  1. I always want to make some remark but you probably have already heard them all.
  2. Has it been smoking or leaking oil? It's possible you scored the liners when it overheated and now it's using a lot of oil. If that's the case you need an overhaul.
  3. I grew up around trucks and always wanted to drive one for a living. When I got into high school I took diesel mechanics at a vo-tech school so I would fully understand the engine, driveline, etc. When I graduated, I took a job at a Cat dealer working on truck engines since no one would hire an 18 year old to drive. Later on I got to do some OTR driving and found out that I actually enjoyed turning wrenches more than driving. What Mike says about opportunity is very true.
  4. He says he just had the lights and tires checked out too.
  5. The chrome--axles, intake pipes, man that thing is beautiful!
  6. Ol2, is that a 4-71? Is it easy to get parts for the 2 cycle DDs?
  7. One of these days I'm going to have to visit the eastern half of PA...you have a lot of history there. That Rockville bridge sounds pretty neat.
  8. That thing does look like a beast.
  9. Sorry if this truck has already been posted on BMT, but I saw it at the custom car show in February here in Columbus. It's a Ford body "F1350" stretched onto a 6x6 Mack military chassis. He did a nice job and it's a cool truck!
  10. If you get Hulu Plus on the interwebs (costs about $10/month), they carry Pickers.
  11. That really is a shame...preserving history is an admirable venture.

    Last LTL?

So does that mean this is not an LTL? Should he call it an LTSW instead?
  13. Found this on Truck Paper. It says it's the last LTL built, but I notice the vin tag says LTSW. Whyzat? https://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/19789935/1953-mack-ltl
  14. Pretty cool! I like the control pod in front of the steering wheel.
  15. I'm not a Mack expert, but I worked on Cummins and Cat for years. The Luberfiner was an aftermarket piece; you could order it on a new truck but not everyone wanted them. The old 673 Macks had an oil filter that looks very much like a Luberfiner, but the housing is shorter.
  16. FWD, you really have it out for DD. Did one slobber on your new blacktop driveway or something?
  17. Hey! I like the sound of a 2 stroke at full load...the world wouldn't be the same without them.
  18. Nice truck! I always thought the LTL9000's were sharp trucks. Tilting that hood is a two man operation unless he's got better helper springs than what came from the factory.
  19. If America is such a terrible place why are people from other countries dying to move here? I'd be willing to bet that anyone who's offended by these plaques have skeletons in their ancestors' closets that would offend someone else.
