With the massive weight reduction on the front end, will you remove some of the springs?
-
I have replaced the seals on my FA517 axle. Had similar wear ring with pin. The pin just keeps the wear ring from spinning. It's been a few years so the details are fuzzy, but when I saw your pictures I knew I went through the same deal.

Somewhere I posted pics of latches I fixed. I just cut the top off, fixed the broken springs an welded the tube back together. Have to watch the weld heat as you can soak the spring and make it weak(ask me how I know). But, in the end it worked. Your way is the proper way, if the threaded insert has any chance of coming apart. Mine weren't too pretty.

Sounds like a plan.
I wonder if somewhere along the lines someone mismatched some parts(or the tube is bent?) and thus the out of alignment and the last guy just ran the bolts in and just tightened'r down? Putting the S cam in a bind?

Wonder if the axle tube is bent, thus making the S cam bracket not line up with mounting surface?

My local mack dealer parts guy was talking about seeing your truck online as we talked about my truck. I mentioned you were on this site. I then got curious as to your range and by chance you posted this pictures.
Are you buying these battery packs from wrecked cars? Or new? Can I ask what they get for them? I've heard horror stories about Prius' and spending thousands of dollars to replace the batteries.

Wow, that is quite a powerplant. What is the expected range?
With all that power, what kind of safety precautions are in place against possible electrical issues? One little short could really ruin ones day.

Owww, that's ugly!
-
Looks pretty solid. Nice start.

Nice cab!!!!! Wish there was alot of them around like that.

Post card material right there!
Just need you to dress up in your sunday best, with a drivers cap and lean on the fender for that perfect 50's shot.
-
Dan, simply amazing trucks. I'm GREEN with envy! Still dig out my Lindsey videos to watch you and your trucks.

Like typical OEM, they just put some dum-dum on the brace and push the panel onto it. Once the putty dries and falls off, the panel can resonate. When I fixed my lower cab mount, I too welded the rear panel to the bracing. Of course once I cut it open for the bunk I welded it all solid around the opening.
