  1. Whats up Tom,

No one here has heard of 85w90 but ya can buy all day 80w90 or 85w140. I bought Shell since i'm kinda partial to it now. So I come home with 80w90. Started it up this morning and to my surprise "kinda" the shutter cylinder popped open like it's supposed to. So now I can put the shutters back on and the radiator shroud. One more week then, I can drive on my new driveway, can hardly wait..... Hey, when are we going to visit you know who?...I can see him now putting up xmas lights on the roof of the garage and house. Bet that would be a site to see.

    mike

I probably used 80/90 too, I just said 85/90 because Herb did and I figured he knew what he was talking about, where I just fake it. I bought gallon jugs of it and a top with a hose so you could use them like a squirt bottle.

And I happened to pass by Rob's house this week and snapped a picture-unfortunately it was too late to stop and say "howdy" cuz I had to be in Miami the next morning with that load of watermelons.

  2. I have inspected for the first time my transmission oil in the duplex. When I put my finger inside to see if the oil was near the filler plug....it was, but a strange thing I noticed was.....the oil was foamy with air and bubbles and the smell was of an old and whipped state of being. When I would start the truck it would start leaking oil where the flywheel or front shaft is located when the truck got warmed up or when I would drive it up and down the driveway. My question is can I use an oil with the oil that is now inside that will clean the old oil out of the transmission without damaging results to the gears? And what oil would ya recommend?

    THX

    mike :mack1:

mine was the same way, foamy, except it was low too. I pulled the drain plugs and refilled both boxes with new 85/90 gear oil, no problems since. I am gonna check my bellhousing bolts though, never thought of that before.

  3. Hey Larry,

The former owner replaced the whole floor with a solid piece of metal. So now I'll have to settle for an assistant. Nikki looks good on the ladder don't you think?.....but I can't figure why Rob would have caught that photo of her on the ladder and showed everyone? He musta had one of his moments.

  5. Ran up behind this trailer heading east on I-80 near Youngstown, Ohio Thursday. I was wondering why anybody would have one of those on the back of a trailer, and if it was a mushroom head or a saucer head. When I got closer I could tell it was neither, it was a Michael Jordan head.

amazing what a little photoshopping will do...just painted out the ears- looks like something totally different.

  6. That's BS

Years ago when I sometimes used unsavory language, I often used the expression "Bull S***." As I grew up a bit and discovered it was not necessary to use such crude language, that expression became "BS."

What did I really mean when I used those expressions? I meant that something was ridiculous, or idiotic or a half truth or just stupid. It covered any number of negative formats. The dictionary defines it as: nonsense; especially: foolish insolent talk...

I have decided that I no longer will use either of those expressions in the future. When I have a need to express such feelings, I will use the word "Pelosi." Let me use it in a sentence. "That's just a bunch of Pelosi.." I encourage you to do the same. It is such a nasty sounding word, it really packs a punch, we are no longer being vulgar, and it clearly expresses our feelings. If enough of us use it, perhaps the word could be entered into the dictionary. When on a ranch watch your step and don't step in Pelosi. It will get on the bottom of your boot and won't go away until next election. What a fitting and descriptive legacy for the Speaker of the House!

PASS IT ON TO AT LEAST 10,000,000 PEOPLE. DO NOT BREAK THIS CHAIN OR YOU WILL GET MORE PELOSI THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A BULL AT.

    Rob

what a crock of Pelosi! I hate getting those Pelosi e-mails that say "forward to 10 people, or bad things will happen". I don't even know 10 people, so how am I supposed to pass this on to 10,000,000?...Pelosi!!!

  7. Trust me Rowdy the cops love those types cause they know when they start pulling their pants up they are about to run so it makes them easier to catch. Hell it's hard for me to walk right with my pants around my knees and I can't even run with them round my knees. Whats funny is most of these people who try to imitate the gangsta lifestyle don't even know anything about it. I don't even know about it and I don't care to. I don't need to imitate anything cause I don't want to blend in. I rather be different and stand out and obviously I do.

You are a good man Double L- and going back to what Rob said, I have to agree about Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. White people haven't cornered the market on racism either. They can also be any color-Al and Jesse are 2 good examples.

Everybody should go by what a TRUE great American said, that "a man should be judged by the content of his character, not the color of his skin"- Martin Luther King

  8. "well, there you go again...."

I belive that health insurance should only be for castrophic problems. Routine check ups and minor problems should be paid in cash between you and your

Doctor. This would do a number of things. First it withdraw that large "pool of cash" that everyone belives is there (it isn't). It would make a person more responsible for their care. The Doctors would be forced to be more conmpetative as people would watch their dollars and shop for the best price. Same goes for medication. Once the cash and carry is installed , the market will dictate the price.

With insurance, private or (God forbid) Government, everyone doesn't care about the price because 'I'm not paying for it." The Doctors don't care what the charges are becuase there is a "huge pool of money out there and I gonna get some." Even minor surgeries and elective surgery should be paid for in cash by the consumer. Again you vote with you dollar and go for the best deal.

The other problem is the protection that the insurance companies have. Open up the states so that insurnace can be sold Nation wide. This will increase competition and as the companies chase the dollars price goes down or the policey would inprove and you would get more for your dollar. Anthame Blue Cross of Connecticut can not sell insurance in Indiana or Idaho. Remove these barriers and open up the insured pool and prices would drop.

