  1. thanks guys. hopefully getting her home today so the fun can begin. photos to follow.
  2. Yeh, dragging it backwards seams like a very bad idea. The home brew and patience is the way forward. do you think the injectors will come out without a fight?
  3. I can't find a supplier in the UK? Don't fancy paying the postage. looks like there are no tried and tested methods. guess I will just have to try and learn. The overwhelming theme seems to be patience. One guy said I could try towing it in reverse with a tractor and dumping the clutch. think that could be the way to destroy my engine and box.
  4. Looks like good stuff. We use WD-40 here and its pretty good stuff. Not sure about it's magical properties on un seizing engines. I am in short supply of patience but think I may need to learn how to take my time on this project. Cant wait to hear her fire up tho. 11 liter diesel should sound sweet.
  5. pb blaster? is that a trade name? Think I might go for the diesel and oil and thinners and patience. The first three I have lots of but the last not so much.
  6. bug spray and smoke screen? god bless diesels. I've got plenty thinners and a big tub of old engine oil. are there any other problems with macks that have been sitting for years? brakes are free and prop turns.
  7. Had the same problem with my apprentice. He bent and broke about 2 wrenches and god knows how many extention bars. I saw him bringing up the burning gear and thought he was only taking the wheels off, came out the office and pointed out the "L" and "R" marked on the studs. If your not sure ask, don't just keep banging your head against a brick wall.
  8. I like the way you think ! you are giving me ideas. Maybe I should wait til they have a garden full of laundry. hopefully getting the truck home this week so I will know how bad the motor is. One more question? my dad says that the truck was painted with lead based paint? is he talking bull?
  9. got it. seen a diesel running on it's own oil before and it was a scary sight. I am the eternal optimist and hope that the engine will turn with a little tlc. just hope that the neighbours are ready for the noise and smoke.
  10. I see. quite keen to build mine back to the way it was when the Cia got it.
