  1. I have a B61(sx?) frame that is in good shape, some surface rust on the back but is not even close to being a rusty rotten frame. The cab is from a B75. cab isn't in bad shape but the floor is gone. Frame has 1 of the round style fuel tanks, I believe they are aluminum but have been painted black at some point in time. Looking to get $1000. I can assist loading it onto a trailer with a machine. Looking to get rid of it sooner than later. Please call if interested. (203) 948 2486. Located in Newtown, CT
  2. i used fine kitty hair where it was bad (under the 5th wheel plate) since it is harder than bondo. then I used glazing putty, which is the icing you are talking about. worked well. Then I put 2 good coats of Dupont expoxy primmer, then 3 coats of high build primmer. Then had to sand. and sand. and sand to block it all out nice and smooth. For the top coat I used 2 coats of this paint called Emron. The stuff is nasty, it is super sticky and goes on nice and thick but leaves a nice shiny finish and is very hard and durable when it dries. it isn't the cheapest stuff but now that I used it I will definitely use it for any other frame painting I do. at first I was turned off by the price but its well worth it for the final product
  3. I talked to that guy once for some parts, I forget what he had but he was a nice guy and have very reasonable prices
  4. very nice job, looks great, I have that same color maroon for some accent pieces on mine that I am in the middle of doing, nice color. doesn't it feel great to see all the hard work pay off once its painted and back on the frame
  5. good to know, I will have to try and find a place that sells those brands around here, I am going to ask a couple painters I know here their opinions too on what brands to use
  6. no I want to do a dark hunter green body, silver bumper and radiator, dark maroon brush guard and shutter stats and hub caps, green spokes, silver rims and the frame is gloss black. Down the road I might change the fenders to be gloss black too but not now. also that's what I have been hearing about the nason clear, people seem to like it
  7. also I am painting it a dark green, I haven't picked out a specific paint code yet so if anyone knows of a good one please let me know
  8. I should be spraying the cab, doors, fenders and hood next Saturday. I am planning on using a nason sealer, DuPont base coat, and not sure on the clear coat yet, leaning towards nason because its cheaper but don't want to lose any quality on the clear. figured id ask you guys what your thoughts are on this. thanks
  9. I know a guy that has 3 b81s, ill see if he is willing to part with any of them, the two that he might part with would need work but do have dump beds on them, ill find out if he will sell one
  10. nice truck, mine needed alooot of work, yours looks like a real good head start on a resto, how is the floor and inner fender wells?
  11. ya the fenders are the same, just have fender extenders, my fenders are fixable i am just way behind on the time, i need the truck done in a few weeks so im trying to find good ones to use to save me the time of fixing mine
  12. Anyone around CT have good fenders for sale? mine need some work and im in a time frame pinch to finish the truck so if anyone has fenders in good shape let me know, also do you know of anyone that bends aluminum, i was hoping to get new skins for the hood instead of fixing what i have but i am having trouble finding a place that can do it
  13. im 22 and always have been into construction, trucks and what not, I saw a b model at a tractor pull at a fair last year and just had to have one. now i am in the middle of a complete restoration of the truck to have it ready for spring. Not only do they look completely bad a$$ but the history behind every b model is just amazing, if only they could talk and tell stories of what they have gone though
  14. ya iv got to find the cord for the camera and then will have the pictures up, will an r model power steering box work? i was hoping to find something that will bolt in fairly easily, i dont need to complicate things more than they already are
  15. so i have the B75 completely torn down to bare frame rails, the cross members, suspension and everything is off of it. I am going to sandblast and paint it hopefully next week, but i am looking to put power steering on it, does anyone have a set up forsale or know where to buy one? I could also use fenders, mine are fixable but if i can find better ones for a reasonable price then i would be very interested in them. I have pictures of everything comming apart and what it is at now but they are on the camera, i will download them and post them when i have a chance to
  16. I have a question about the floor in the b75, can i take a b 61 cab and just remove the floor and make new, recessed, floor pannels for the b61 cab so that it matches my b75 cab? or are the dimensions of the height and build of the cabs completely different?
  17. i live in Newtown, my house is about 3 miles from the scene, i dont know anyone personally that was a victim but the town is a sad place. just driving down the main road that goes through town gives you chills. I know many of the volunteer firemen that were around the scene and they said it was/is a very tough place to be. To point a finger as to why or what caused this to happen just wont help anything, at this point what is done is done and unfortunatly we cant go back in time and change what has happened. All we can do is give our thoughts, prayers, and support to all of the victims, familys, and first responders of this tragedy
  18. ya agreed, that is going to b a mighty heavy load for a 1500, i would avoid hills and go at the right time of day when traffic is at its lowest and give it pleenty of braking room
  19. ha wow you lucked out big time. ya see thats what i am looking for, info like that on if it is going to be a full inspection or is an early america one will be simplier. and that is good to know about the not for hire because anything i would tow would be my personal stuff. i will have to find an inspector at dmv when i am ready to get it registered and ask them what i will need
  20. ya i always wondered what the not for hire on the door ment. i have my cdl so i am not worried about that but it seems like every different person at dmv has a different answer on what i need to do and how to register the truck. when i bought it someone told me that i didnt need to get it inspected if i got early america plates for it, turns out they were wrong and its my fault for not checking that out before buying it but its gunna take alot of electrical work and all new tires since they have cracks in them so its going to be a while before its on the road
  21. ok much appreciated, thank you. i may end up having to go commercial because i would like it to pull the tractors to the fairs but im not totally sure yet
  22. these are the pics from the ad that it was forsale on, obviously it makes it look MUCH nicer than it is, its just brush on paint and the pics dont show any of the rust, iv been very busy with work, i will try and get the true pics of it soon
