  1. I was told they cracked because of the air ride. Because with air ride, your weight sits on top of the axle, with camelback, the weight is hanging from the axle. And they weren't reinforced correctly til around 2007. Not sure how true that is.
  2. The only issue I have ever had with Mack rears is the actual housing cracking. Supposedly that was fixed in the mid or later 2000's
  3. Will the consoles be reinforced a little better than original? Or less brittle?
  4. Not a problem as long as maintenance has been done. I have a 2001 460 cl with over a million miles and it pulls crazy good. Stage 2 injectors helps a little.
  5. Are you gonna be building the overhead consoles? Will they he available in different colors?
  6. Do you have to take it in and get crank/cam correlation set? I did a PT Cruiser and motor wouldn't run over 2500 rpm til that was done. I honestly would scrap it. Not really worth putting money in because I learned the hard way, they just keep costing you more and more.
  7. There should be a pigtail on the harness end that supposedly prevents oil wicking up the harness from sensor failure. I replace the pigtail too.
  8. The "environmentalists" took care of this for us. To much sulfur in the coal made fuel, and to expensive to remove. We have more coal than anything, but I guess we'll just sit on it.
  9. Absolutely, the mack silicone is the best stuff on earth. I use it on my shifter caps too.
  10. Yeah, I had a wheel explode on one and it took off my pointer finger. I won't use those anymore.
  11. Here you go. https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/ctd/d/eyota-1984-mack-dm686s-tri-axle-dump/7495814182.html
  12. Another "Manders Special" Everything they sell is pieced together. Getting parts for a truck you buy from them is a nightmare. You usually use your Vin number for parts, on a Manders Special, everything is mismatched and the Vin is worthless in identifying anything. You want a twin stick 6 speed in that truck or a 5 speed.
  13. We have strange governor behavior in Minnesota too.
  14. Thermostat should be replaced every couple years no matter what. I agree about your fan clutch being bad. Also VERIFY your temp with a heat gun. Make sure radiator is in good shape too.
  15. That would be a great place to start. Some have two sensors, one for gauge and one for the ecm. I would fix that wire and go from there.
  16. There are aftermarket mack shift knobs tor 18 speed available now. They're not 35 bucks like the Eaton ones but theyre half price of mack parts.
  17. 2-2 is coolant temp sensor. Check wiring around sensor and harness, make sure it's not rubbed through. Could also be bad sensor. It's trying to shut u down when driving.
  18. I like Melans.....or is it melons?
