Bob was asking about you the other day,"laundered" my flip phone in the pocket of my jeans so gotta get another before I can get back to him.Broke my hip recently I don't recommend anyone doing that! I'm walking again without walker, cane etc have been off the site for awhile.
-
Hey!! Glad to see you back around. Dang, sorry about the hip. Ugh, don't want to think about things like that.
I hurt the motor in the wagon, cracked a cylinder. In process of building something new. Only got 19 years out of that block, no regrets.
Oh, the ol "washed up phone" routine. Ya, sometimes that's not such a good thing to happen.

Just wondering if you knew anything about the truck accident on the ramp of I77 last Thursday. He had a load of slit coils on and they ended up in the back of his bunk. I was just curious what happened.

I was caught in that mess. I was only 1\2 mile behind it on my way home. I was going to run through town but jumped on it 30 and north 77. We were parked for about 20 minutes before they started to let traffic around on left berm.
Didn't realize what had happened until I got right up on it. I was in far left lane and all the trucks blocked my view. Everyone played nice and merged together to get around. They had blocked 62 East ramp so there must have been something on that ramp also??
I saw a med duty sized service truck diagonal in front of steel truck and I saw whatever was on trailer was into the rear of the bunk. I tried to snap a picture but I'm not as handy as Otherdog and I missed it. I wasn't going to hold up traffic and get the shot.
I've been curious about the accident but haven't read/seen anything about it myself.
We're you passing through?

The first time I drove a B I was 6'2" and 170,close but no problem! Now I'm 180, wonder if it makes a difference? He must be a good friend if you let him drive your B!
-
He was 6'-1, 320# when we tried to fit him in. He is down to 280# and slowly working to get even lower. I'm only 5-10 and 170# so I fit well. I can stretch my left leg out under the dash and drive comfortably.
Ya, I've known him for a very long time. He would have caught on to the two sticks with a little time behind the wheel. I don't have many people I know that could even come close to getting it moving, let alone drive it down the street. I'd like to see/hear it go down the road, but no one can drive it?

What is you're home track ? Ohio is a big state! In my opinion one of the top "gearhead" states after California especially the Youngstown Akron area.

Well, don't really have a home track anymore. Yes, this is a good state to be in if you like drag racing. Lots of tracks to choose from and typically only an hour away from anyplace in the state.
In 1995 I started at Magnolia dragstrip in Magnolia, Ohio. Then I started to go to places like Dragway 42, then Quakercity, Norwalk, National Trails. Running the all stick shift group we travel around NE Ohio and even Milan, Michigan and Pittsburgh, PA. The UMTR started in 2006. It is a throw back to the early days of racing.

I did spent a good portion of my racing career at Dragway 42 in West Salem. Had lots of good times, ran points for many years. Ran from about 1997 to 2006. It finally got sold about 4 yrs ago and the current owner is completely rebuilding the place. Hope to have it finished next year?

Freightrain saw your post about the young couple and the flood zone! We looked at the property we now live on for several months during hvy rains, and a tropical storm.Saw no significant flooding. We built our house, and 5 yrs later they declare us in a flood zone! We are 6miles from the Gulf coast and not near any body of water! In other words we have none of the benefits that make people willing to live in a flood zone (and pay flood insurance) Like living on the ocean or a canal where you can dock a boat and so on.There are 5 houses visible from our front door, and only us an our neighbor are in a flood zone! We got flooded and were glad to have the insurance, but we feel the county created the flood zone by not properly sewering the new school they built 1/4 mile away,or the toll road they built several miles away.We sit in the watershed between these two infrastructures. We obviously wouldnt have built in a flood zone without the "benefits". Of course they raise the flood insurance rate every year!

Have you seen the reports of people in Florida where whole allotments were built on old swamp land. Now, 5 yrs later they find their property starting to settle and fall into the abyss(sink hole). Nothing they can do or say. They'll loose everything and no insurance to cover it. I'll bet there will be a bunch of law suits over it.

Just hit me,how the hell do you ban assault trucks?if they're talking about the stroke who drove into the crowd in France, yeah, if he knew it was illegal to drive into a crowd and kill 80 people he wouldn't have done it! I If the world was run by truck drivers or little kids it'd be a better place!

freightrain,I don't know how old you are,but if Grayhair is reading this he is old enough to answer this question.in the 70's there was coast to coast team operation(probably reefer) running tag axle gas jobs Ford or Chevy ,with box sleepers. At 100k their mechanics would install a new "long block"engine. That was all you could get out of a gas engine with the lubricants of the day.Did the swap in a couple of hrs.Other than the atrocious mileage a gas engine got,the benefits were many!Low initial cost, light weight, with the 73280gross limit, low cost of parts etc. Does anyone remember what this company was called?

I'm just curious as to the alum tube part. I'm not sure the R model will be long enough to get back to the firewall to attach to a B model. If not, then I might as well just get my own flexible tubing and attach it. I've seen other B models do the same kind of thing. So if you can get me a basic length of long the tube is, from the 180* bend.
Thanks.

That's the hiccup. I can likely make something from scrap stuff cheaper then the cost of getting yours shipped to me.
Is it just the elbow or does it have the convoluted piping that goes back to air cleaner? I know that stuff will likely not do me much good, as I'm thinking I might just get some thick rubber 4" tubing. I'm just kinda in limbo til I get the passenger fender on it to see what I have to work with. The exhaust clamp nightmare is what I'm trying to finish up before installing the fender. Much easier to work on without having to crawl over that.

Okay so that girl in the profile pic- that is me, Jenny .. I have taken on the sales position for Atlantic Equipment , of Cleveland , OH. . Since taking on this - lets say- "masculine" endeavor, I sure have learned a lot about trucks / trailer equipment- of these ONE thing is FOR SURE ::: ~ It's a MAN'S world!! (the world of diesel, trucks, trailers, ect...) That said-- I have decided to put my nail polish aside and become a member of any and every "truckin'...

Working on getting this B model grafted back together. Looks like I can get a 124" wheelbase. Seems long for a single axle but maybe not with a small sleeper installed.
