Going thru an old trailer I bought there is an old truck magazine dated September 1976. Doesn't say TBG as it does today. I enjoy reading old ads. Gateway ford up in White River Jct, Vt, Charlie Kelton's, Mel's truck sales, Ralph's. Patsy's KW has a 'Leftover" 1975 K100. When I bought my 83 Cruiseliner it had a few old truck magazines and log books from 1987 when it was parked. Like a time capsule. Ive been collecting old truck brochures from the 70's & 80's. Intresting reading

they must be pricing the whole filter assy, don't know which you have but if it the one with the drain hose from the filter to the bottom of block you un screw the housing and replace the filter inside, up to 97or 98 the part # of the filter inside is 57GC2134A new #85136709, the price should be around 18.00. The oil filters are 485gb3191C /21939324 on the E7, The Etech engine oil filter 185GB3236 / 21939298 but it will work on E7 engine too, just filters better, the are around 12.00 a piece, should be around 42.00. and cheaper it you go with the old oil filters.
Ok, thank you for that info

Servicing my E7 to find it has 2 oil filters and a "centrimax" filter. What is it & does it need it? Keep in mind this is just a plow truck. It only runs from Nov thru early Apr. Doesn't work hard. Local dealer wants $85 for the centrimax unit. Can it be replaced with a regular spin on filter?

Wow!! So im in the wrong with the 6 trucks that are all 1993 or older that we have greatly modified to be better more efficient trucks for us? Not to mention the modified trucks that we have sold. Seems to me that if your paying for it you should have what works best for you. My 1.6 million mile 26 yr old road tractor does a fine job. Its had many mod's done to it. Very rarely does it go a day without at least 1 compliment. If its man made it may fail someday. If its new electronic P.O.S. it WILL fail. And you most likely cant fix it on the side of the road to get ya home. Just my thoughts. One of our 93's had a PEEK 3406C. The other 3406C is mechanical. I converted the PEEC to full mechanical pump. Twice the truck now. My 83 Mack still goes trucking during the summer. The E9 gets @ 6.1 MPG. Each to their own but im with "The King Of Obsolete". Hope im not too opinionated, just wanted to add my 2 cents

Whats the cooler mounted to the exhaust stack behind the cab for?

Look on U tube 1975 Autocar hauling Hogs. I like the round fenders of that truck. Plus I like the Wilson trailer. We had 2 Wilson Bullracks back in the day
-
Heard a story years back that the engineer that helped design the Ford CL had a hand at Mack with the MH. Would be interesting to know what the real deal is. There are similarities between the two.
-
I would think they set the cab off to the right. What would be the sense of having the driver sit in the middle of the truck?

No news from the TS for a long time. I too hope the blocks were put right and the wood was hard enough.
Yes. Good point

Now that's a Dedicated mechanic

That's pretty common for up here in northern N.E. If you like the truck have the frame fixed. Be cheaper than updateing. There are shops around that will fix repair or replace.
-
And when you are blocking the cab be sure to place blocks under same braceing that cab air bags rest on. You don't want the cab coming down on you or the blocks going up thru the fiberglass

Were you busy at Fairlee time of the show?
No my ten yr son shows Dairy cows so we were at Cornish fair. Being a full time single Dad now for 7 yrs is a challenge. I miss tractor pulling and truck shows. But im happy to help my son do something he is really into. Cows are better than computers in my opinion

I understand the modifications part. They didn't come with a Lund visor? thought the 600 or light versions did not have the bumper that stuck out. I ask to learn. Intresting. Thank you
-
Ok, if that's a RW 600 why does the bumper stick out? I was told that only the 700 series did that
-
You got that right. They would not be happy

Welcome aboard. Very nice!! Where are ya located? Any more pics of the Cruiseliner? I should learn how to scan old pics and post them. Back in the 80's we had a 82 Cruiseliner pulling our 78 Wilson slat trailer

Nice Chevy. Very sad to hear about the 9670 going to scrap. R.I.P.

By allergy do you mean algae? There's a fungicide fuel treatment you can use. Kills it, but nothing's going to dissolve it. Pretreat fuel with it when you fill a truck up.
Yes that's what I ment. I use Lucas for the lubrication part but im wondering how best to prevent the algae?

I was talking to a Gentlemen the other day who said he runs 2 cycle oil in his fuel for his old 3406A. Has anybody ever tried this? He claims it will keep the alleregy from forming in the fuel

My 83 Cruiseliner has 5.73 ratio with a .62 overdrive TR1070 in it on 22.5s. Does 72 mph at 2100 rpm. I was running it to Pa every week couple of summers ago. Even with the E9 it still did 6.1 mpg

Sure do miss him and touring his yard. Along with Jim Bristol and running over to Ralph's whenever we needed parts to finish a project
