  1. Tom Great Pictures.. Here is another as it arrived at the Corbitt show in Henderson for the 100th anniversary show in 2012..
  2. This morning's local news, an NBC affiliate, had almost as much time about the protests as about the inauguration. I guess the NBC owners are still as sore as George Soros about the election outcome!!
  3. Local wrecks not much, BUT on longer haul transport probably real handy.. Also the operator can haul a co-driver back as well..
  4. And now the wonderful rule makers have cut the 14 hour work day back to an actual 13&1/2 because your mandated 30 minute break does not stop the 14 hour clock!!!

    GREAT DAY

    Perfect Transportation
  6. Also notice he "drifted" over into the plow as at that speed he could not hold it in his lane.. Steering wheel holders and electronic logs make for safer drivers, JUST ask our Gubbermint!!
  7. Some of the short nosed (forget model #) Diamond T, REO and Diamond Reo's all had to 15 degree tilt Cummins 855s.
  8. Over the years I have found that a smile and courtesy has got me thru several inspection which could have been big tickets.
  9. It is interesting that all these criminal indictments are coming out in the 2 weeks before Obumma leaves??? BUT he could not find anything WRONG with Hildabrutes conduct???
  10. Ernie Lear's F-1000 is a very sharp truck. Would love to have it.
  11. There are a lot of those steering wheel holders with "Wrap Around" Stetsons pulling reefers out of the Bakersfield / Fresno valley.
  12. Diamond T also built a similar looking wood framed COE with suicide doors in the late 30's.. Tom Warren in Amarillo TX has one, but I do not know if he has restored it yet or not. A few years ago I think the was a similar cabbed Autocar PP&G line truck at Macungie?? Anybody remember it??
  13. That is one of the BIG Satellite dishes on the roof also..
  14. Have done it many times with 2 ramps.. Just start a a 45 degree angle and run the steering up the far ramp..
  15. If you are an ATHS Member you can get into the WOT archives and there was a whole issue which featured the Purple Power Allis's about 2-3 years ago.
  16. DD Thank You for the info..Am glad to hear Crouse Hinds is still going.. I left the Syracuse area in the mid 70's and my memory keeps getting shorter each year.
  17. DD Was the the original Lipe Clutch?? On 7th North St.??? In the mid 60's I worked for Ithaca Delivery out of the old trolley barn on Wolf St. that was still there a few years ago when I went by after Cortland W/E.
  18. Sodley, another thing to consider, Is this going to be a "once in a lifetime" vacation trip for you and your WIFE??? If so Google "Pennsylvania Tourist Info" and have the PA State Tourist people send you an info package, which usually includes a good state road map. I did this for all the Northern Plains and Pacific Northwest states before we drove from South Carolina to the Yakima Wash show in 2012. Then let her pick out some things she wants to see and do. Then wrap the Macungie show into the middle of them. I know this can become expensive.. I had said Pacific Northwest and back home, BUT my wife said we were going to make a detour on the way home by way of Fairbanks Alaska!!!
  19. KS You are correct.. My memory is getting short!!
  20. Look for a State Farm agent who handles a lot of commercial vehicles.. I got my antique insurance thru them with no problem, but some agents only know regular cars. Also check out Gulfway in Hudson FL as the do a lot of antique trucks and you can pull a trailer with them.
  21. I do not know how long it will take to do the Philly historical / tourist sights, but would plan on doing them Wed PM / Thurs AM while you are down there. Like Al said I would plan on doing the Mack Museum like Fri AM, (would have to check to see if they are open on Thurs??), (2 hours)between the motel and the show, this is what I did. I have not done the factory tour and always have moved around in my own wheels not the tour buses. Check out the hours of the America on Wheels to fit it in (another 2 hr min), I did it with family on the Fri after Thanksgiving. If you plan on doing any of the Amish country / Gettysburg Park just push your outbound flight back a couple of days and do them after the show. Truck wise the show is about 2/3 to 3/4 the size of the recent ATHS shows, land walking about 1/2 the size (no golf cart rental). The majority of the trucks arrive on Thurs, but some continue to arrive thru Sat AM and about 3-4 PM Sat the outbound procession starts. How long it will take you to see the trucks will all depend on how close you inspect them and most importantly how much you BS with the owners. Being new and not knowing people by sight it might not hurt to wear a name tag from your chapter or old ATHS show. How much time you spend in the flea market area is up to you, sorta hard to carry parts home on the plane!! Remember the BMT group photo is usually at Noon Sat at the Watts tent. There are a lot of shaded picnic tables near the food court area to sit and rest and BS!! There is also the Thurs night get together at the Tilted Kilt. There is no spectator admission charge but the parking is about $5/day. Keep asking questions and we will keep trying to answer them..
  22. The only New Departure I knew of was Chrysler's transmission factory in Syracuse NY during the 60' & 70's.. They also made the 4X4 transfer cases for Chevy in St Louis..
  23. I was one of those attending the show to see them together.. Also two weeks later 3 of the 5 participated in the South Carolina Special Olympics Convoy.
  24. Lets try this The Mack Plant is in Macungie about a mile from the show with a shuttle bus running continuously all day. The Mack Museum and Customer center is in Allentown only about 10 miles from the show, the America on Wheels museum is about another 3 miles toward downtown. As I said before all your plans will depend on how much time you can allot to the whole vacation trip. Car parking can get tight.. The volunteer Fire Police and the Boy Scouts each have a lot and a few private ones.
  25. Same here..The data plate on my 49 Diamond T 201 reads vehicle weight 3865 and a gross of 8000!! That is 2 tons on single 7.50 x 16 tires, the dual tire axle was an option!! 9 leaf springs on the steering and 13 leaves in the rear..
