  3. I have had the same experience in the past. Thought my existing alternator was shot but took it to a local shop (Buckeye Electric-Painesville Ohio) who were more then helpful in checking things out. In the end they tested it for me and it ended up being okay. Saved me a ton of time, money, and frustration. buckeyeautoelectric.com Hope this helps

  10. Looking for some help. I have heard in the past that the alternator will not kick in until the truck is run at a higher rpm for an extended amount of time. I had it tested and it came back okay. Put new battery in it and ran it at idle for a extended amount of time and the battery went dead. Will the alternator charge the battery at a idle speed.............and the truck came as a positive ground system. Any help would be appreciated.

  14. Looking for some help. I recently acquired a 56 Mack B42 and have found out that the alternator has failed. I have done extensive research to see what would be the correct alternator to replace with as I cannot see any part numbers on it. I have been informed that it is a 12-volt 100 amp and only has a single wire from the battery. Can anybody recommend what brand and part number would be suitable for replacement. As far as I can tell - Delco offers one but not sure which one is correct. Thanks
