet is there are plenty of posters on this site that are in that boat!
  10. Pat, With all the so called "defections" to Paccar, nice to see a big order with the dog on the hood!
  11. Well K-F- given the way it came out, I would not worry bout the time it took!! And maybe its just me but a lot of Value Liners to me always have a "tired" look-not yours! 68-F- Educate me-(US?) How did you flip the pix? I have a Mac Book if it matters.
  12. To echo Jim- specs? Are they all in your yard yet? Hope to make it to Dennis Y's next week so maybe we will swing by for a first hand look- Bob
  13. Well went down to barn today and got underneath-inspection plate long gone. Springs are "green". dug out old "Operation and Maintenance Manual" -no print date but id'd as Form No. TS-442. pg 106 single plate Model CL -28 clutch "18 green springs" Also by the way lists two plates- CL -50 and CL-505
  14. First thought-surplus trailer from a steel mill-haulijng ingots whatever. Then thinking- New England? Maybe hauling big stone for waterfront projects. Case in point, I'm involved in a beach restoration project now and spec calls for 5-6 ton "toe stone" as first course. that would be a hunk of granite about 4 x 4 x 4. How do you move that stuff? Chain it on a flat or lowboy? or maybe some heavy low sideboard dump- loaded by grapple or chain-off loaded same way??? In any case beauty of an R model!
  15. Ok guys-always an education here as to how little I know! My "61X" started life as a 60X and then at some point a 711/Duplex was installed. Then a factory reman 237 (had 10,000 on it when it came out of a wreck). No clue as to what clutch is-assuming Duplex was what was with the 711? What do I look for to "iD" clutch?- figure better to get an understanding before I have a quick need to replace.
  16. IMO, for big pours where you are just backing up to a big concrete pump, the lower first cost and lower operating cost of a rear discharge works. If you do a lot of residential construction work, moving around a job site to get all four sides (or more), tough to beat a front discharge. contractors once they get used to the speed of a pour with the driver up front, hydraulically directing the chute, discharge rate etc, tough to go back to a rear discharge. A lot less manual labor required with the front discharge. Just an observation, but the big guys that do mostly commercial jobs in downtown Boston, seem to still buy rear discharge. the outfits that do more residential type stuff in the 'burbs, all seem to buy nothing but front discharge.
  17. Hmn. For real? Biggest logs on top?
  18. Supporting comment---I believe my friend got his from an outfit in Syracuse. We are in central Mass!
  19. Hah-that to me would make more sense than trying to build up a brand from scratch. Navistar keeps building these "Cats" for what-- another year? And then they start building them in a Cat plant in Texas that was built originally to produce excavators??? The Chinese will start flooding the market here with their clone construction equipment-Cat should worry about that-not trying to take vocational truck business from Navistar-Paccar-etc. IMO By the way, hate to say it but a friend of mine bought a new Liugong loader last winter-before we got the record snow. About a 3 yd. machine-half the cost of a Cat. We all chuckled about all the nickel dime shit he was going to go through. well he paid for it with the record snow fall we had and he I'm sad to say has no regrets. reminds me of when Ford was still in the tractor business. I had a friend that sold yellow Deeres. He would say, once he lost a customer to Ford (555!), the customer got used to that extra cash he still had in the bank or the much smaller monthly payments. The greater residual the Deere would have? His kids would have to deal with that.
  20. Again-my very unsophisticated prediction-in about two years we will see a Cat press release that says....." in an effort to focus on its core business and maximize returns to shareholders, Caterpillar will no longer be producing Cat brand on highway vehicles so it can focus on the product lines that have made Caterpillar a leader throughtout the world as the premier builder of construction and mining equipment."
  21. Agree 100%. this is a great site-because of some people who have inside knowledge most of us don't have. 41-good thought but if this was the option, often times we see posts that refer to items that were in fact previoiusly posted months ago. Seems like that is a good feature to retain. Is it a cost factor to expand the "memory cap"? My first thought, if the "cap" is based on the potential for ALL members to utilize that cap, I would have to think that posters (such as myself) would never come close to hitting that number.
  22. Isn't this a matter of deleting old attachments? Is this something that is unique to all websites or just BMT?
  23. Any word yet on the cause. Miracle that there was only one fatal.
  24. My thought was...."What did this halftime show cost?" A big pile of money for sure that these "stars" gladly took. Hmnn-what if the half time show was put on by schools? Be they high school, college-whatever-musical performances, marching bands whatever. And the NFL could make sizeable donations with the savings toward scholarship funds at the participating schools. Think of the benefit to kids who could use it. Bottom line, an outrage IMO. Roger I would think had to put the final stamp of approval on the entire thing. Then again, look what he makes per year.
