so yesterday I was passing Maggio's on I39 and saw a giant gold mack bulldog sticking up over the trailers in the lot closest to the highway. I never noticed it before, and have never made it to the show at their place. When I went back south it was dark, but you could still see the outline of it in the lights from the building. I figure someone on here must know what it is, or what it is sitting on top of.

most roll off trailers do have the controls on the trailer, they also have a valve to lock the trailer brakes, so you can suck the trailer under the box like you are saying. I have noticed if the box is really heavy, you will want the tractor straight with the trailer, which in a tight spot might be tough. if your tractor is air ride, trying to load the heavy boxes will really unload the air suspension, and even with the tractor brakes set, it may slide. we use the roll off trailer for house wreckage, then switch to a dump trailer for concrete. My two cents would be to stay with a roll off truck, if that's your primary business, we do excavating and lowboy stuff a lot, so we have all different trailers and just a couple tractors

nine inch, not sure if the offset is enough different than the 8.25 to make a difference on a lift axle or not. on a steer axle you might have to adjust the stops

i think I saw it...like about $20k. I cant pay $20k for something I know someone only put $9k into. would be a really cool truck to have though

found this superliner in Bolingbrook today. Pretty sure its from Ruffalo sewer and water that sold out a couple years ago. If it is, the truck didn't move too far away, although it looks like they drove it here from the auction and it hasn't moved since. I think it sold for around $9k at the auction (could be wrong on that)

I've heard east coast heavy duty towing is expensive. Place I worked before I bought my own truck charges $145.00 hr for a trac/trailer. in Illinois we can tow them together, but I know that isn't the case everywhere. 10 mile tow shouldn't have been more than $400. just my 2 cents

believe it or not...the local Mack dealer sells batteries at the best price around here! (and I am a peterbilt guy) but I cant remember the brand. Also I have had good luck with interstate.

I am not sold on the rhino lining. if you get one scratch or nick in it, the moisture can get under it and start to rot from the inside. I've seen a truck frame rot away under the rhino lining and a wrecker bed the same thing

no more hoppers at yard 19 - just get loaded by the pile...if you dump dirt you have to drive under a conveyor that dumps screenings all over your hood and cab and drive through ruts that would eat a pickup truck all the way to the bottom.

I would rate material service yard 19 in McCook as the absolute worst ever...doesn't matter if you are getting stone or dumping dirt, that place sucks...and I get to go there every day

on that note... does anyone else have one of these? its a 2007 pre emission 427 with a 8LL...blows black smoke like an old r model (which is cool) at lower rpms (like 1200-1400) and won't get out of it's own way no matter how you shift it. I've been about 90000# with the backhoe on - that makes for a long slow ride

Here's a few from today - the first is what appears to be an old "K Konstruction" truck with a new paint job and a new name Benny's? at yard 19 in McCook - The second is the dredging operation when they are running the six wheelers with the tag axles in Downers Grove (not a very good pic) - and the last is my new late afternoon ride...the lowboy driver had shoulder surgery and is out for the rest of the year so after hauling dirt I get to trade my 550 hp 18 spd pete for a 427 (supposedly) 8LL granite to move equipment

i think the placement of the fifth wheel would depend on the pin location on the trailer, along with how much weight you plan on hauling