If you are forced to buy insurnace you can not vote with your dollar. Car insurance can not be compared to Health Insurance. Not everyone is forced to have a car and not everyone is forced to have a license (Though that is changing with Homeland Security requiring everyone to have a license ie National ID card.)A person can live without a car. He can work, buy goods and get buy without ever having a car and thus no car insurance.

If the Hospitals, Insurance Companies and Pharmaceutical Companies had to chase the dollars, in this case the consumer, you would be supprised how fast prices would drop or the more service or product you could buy.

I belive we, as a Country, are very close to the tipping point. Once that point is reached, over we go, the way of the Soviet Union. Then we will have Change. Just not the change we thought because "he" and "we" were not on the same page.

Remember the words of President Regan when he asked; " what are the ten most terrifying words in the English language?" "HELLO, I'M FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND I'M HERE TO HELP!"

    Jim

you hit the nail right square on the head there!

  9. Got back this evening without problems. Almost 14 hours from Tel-Aviv, to Atlanta, GA, then another two hours and fifteen minutes to Chicago. Met with my son for brunch, then drove home.

I'll get the photos posted in the next couple of days. A very nice trip without any hassles outside of airport security, (wasn't bad).

    Rob

Talked to Mike today-he left this morning, just before you got there  . He stayed long enough to help clean up after a week's worth of nonstop partying. No telling how much kool-aid they went through last week!

  10. I wish more people were like you Tom!

I could not read it without shedding a tear-it describes almost exactly the way it was with my wife before she passed away. Little different situation- She had cancer and I went through it for 2 months, and as I told Bill Sunday I don't know if she even knew I was there or not. But she would get up and do the walking thing too-heart breaking thing to deal with. Your life can just go 180 degrees in a heartbeat, you never know.

  11. I mentioned Old Bill (William Weatherstone) a while back (in May,here on "Odds and Ends"), and the problems he was having. Hadn't heard from him for a while so I called him Sunday to see how he was doing. Not too good... He has a new e-mail address and he told me about this senior's site in Maine he had written some stories about his difficulties for-

    http://www.timegoesby.net/elderstorytelling/William_weatherstone/

Start at the bottom at Alzheimers Part One and read this-they're dated. Nothing else I can say to add to this...

Thanksgiving is coming up...then Christmas-I just think we should all try to help in some way, if just a prayer. My change bucket is about half full again, and I know where it's going and I don't care if I never get new tires for the mixer.

  12. Seen with my own eye's one of those new Fontaines, think it was a Phantom, with one of the beams snapped almost clean in half. The bottom flange gave away. The driver was pulling out of a building with a load of plate on and- BOOM!! Sounded like a pipe bomb going off. Guess the driver said this wasn't the first one in their fleet to do this! I always thought those new extruded aluminum beams looked too thin around the flange. The old welded style flange on my Raven's is much beefier. I suppose some engineer at Fontaine had a fancy "material analysis" computer program tell him that that beam would be strong enough. Computers just can't account for all the variables found out in the real world. 7,800# seems awfully light, even for aluminum. What kind of warranty do they offer?

Great, now i've got one more thing to worry about! I've got 5 coils loaded in the middle of mine now. I'm not an engineer but everything has to have a certain amount of flex to it or it will break. The frame rails look pretty heavy on the phantom, but as soon as I see one of those Revolutions somewhere I'm gonna take a closer look at it. The ad said it doesn't have crossmembers under it, it looked like a flat plate all the way under it in the pictures, so I was wondering how that was gonna work.

  13. Freedom of speech works both ways.

You have the right to say whatever you wish to say, but you are NOT guaranteed a forum to say it in.

If you want to have a forum where you can be free to say whatever you want with NOBODY allowed to limit the content of your posts, you are free to start your own forum and pay for it out of your own pocket....but even then, if it is hosted on another server, there will likely be rules. There are a few "anything goes" type forums out there. If that's what you want, seek them out. ;)

Well then, sounds like i've been invited to leave...I know when i'm not wanted. This is the last you'll hear of 'ol other dog.

I've found a new site to join- it's been fun...so long everybody.

  14. I remember watching "Delta Force" on tv when I was younger thinking that was all the inspiration I needed to stay very far away from that part of the globe...

It would be neat to go to the Holy Land i'm sure, but the only foreign country i've ever really wanted to visit is Canada and that's not likely to happen either. Did step into Mexico once when I was in El Paso- pretty much just to say i'd been there. Went to a little bar and had a beer or three, but I was scared of being kidnapped by bandits the whole time I was there.

  15. Rob, et al:

You wanna get this website shut down? This website is sponsored by a Mack dealer and we've been graced with several participants who are employees of Mack, dealers, and suppliers. Mack and Volvo have a lot of minority customers. Mack and Volvo will not tolerate racism- read their corporate policies if you don't believe me. Posting racist carcitures, etc. will get Mack's ire and may have negative consequences for our sponsors. So if you want Mack and their dealerships to survive, don't post offensive stuff that will drive away ANY potential Mack customer that should happen upon your post.

Rob is not a racist. Nor have I seen anything to indicate that anyone else here is either. It's called freedom of speech...it's mentioned in the constitution of the United States.
