  1. Send me your address, I will get them out some time this week. Andy
  2. Thanks, didn't get much more done this weekend, but some. I organized all the parts and brought a load of rusty metal up to my local media blaster. I also decided on which cab I was going to use and got it home to my shop. I got some stuff stripped off the cab as well in preparation for media blasting. I'm hoping to drop off the cab, doors and other BS when I pick up the first load of parts. Andy
  3. Thanks for comments guys, I used a couple 4" strips of 26 gauge metal. I just set them at the correct diameter with a few screws, It worked out pretty well. The goal is to get the engine cleaned up and in the chassis. I also want to get the air and fuel tanks back on the chassis before the snow flies. Then I can do the metal work on the cab, get the glass back in and all that over the winter. Andy
  4. Im waiting on a few new studs and dogs but should have it rolling pretty quickly after they show up. I'm pretty happy, the frame has only been in my buddies shop for 2 days. He is a busy guy, so I was worried I would be in his way. Fortunately everything went really well, and he didn't need the shop. I'm hoping to bring all the bolt on parts to the non-mobile media blaster Saturday. Next step is to get the 270 out of the grey truck. Andy
  5. Late night, got the second and third coat on the frame after moving it into the shop this afternoon. Also got a good base coat on the rims (one is rotted, so I only have the 9) as well as the spacers. Andy
  6. Got 2 coats of SPI epoxy primer on, it went on really nice. I had the wheels blasted as well, I'm hoping to paint the rims tomorrow. Also I will get the frame in the shop, do one more coat of primer and some top coat. I'm pretty happy with how it is going. Sorry for the dark picture, it was late by the time the primer was on and the gun was clean. Thanks, Andy
  7. Big day today, gonna start mixing some primer.....
  8. That is a funny analogy, and you gotta love 4070s (especially ones that get followed around by F-models). I m bummed out about the grey truck. At the end of the day it will give it's life to save another, better than being cut up for scrap I suppose. If anyone wants the 250 I will make a BMTer a good deal on it. It has really good oil pressure and I think the skip is probably not terminal. Someone who knows these old cummins motors could probably get it running well. I'd guess it is a something sticking in the pump, the skip comes and goes. I would rather someone hear it run before pulling it out. Andy
  9. I took the truck down the street as well in hopes that a little ride would clear up the skip the old 250 has. It didn't help unfortunately, I changed the fuel filter and added some Lucas injector cleaner. I also pulled the passenger side fuel tank, doors, air filter, and luberfiner. At this point I figure the 270 is probably going to be put into the red truck. I should probably stop being lazy and pull the cab off the frame, but as I've said before I'm not trying to build a show truck. Thanks, Andy
  10. I got a blasting guy lined up for this week, my hope is to get frame, cab, wheels done in one day. All the bolt on stuff can be done after. I ground out all the bondo I could find, there was alot! There is some metal work that needs to be done but that is no problem. The door pins on big red are like a hot dog in a hallway, but the hinges on the fire truck doors are perfect so I will be using those.

  12. I attached the quote, I'm not sure if you will be able to see it. The $10,600 was with re-using the front 8 feet of the outer rail only. It also included duplicating the crossmembers.

  14. The frame has a very small amount of spreading but I can handle that. It has 8 brand new caps on the rear and 2 new steer tires, the steers aren't mounted yet. There are alot of brake issues that need to be dealt with. I'm a little bummed because it looks like my winch won't fit, but I will get over it. The red truck has a NH-250 and the grey truck has the PT-270, any advantage to swaping in the 270? The 270 has Jakes and the 250 does not. I have a mobile media blasting guy potentially coming out next Friday to do the frame, rears, bumpers and whatnot. I should find out tomorrow weather or not that is really gonna happen. Andy
  15. Well, bad news form the frame shop, $10,600 for the frame and crossmembers. That is too rich for my blood, I just can't justify it. Add to that $1200 for new fenders and $700 for new frame hardware from McMaster Carr. 12,500 and I wouldn't really be out of the woods. So, for 2/3s of the cost I bit the bullet and bought the red truck. The seller delivered it to my buddies today, what do you guys think?
  16. That thing is sweet, what are the plans for it? Are you gonna combine this with the yellow "glider" you posted up a while ago? Andy
  17. Saw this B73 today at an auto detailing shop in Malden, Ma. It looks pretty darn nice, couple bubbles in the paint, but I'd sure be proud of it. Andy
  18. I just got a call from PG Adams, they said producing the front "belly drop" in my frame would be very pricey, and they might not even be able to do it. Fortunately that section of frame is in fine shape, and they can possibly set me up with pre drilled repair sections. They are gone take a closer look at it Tuesday and let me know. I guess I'm in limbo for the weekend. Andy
  19. It is $3800 for 4 (they are double the entire length)10"x 3.5"x 27' 6" rails, made from 1/4" grade 100 steel. Another 3k for punching 200 holes in the DS rail and 150 in the PS rail. To me the price of the rails seems reasonable, the holes I expected to be cheaper honestly. It is not a deal breaker, but if the crossmembers bring the total over 10k I'm gonna have to take a second look at the project. When she was writing the initial quote she told me that they always try to quote the jobs in a "worst case" type scenario, and that typically the more detailed quote after they get a look at the parts are a bit cheaper. Let's hope that is the case here. On the other hand the twin stick driving doesn't seem as difficult as I was expecting, it is challenging for sure. The truck had no weight on, no doubt that made my life easier as well. Andy
  20. We loaded the frame and and crossmembers on my fathers moving van and he brought them to the freight yard today. As a side project also painted my buddies samurai OD green last night at my shop, it came out pretty good for a little woods buggy. Also have my other buddies 55 Chevy in the shop so he can use the lift, I figured I would snap a few pics as there isn't much to look at on my truck. Thanks, Andy
  21. I did weld up the holes that were being eliminated, figured it would be less confusing that way. The frame should arrive to Adams tomorrow. My experience with PG Adams has been very positive so far, but I'm getting a bit concerned about what the bill is gonna be. When I was searching for this truck I found a F230D for sale that is in much better shape than mine. If the cost of getting the new frame exceeds the cost of buying this other truck, I might have to consider it. It was not my intention obviously, but we will see when the quotes start rolling in. There initial quote for the frame was 7k, and the truck below, with a good frame is available for not alot more than that. My crossmembers were also in tough shape so I went them to PG as well. I will know more at the end of the week. Thanks, Andy
  22. It is out, I broke it free with a porta-power last night. It was too late for decent pics though. Got it completely out today, and gave it a preliminary cleaning. I have a lot of cleaning to do, I figure I can shoot some paint on the engine and transmissions just to keep the rust at bay. I'm gonna try to get the holes that are being eliminated welded up, and make a hardware list over the weekend. If all goes well PG Adams will have the old frame by September 1, which was/is my goal. Andy
