  1. Rotella. Also watch the allen bolts that hold the unit pumps in, pron to braking. Service bulletin for that says to replace bolts when doing pumps. I had 2 pop around 300,000 miles.
  2. I checked it out at York and was a tight fit to say the least but nicely done.
  3. It states a two stage engine brake. I've never heard of one on an E9. It's easy enough to do but always thought it shouldn't be done on an E9.
  4. If he doesn't want it, I have a pair of steel tanks off a 94 RD I will trade you if your interested. Let me know and I will send pictures.
  5. This is my Judge that I bought in High school in 1979. Still have it today. 68,000 miles. Ram air III, 4 speed. I remember buying it and thought to myself, wow I'm buying an old car, it's 10 years old. Paid $200.00 for it, and had a hard time coming up with it. I guess that was a good investment!
  6. I cut my teeth on a machine just like that in the early 70's. I could never get the hang of starting it with the pony engine. Angle blade was a manual angle,
  7. Don't feel bad, a friend years ago bought an old state truck. Sent it to have a PM done and when they pulled the drain plug, they could see parts inside. Sent the truck home and when we pulled the pan, hand full of pistons parts where in the pan. Motor was fine, didn't need anything. So you know they put whatever parts were needed in the motor and just put the pan back up.
  8. Was it hitting the cab or hitting the cross brace that goes across the cab mounts? When I changed my trans in my Superliner from a 9 speed to a 12 speed, I had to move the cross brace to the other position to clear the trans. The brackets for the cab have two different positions for different trans.
  9. I had trucks rented to Penndot for 10 years. We would run trains on the interstate with 3 trucks in a row. I can't tell you how many times cars would come up and try to pass in between the trucks with rooster tails of snow flying 10 feet in the air. The trains would run 50 MPH, not that we were going slow but people are so impatient. In those 10 years, I could write a book on the things I saw.
  10. Would a 12,000 lb axle have 6 spoke hubs?
  11. Two years ago I bought my B755 from Dennis over at Old macks. He had just finished a deal on a truck very similar to this one and for around the same amount of money. Truck went to Australia into a truck museum. The time frame fits. I have to wonder if it was the same truck?

  13. I just went through that with my 2000 RD. The dealer reprogrammed the computer and that took care of the stumble. Sounds just like what mine was doing.
  14. Does anyone have a E9 oil pan they would sell? I have E9 and E7 parts for trade. Tell me what you need and I will check to see if I have them.
  15. Got the problem fixed. I took the truck to my local Mack garage. They said Mack had an issue with the computers. They installed an updated program and it took care of the problem.
  16. I tried moving the pedal as I drove, no different. Also tried the cruise, no different. Next?
  17. I thought about the pedal maybe being the problem. If I had another pedal around I would swap it to see if that is the problem but every other truck I have is mechanical. I have not tried the cruise.
  18. Ok, changed the check valve, no different, changed the lift pump, no different. Could it be a weak eup? I've changed 2 of them in the past but that was for fuel leaks. Can they be checked in the motor or do they have to be removed to be tested? I also noticed a stumble when the jake first comes on. Could it be connected or 2 different problems?
  19. My 94 RD was a 350. I had the pump rebuilt and turned up. Put a 427 turbo on it and installed "super flow" injectors (90HP) was getting 490 Hp. Only thing I learned was to make sure the 8LL had the trans cooler installed, which it did. Also did the same set up on my 2000 RD but was an Etec 400. The Etec ran a little better than the E7 350.
  20. The light does work, goes out after a couple of seconds. Its a definite stumble. If you pull out and go very easy on the throttle, it won't do it. The same way in between shifts. What should the fuel pressure be? I was told to test it under a load, and while driving. It does smoke at first shift but only a short blast of black.
  21. My tri-axle has a stumble at low RPM's. 2000 RD with a 400. Seems to be worse when the engine is cold. The harder you try to pull out, the worse it is. If it had a carburetor, it would say it is loading up. That's what it feels like. Injectors and turbo have been replaced and it did it with the old one also. No "check engine" light. Could it be an air intake sensor without a check engine light? or something else?
  22. When the computer age came around, my wife's uncle is a computer designer. He was on the team that computerized the B-52.
