  1. There doesn't appear to be much rust on it...that would be an excellent project.
  2. I like how you hold that left front wheel off the ground until you let off the throttle...nice pull!
  3. Those black fenders sure look nice...I'll bet hobert62 will like that one.
  4. I'd have smashed one of my toes off by now if I didn't have boots on. Many jobs I've been to require boots.
  5. I would sure like to see an H model on the highway! I haven't seen one out on the road for at least 20 years. For some stupid reason or another I always miss the big shows where these are.

  7. This is a PAI brand cover for an R model if it will work for you. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MACK-TRUCK-R-MODEL-BATTERY-BOX-COVER-NEW/302854420998?hash=item468387ba06:g:1LQAAOSwxzdaAHsC
  8. It would be dangerous for me to have a wrecker...projects would follow me home! ;--)
  9. It always amazes me what lengths people will go to when they try to prove the Bible is wrong. These scientists will find every answer they need there.
  10. That is a sharp-looking truck and a super handy bed unloader. I wouldn't want to get my fingers in between those gears though.
  11. Don't tempt me with those shiny pictures!!

We need to form a group for hood owners..."my name is Joe, and I have a problem. Not all my trucks are COEs". With help and encouragement, you can overcome.
  13. Are those Mack bushings, or where did you get them? What is the part number? Thank you!
  14. John Conlee. Great song (Backside of Thirty is slightly better).
  15. That's a terrible thing when your personal rights are violated (box of tissues please). What rights did our soldiers have when they were putting their life on the line to give us the freedom to protest? Sure glad Hill didn't get elected.
  16. Yes. And the flywheel-to-crank nuts had cotter pins in them.
  17. Well, you guys steered me in the right direction...I gave up searching for larger dowels. I found a 21/32" reamer and drill bushing at McMaster Carr and took them to my local machine shop; they made me a guide out of 3/4 bar stock and made a couple of dowel pins that were .002" larger than the reamer. I pulled the old dowels and centered the housing (that was a pain). I bolted the jig up and reamed the holes (lined up perfectly); then I ran some emery cloth on a drill arbor in the flywheel housing holes so it would slide over the dowels without having to beat it on with a hammer. I tapped the dowels into the block and bolted everything together; total runout is now .001" so I am tickled pink. Don't laugh at my dial indicator setup; I had to make it out of "found items" in my shop (yes, the piece that's bolted to the crank is a CB antenna bracket). A very big "Thank you" to all you BMT guys! For some reason my photos are in reverse order...the top one is the finished product.
  18. Hey, that U model has blocks under the left wheel to keep it from falling over!
  19. Talk about selfless...not giving a whit about his own safety, only wanting to take care of others. A truly great American.
  20. Basically if it is an authorized oem part I would consider that NOS. If it was not intended for sale at an oem dealer, then your point about NORS makes a lot of sense.
  21. Here's a question for the community...I've recently talked to two guys who say that NOS parts can be aftermarket. My understanding has always been that they are OEM parts only. I also read a column on Hemmings that said factory parts (not aftermarket). What is your take on this?
