  1. I polished some of the rust off the top it does say Luber finer Los Angelas made in U.S.A. It took a 10 micron 3107 fuel filter and the orange filter canister seen in the pics was bypass as I think that was the original filter housing? Also what is the secondary oil filter for below the fuel filter in the picture shown. How exactly does this heater setup work. There is an ether injector below the air bath with the spark plug setup on the intake elbow?
  2. Getting ready to crank up the old Lanova in my A51T. Hooked the fuel lines back up to the tank, changed fuel filter, checked oil and just been taking a few gallons of cleaner and a vaccum to the entire truck. I already hooked up some air and tested the air system and bled the condensate from the tanks. Now I just mainly need to put a few gallons of diesel in and hook up a couple of batteries. Ill cross my finger and hope that it starts. Now I assume the starter switch is the button near the door on the dash marked ST? There is alot of re-wiring to be done. Paint and body as well. One last question is the oil filter for the 510c.i. lanova the dual flow unit? From what I see Wix, Baldwin, Fram and a few other still makes these.

  4. well after thinking over about the rarity of this truck it would be impossible for me to hack it up. Instead In a short while Ill get to work on her. I will be keeping the eyes peeled for another old mack to chop for my 1 ton.

  10. Well I'm in no hurry to axe the truck yet. Even right after I bought it the thought has crossed my mind of keep looking for another cab another day for the 1 ton and restore this beast. I will start cleaning her up soon. If i do keep the truck intact it will be likely put back into shape with more custom replacement parts rather than original parts as it would be extremely hard to track down all the little missing parts. This is my first tractor. I have operated alot of heavy digging equiptment and large forklifts but I have never even driven a true tractor.
  11. I do agree to a point with it being a rare piece. I will try to get it running the seller is also throwing in a set of new injectors for the motor. However I do not need a tractor. I dont haul heavy loads and the lanova engine didnt seem to have a reliable history. I may keep the chassis around as I do like the rig and maybe keep an eye out for another A50 series cab to retore this chassis. This is my 1 ton chassis. It has a 453N detroit diesel with jakes bolted to a 5 speed clark and a 3 speed brownie box. Hd 70 rear with large sway bars. IFS up front with upgraded ball joints and lift bags. Also disc brakes from an RV on all 4 corners.
  12. Hello. Just bought a 1951 A51 the other day. Still has the lanova engine. I bought this truck mostly for the cab and nose for my 1 ton project. MAy get it running and play with it a little first . Cab is mostly straight with minimal rust.
